Quote from Mp3 Astra :Wow those are some very old clips! That was back when I didn't have a livery for the XFG! I'm not sure what the "mystery" is, but I guess that's the point...

Yes, they are fairly old! Some BnJ regulars appear in these clips and fans will also note the appearance of the now dropped Champagne & Tudor Rose layouts.

I'm hoping to have this project fully complete in the next few days, I just wonder if anyone has got an idea as to the "mystery"?

Here is two small parts of a much larger project currently under production. I don't want to spoil it, so some bits have been removed as to not give it away, so there is a couple of "black" spots in the movie.

I suppose you could call this a "teaser" but I'm mainly just after some comments as too what people think. Constructive comments are welcome!!

Quote from benoityip :i tried to compared the handling in rfactor using Porsche Cup 2005, V8 Super Car , Corvette.. (I think these are good mods)

In LFS, I use FXO GTR and FXO (Street Version)

So you tried comparing handling physics of a couple of 5-600hp rear wheel drive cars with a 450hp all wheel drive car and a 200hp front wheel drive?

Hmmmmm, makes a lot of sense............. NOT. Try your comparisons with at least similar sorts of cars to sound at least a little credible.

Quote from Zachary Zoomy :I'm looking for a good movie editor for my LFS movies. I really like the demos of Vegas and Premier but I can't find prices and I'm a scared of what they are. I like WMM but I loose all the quality with the WPM format. any tips. I got nothing through a manual search.

I have used both Vegas and also Pinnacle Studio 11 to create my movies. Studio is ok for the less intense videos, but Vegas is the better (but more intensive to use) for the more advanced videos. Quite amazing what Vegas can do given its size compared to the hard disk munching space-whore that Studio is (plus it renders at least twice as fast as Studio).....

Quote from AndroidXP :However, one thing will always stay, which are the people who come here and cry and complain about how LFS will die a horrible and lonely death if the devs don't do XYZ right NOW! I wonder when the next Brazilian salesman wave comes...

So true..... wasn't LFS dying a slow death 2 years ago?? And it was still dying a death 1 year ago? And apparently, with more S2 licencesed racers than ever playing online, its still dying a slow death. Makes sense........ NOT.

Fact is, nobody has been promised anything in terms of content or timeline for release so all this "its taking too long" crap is thrown into irrelevance. When you bought S2 (or S1) you knew how it worked and the difference in development schedule, so if you didn't like it, why the hell did you buy it????? And if it you didn't know how it worked when you bought it, you must be a nitwit.

Quote from sandberg :Why my FRAPS lag?? I have download the free model...It`s my computer to bad??

I need help... I have read the hole "Making LFS Movies" Thread...

pleas help mee!!

--sandberg--

If by lag you mean that the captured clips are coming out jumpy, then probably yes, your computer is struggling to keep up. Fraps will eat up a lot of resources and you hard disk is tested as well. You need AT LEAST a 7,200rpm hard drive, 10,000rpm is optimal.

Isn't it funny how when someone digs up an old thread, they get beat up for it, yet if they started a new thread on the same topic, they would get beat up for that too (Do a search NOOB!)?

Quote from squidhead :improve camera work massively
the rest is good enough to get you 7/10 from me

I'm always improving on my camera panning etc, I think in some of the clips, the full effect was lost as I had to trim certain bits to try and fit within the beat of the music....

Quote from Itar (CZ) :It was quite boring for me... especially secon part of vid. You have some good camera shots in first, but I think that camera is too snatchy. And in shot, when you use lens flare effect... when camera goes down, it should move over camera...

6/10

Understandable, but it was never meant to be full on action in this clip (thats for the other project). I know what you mean about the lens flare, I'm hopeless at getting these effects right, I was using Vegas and the standard plugin effect for that. Any tips on getting it too move?

Hi all,

Here is a quicky, was going to use this in a bigger project I'm working on, but it didn't really fit in, so I'm putting it out on its own. Some nice Aston track shots, and racing shots around the track. No drifting in this clip for all you drift haters! LOL

I am open to any and all comments........

I totally disagree. Not opening up LFS to modding will NOT spell the end of this game. If that was the case, people would not play the demo for 2 or 3 years straight. I started playing this game at S10.5E or something and only got my licence when S2 Alpha was released.

Look at rFactor. It may have a larger user base (although I dont think its too much bigger than LFS) and is totally moddable. Given this, it should be a highly developed huge game with massive popularity, yet it doesn't. It is not highly developed and is by no means the best simulator. In this instance, modding may have saved rFactor in terms of changes in content, but playing it online is almost impossible due to no servers or everyone wanting to play a combo that no one else wants to play.

For a game to survive in a demo stage for so long with such a different and open development schedule is a testament to this bunch of computer code.

Its a big NO to the modding!!!

This is a toughy. I've gone for racing incident here. There was definitely no intentional contact, the passing moves were not overly aggressive and I really believe a race steward in any form of racing would hand out a penalty for that incident.

It happens very quickly, very little time for anyone to react, so I'm not blaming anyone for this.

P.S. Astra, whens the album coming out? Lalalalalaaaaaaa.....

1/10 - could do better

Somehow, I get the feeling that you may have, and please correct me if i am wrong, but you may have slightly, just a little bit

MISSED THE WHOLE BLOODY POINT!!!!!!

It's a fun little video, not made to showcase anything. I thought it was quite good.

Quote from Nick A :Thanks Did you leave it at 60fps then or did you somehow convert it again back to 30fps? 60fps would be too high becasue I want to post it on the web once I'm done, and obviously most vierwers wouldn't benefit from a frame rate above 30fps anyway.

EDIT: I suppose I could do what Gratrix suggested in post 243 and just re-record the footage at 14fps and then follow the suggestion above but at 30fps as that would also probably result in a smoother video as my PC struggles a bit with lots of cars in the race. Shame as it means I'll have to re-shoot everything but if it works then that's what I'll do.

Well, once I edit it together and render it, it ends up being 30fps anyway due to my render settings. recording at the lower fps also works, i have done both with reasonably similar results, although a 10,000rpm hard disk would be sweet.

Quote from Nick A :I'm trying to make my first movie but I can't get Virtualdub to double the frame rate. I followed the instruictions in the first post, recording with fraps at 30fps playing the replay at 0.5X speed. In virtualdub I select process every other frame and hit F7 but it just saves the clip unchanged, still at 0.5X. If anyone has any ideas why it's doing this I'd be really grateful.

I had this same problem. I got it too work by instead of "processing every other frame" i selected both "convert to:" and typing in 60fps and also "change to:" and typing 60fps. doing this sped the footage back to normal speed.

Quote from LFSn00b :B went maybe too far to the outside to the curve, and obviously didn't look at his left and drove into A.

I cant see how B drove into A. B was taking the corner, he may have been a little offline but that really is irrelevant, and A thought he would squeeze through a gap that didnt really exist. A did not have the overlap required to make a pass, so B was quite within their rights to continue on that line.

Quote from Mp3 Astra :I love the way the names popped up with those cool synth drum sounds! I might have to borrow that method sometime

Hehe yea, it just added a little extra bit too it. The sounds were directly from Pinnacle Studios sound effects.

As for the MX5, it had a massive turbo on it, you could hear it spool up pulling away, and it was definately hella quick, down the main straight it was lightning fast. Totally owned those porsches & ferrari, walked away with each race for that class. Unfortunately, i didn't get a shot of the mx5 engine as it was in a garage in the pits facing in.

Here is a very short clip, about a minute long.

What happens when noobs race REAL race cars?

No effects to speak of, just threw this together for fun. Short bit of LFS action and some action taken from my local track, Wakefield Park. (quick plug - http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au )

If anyone wants a direct download link, i'll put it somewhere if requested.

I voted "A". He didn't have sufficient overlap to pass "B" cleanly regardless of the corner. His nose was not even halfway up "B"'s car.

Also, he tried a very stupid line when driving so close to another car, he was just flat out at that corner, he didnt even lift off the throttle, and his over-correction of the slide he was in due to taking the corner like that was rediculous. He probably would have got through that corner quickly and cleanly had he been on his own, but when your with another car, that sort of corning taking is just plain selfish.
