danny was very unlucky, raced a great race up till then, i got right alongside him fighting for first but found it a real struggle to keep up and was cursing his consistency until the contact he had with a back marker let me through, then i just had to concentrate not to make too many errors for the last three laps. I even beat my qualy time on about lap 16 and got a new PB lol, damn i should practice more.
In the second race i hadnt practiced the track hardly at all and was off the pace, rolling it and putting my self out the game. Later i discovered a better flow and again knocked my PB down by about 0.7 three laps in a row on the last 3 laps. Unfortunately it was too little too late
that makes alot more sense, i didnt realise there were areas of tarmac that were totally out of bounds especially as people tend to use the kerbs and other such extended areas of tarmac to brake in/on or extend/tighten racing lines and give each other space on etc. If i am ever in tongeys postion in future races i will make no attempts to avoid anyone also
thanks for looking at these, i apologise for hitting tongey and agree that i was totally at fault in the incident on lap 1,
i would also like to know, how you ruled that i did not leave tongey any space in the incident on lap 10, when there is AT LEAST a full cars width of tarmac on his right hand side and that you also clearly see that prior to the impact, i am moving to the right, he is moving to the left, and i am the one at fault even though i cant see him and he can clearly see me?
I have attached 2 images, the first is a second or so prior to the impact, i am going faster than tongey. Note the position of the white line in relation to tongeys wheel. The second image is at the exact moment of impact. Note that while i have moved to the right, tongey has moved to the left... who has hit who? Tongey also clearly has plenty of space to the right and had he used it, i would have been passed him and we wouldnt have hit because i was going faster than him all the way down the straight.
Please note im not trying to appeal against the penalty, im fine with whatever you have decided. However your decision to penalise a driver in my postion clearly raises issues for other drivers as to who is at fault in a similar position. Ie the driver who is steering 'more' into another driver is at fault, the driver who can clearly see another car and still has room to move out of the way without compromising speed or line, is entitled to steer toward another driver without fear of penalty etc?
i didnt mind at all, i was just confused more than anything else, and i did have a bit of a panic when i realised i didnt have a set that could last the distance. Im rubbish at making sets at the best of times, let alone when i have about 3 laps to make and test one in
about half way through qualifying i saw a couple of people messaging each other asking if the feature race was 'still on the normal track' the reply was 'yes' and the reply to that was 'thank god for that'.
I quickly jumped onto the forum (it was in the middle of qualifying) and scanned it, and must have read the round 2 'reverse/normal' bit cos it looked at that point like i had made a mistake, so i just kept stchum about it thinking i was being a fool.
At the end of qualifying i remarked to the others that i had thought the race was on the other config and had had to cobble up a set quickly, and people just smiled or lol'd which sort of concreted it in my mind that i had buggered it up.
However just now i was looking at the configs for round 4 and realised that i HAD been right.
I could have sworn that the race dates state that the qualifying and feature race for round three was meant to be on the aston cadet reversed track, and the sprint race on the normal track. Yet last night im sure we raced the qualifying and feature race on the normal track, and the sprint race on the reversed version??
I quickly had to cobble together a longer race setup for the feature race during the qualifying session, as i could only get my sprint one to last about 15 laps
Why am i losing my sanity?

yes this is my everyday car! Its a series 1 xsi with a GTi 16v engine, 283mm brakes, bilstein suspension, a smattering of group N parts and just about everything that can be cut down or removed, has been, right down to the wiring loom.
I didnt submit a single one against another driver from round three at all! Ill admit i was over zealous in round 2 and possibly also in round 1, but in my defence this is my first ever race series, and i didnt know what the etiquette of these things is. Also things can feel very different in the heat of the race. Im sure we have all been guilty of ranting at someone for some contact at some point when playing LFS, only to review a replay a bit later and discover it wasnt quite how it felt. For some reason i dont think LFS was recording the replays for the first two rounds, so i didnt have the ability to check myself, im sure if i had i wouldnt have made the protests. Ive learnt my lesson now and reviewed the replays before submitting any complaints in round three. I tried to make up for it by submitting a complaint on behalf of tongey who i was pretty sure was mad at me for contact with me in round three, but it didnt go down very well
I apologise if i did it wrong and i promise not to be so wingy in the future
i have just come back from watching the replays and this is my view on the two incidents tongey has mentioned.
Lap 2 Turn 2
Niko had just passed me after he gave me a slight nudge going around t1. We then had a small contact again as we appraoach turn 2. I am concentrating hard not to contact Niko again and move back over to the line. Tongey has not passed me, but is level with me and on the outside of the turn and i do not see him. It is not a tenable position to make a pass under any circumstances anyway. We contact very lightly but tongey gets pushed sideways a virtual foot or so. As a result of this neither car is damaged. Tongey does not lose any position and infact remains less than half a second off my bumper for the rest of that lap.
Lap 10 turn 1
Tongey attempts to pass me on the straight but only manages to overlap the front of his car with the rear of mine by the time the braking point comes. He is again on the outside. As i am moving gently onto the racing line getting ready to brake, tongey does not give way, infact he is actually steering left towards me slightly, and his front left wing hits my rear right quarter and tongey loses control. Still out of control he fishtails into turn 1 and slides into me again (i have left space up the inside and gone wide as i can to prevent any impacts as hear him sliding towards me) causing him to be 90 degrees with the track. Zz0 then hits him when he is stationary causing him to lose 2 places.
I accept that the first incident was partially my fault, i should perhaps have left more room. However there was no loss of placing or time, and no damage was sustained and it was completely innocent on my part. I do not feel that tongey lost anything from this contact and i did not gain.
The second incident i feel was totally tongeys fault. He did not have sufficient overlap to have the right to corner, his front bumper was level with my rear wheel. He did not leave me enough room to take the correct position on the track. He steered towards me just before the impact rather than trying to take any evasive action even though he still has a good car width on his right side to use. He loses control of the car and still attempts to pass me on the inside while fishtailing and with his wheels locked and even then he is still not level with me. He skids into my left door, i do not move into him at all, and luckily i do not get pushed off the track, rather tongey gets pushed around. Zz0 then hits tongey which is what causes the loss of postion.
when i downloaded the divX update which was automatically linked from this site, it infected my PC with a trojan horse virus called Generic4.PJR which manifested in a 7Zip.cfg file. Luckily i scanned it the following morning, but this is a warning to other users!!
Sounds like they are emulating the A1 series. F1 needs something doing to it to make it possible to overtake, but powerboost buttons is all a bit 'fast and furious' for my liking.
What they really need to do is just reduce the amount of aero devices the cars have. Its these that always give the car infront in a battle the advantage of clean air, and the car behind in the turbulent air has little or no chance of getting enough speed or grip to pass.
Dont worry about it, i dont think anyone should recieve a penalty for it, but thats my point of view, i wanted to make sure if the stewards agreed. I was just trying to be sportsman like and submit an incident where i was accused of ramming someone.
great fun guys, sorry to tongey for the hit in the first race, but if you watch the replay from my pov you can see it was a total accident and i tried to leave room
cheers for looking, i hadnt saved the replays so i wasnt able to review anything myself until you hosted them, and having seen them from another point of view i totally agree with what you are saying. At the time of the race it felt very different but in the cold light of day i feel i bit silly for having mentioned any of them in the first place
