After finishing the official Czech LFS league - "PC Opravy Skoda Octavia Cup 2008", we had prizegiving ceremony + LFS meeting at Prague on this saturday. It was the biggest meeting of Czech and Slovakian players that was ever held - over 40 people came. Thanks to Chaos & his co-workers, we had 301 on the place, so everyone had the chance to try it.

check out the photos:

by me: http://don.vn.cz/temp/repo/lfssraz_prague/ (and some of them by TommyV)

and there might be even some vids later...

excuse the poor lighting on group photo...

EDIT: here is the promised video by p@cho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69JnVXfB22o

tone mapped HDRs were cool maybe in 2003. but after everyone started doing them (and overcooking), they started to really suck and nowadays, i haven`t seen GOOD tone mapped HDR for many months.

there is (or atleast was couple months ago) a small area on skidpad, where the surface felt like ice

im talking about tonemapped hdrs (your first 2 pics) - i hate those "ghosts", gray areas in sky and the halo....but thats just my opinion

depends what you mean with "good". i hate that kind of "hdr", 90% of the hdr photos on the internets are heavily overdone and ugly (imho ofcourse)

try printing out a 1024x768 image, once at 72DPI and once at 300DPI (with 'resampling image' switched off in photoshop). The actual image size after printing @72DPI will be 36 cm, at 300DPI it will be 8.7 cm

Quote from Boris Lozac :Niiice, but tell me, you are editing these shots in Photoshop right? They can't be like that straight out from camera?

original quote on the LFS pic by srdsprinter

and its nothing against LFS, it`s just the fact that im sick of WRC (in general) being overlooked by media, when in fact, THERE are the best drivers (imho).

most of these photos were shot with sigma 70-300, some of them with canon 50/1.8

about sharpening, nothing special, just filter->sharpen->sharpen and then ctrl+shift+f

Certainly a good idea, i`ve also put some thought into this few years ago.
After the stage would be generated, you would be allowed to have 2 drives thru it in standard ROAD car and you would create your own pacenotes. Then the 3rd drive would be "real" one, with rally car. And it wouldn`t even be impossible to make this online - just make some queueing system so cars would start with 2 minutes intervals...

Quote from ajp71 :We have different views then, all I want is straight forward video of the rally and interviews and a bit of news from the service area. I don't need to see virtual spectator, diners, that head to head nonsense, huge pulsating stage names, or the general rubbishy 'technical' bits. They should put all those bits in a separate program IMO.

Yes, and THAT is what WRC:AAA is all about. The "rally reviews" in it are just a "bonus", so that people who don`t watch the "real" reviews are up to date with what`s going on.

Quote from ajp71 :
They used to run stages nearly that long on the Safari, to me the idea of not driving it is ridiculous, especially given the tiny distance they drive anyway now.

Then get used to it, rally has been like this since I can remember it. And I believe cars didn`t cost 500 000 pounds back then (not considering the fuel usage and other mechanical wear of other parts). These cars are not build for "slow" driving.
