Sinbad, that's a very good run, fancy posting the setup? Seems like you've got rid of a ton of the bounce, I've battled with it for a couple of hours and more often than not bounce off the road, especially at the first flat out section with the crests.

Boris, do you really not know how to crank on downforce or are you just so stubborn you refuse?

Fixed racing is the worst thing that ever happened to online sims. I'm not exactly good at setting up cars but I can tune them to my own preference with only a few simple adjustments easily enough, it's not hard. Fixed sets suit certain people far more than others so it's basically just your luck whether the person who made the setup has a similar driving style to you.

Quote from Bmxtwins :But for the amount we pay... Lol

So, tell me how you would improve the netcode then, don't just do the "it's shit I want better waaahhhh". The incident in that Indy race, it's less than a foot at 220mph.

To be fair, 220mph with a 100ms ping is a ridiculously large distance travelled, iRacing can be laughed at and slaughtered for many things but netcode isn't one of them. Sure there are dodgy moments sometimes, but show me a racing sim where there isn't. rFactor and NKP, 2 of the biggest sims had terrible netcode, LFS had it's moments and it remains to be seen what AC's will be like.

Lotus Evora is far and away the best car I've tried on Joux, the other Loti(Lotuses?) are too 'hard' but the Evora is perfect, feels like I'm blasting along a good B road, it's perfect.

Quote from Boris Lozac :So how you're guys reading into this, we should forget about RBR conversions in the future, or they just don't 'officially' support it..

No mods are ever "officially supported", if they were rFactor would be paying out millions in licenses for all the different tracks. It's not a shock to hear Kunos say that, they're just covering their own backs. I'm sure they're having as much fun on Joux as the rest of us.

I badly need pacenotes for this track, preferably screamed at me by Derek Ringer or Nicky Grist.

Quote from Intrepid :Am I right that you need RBR for this mod to work?

Nah, you "should" according to Kegetys, but it will work if you don't. Who doesn't have RBR anyway?

Phil, fancy sharing your Formula Abarth setup for Joux?

The input lag on that video is unbelievable, obviously doesn't seem to affect the driving though.

For most games, a setting of 3 is usually preferred, gives a smoother image etc... but for a racing sim, I've been using a setting of 1 all the way back to my first days on LFS, for something like a racing sim where reactions are paramount it makes no sense to have it any other way. In iRacing, it's called "Cap Frame Queue" or something similar and is enabled by default in the graphics options.

But of course, Kunos knows best. They're a good bunch of devs, but they need to fix their ****ing attitude problem where they can't be wrong.

Surely they have to bring the snow back at some point, what's the point of only putting it in for 1 day when the vast majority of people can't even play? I'm not happy I missed it completely.

Quote from ajp71 :Surely rendering frames ahead will introduce a form of input lag, so it would be a bad idea on a system that can handle rendering in real time. Presumably on an old system that can't cope with rendering in real time it is better to get a steady stream of frames even though they are slightly out of date.

Or have I misunderstood how pre-rendering frames works?

The default in the driver is 3 (which is what 0 in AC uses), so yeah you're basically right, setting to 1 helps a ton.

Quote from Bmxtwins :thanks, didnt even see that.

Though I must say, wtf SIM offers tractions control???????

A SIM, a simulator, simulating real cars with real Traction Control systems. Obviously the L49 didn't have TC, but is it really out of order for a sim to have options for people who aren't like us and havent been driving on sims since we could reach the pedals?

Bit of a poor announcement, obviously getting a laser scanned Nordy is excellent news, but all the hyping was ridiculous. "Merry Christmas, here's a present next September, just give us some money and you can get it ".

Bound to be something to do with Ferrari F1, or Nords. Didn't someone have a leaked screen ages ago with the nordy on the interface already?

Ruf RWD street car is a terrible car, unsaveable at anything more than tiny slip angles, feels like a piece of shit compared to any of the AC cars. If this is what a 911 road car feels like, I'll take the Cayman.

I do really like the track car though, the highest compliment I can give it is it feels like AC with slightly less grip. The default setup isn't great at all, but with it sorted its a fun car, plenty of traction, can happily catch it on acceleration out of corners at quite high slip angles and I can almost feel the tyre actually biting and gripping the road instead of floating on top of it.

It is undeniable that iRacing runs great and looks very decent, even at 5760 res with high details and plenty of AA/AF I'm still getting a solid 124fps and silky smooth gameplay, while with AC on my own I'm struggling to get 100 unless I turn everything off, including most AA and AF. I'm very happy that iRacing have given me something to play with and properly race again while waiting for AC to mature.

Quote from carfetish :So is this supposed to have a more uptodate version of NTM5 (saying this has like v5.2, while MX and solstice have 5.1)? Noticed any differences?

Apparently it has the same tyre model as the rest of the NTM5 cars, as rolling in the updates to the tyre for just the RUF would **** up the rest of the NTM5 cars.

Moyes won't get the sack, no chance. They didn't sack Fergie back in his first couple of unsuccessful years, so there's no chance they will Moyes, especially while Sir Alex still has a say in it.

Owen Coyle though, hated him as a player and hate him as a manager. For god sake he was that bad as a player that he couldn't get Capped for the national team and had to go and play for ROI. How he kept in a managers job for so long escapes me.

Ruf seems to be getting released within the hour. SMyers on Twitter posted "If I had a dog it would be saying "RUF, RUF" today...." and the membersite has a message saying: "** Downtime for 2 hours at 1:00pm EST / 18:00 UTC for new content and updates **
".

I'm holding out some hope for the RUF, if it drives like a dog (haha) then it's goodbye for me, I've got 3 days left on my sub.

Well I've had a good learning day today. My Maths teacher taught me 1850s maths which is now invalid, he's a conspiracy theorist, I can read equations any way I want because I'm a free thinker, and that where x = 90, 2x = 290. I also couldn't draw a map of a track freehand in paint from memory without getting it completely wrong, I don't know the Nurburgring from driving thousands of sim laps and couldn't get the corners in the right order from pictures, difficult means impossible, and Jackie Stewart was a dirty no good liar.

Edit: Oops BBT beat me to it.

Hahaha brilliant. I beat him on iRacing once, was the best day of my life. He smoked me on the karts though by about a second a lap .

Bawbag definitely used grip hacks, he even used them when we happened to be karting in Falkirk at the same time the bastard!

I just downloaded it from here the other day, Mirror 2 was the quickest for me. Need to download all 4 parts into the same folder then run the exe. It's the 2013 version, runs as a 60 minute demo then needs unlocked.

Pity his FOV is wrong, but damn it looks awesome fun on three big screens and a motion rig .

His FOV does look a little wrong but not too bad. The triple screen app makes it pretty much impossible to have a wrong FOV, it's just a case of measuring screen width, screen angle, bezel width and eye distance from central monitor and the software sets the rest up absolutely perfectly, it makes trip screen setup a breeze.
