There has been a thread, that is being talking about, and the common thing I see is the desire for an "old style" pick up race series, which got me thinking...is there really interest out there.
Here is my thoughts:
XFG Cup or GT CUP with restrictions on the XRG so its closer to XFG
2 Race format
1st Sprint race - 10 laps - Top 7 Finishes Reverse Grid
2nd Feature Race - 15 Laps with Forced Pitstop
12 Rounds ( 2 races per round = 24 races)
Race day Sunday Evenings (approx 5-6pm)
Taking on my laptimes ( and I am not quick) races should be complete by 8pm
Races every other Weekend or every weekend
Top 3 drivers from the Previous round have to add weight to the next round, even up the field during the course of the competition.
Qualification Hot laps can be sent in to determine what Grid position you start on with a maximum of 3 being being submitted, although offline you can do as many as you want.
I know it sounds very similar to the current/last years BTCC, which if you watch it, works really well, is interesting and give good close racing.
There will be no forced cockpit
Nothing forced in Setups (except if you drive the XRG)
No restriction on where you live (depending on your connection speed)
S2 Licensed drivers ONLY!!
What I did with ESL was, they had to upload 1 skin for the series, again, I think the same as above, why have different skins each week, your car skin is not like your underwear for example, but we designed a Windscreen Banner that ALL had to use.
On replays and watching the race, it looked really smart.
We all seem to be pushing in the same direction here and wanting the same thing???
Yep found that problem with my "random" servers. I love to drive, but to watch for the "idiots causing havok" is a nightmare...and this is just your drive and race servers, this is not a league server either
WARNING!!!! Without reading every post going, so don't shoot me down here.
I used to love racing in leagues, and running them to be honest. You will always get a couple of now shows, but it happens in every sport in real life.
I looked at some leagues, and there seems to be only GTR's, Endurance, or single seaters. What happened to the class of GTI's, like the very very successful OLFSL. When Andre and co (me) used to run this, we used to divise the grid by hotlaps. Example, you had 1 week, to send in your hotlap, in your own time, when you can and before the shut off date, to determain what grid u was one. So 1 week, you could be on grid A, but then on Grid B. This put the drivers that was closest in laptimes on the same grid It worked
TIME.....to run a league properly you need time, effort, website skills, friends to help admin the league, good servers, and obviously drivers. Without any of the above, it will not work. Andre had all of these and more.
The "real" problem, sorry hate the C word for personal reasons is all the Blackwood servers out there. Lets get some variety going on. If you log on just to take a look, and you see 15 BL servers, and 1-2 poss different I think, who whats the point, and log off. And stop all this Multi-Multi class servers. I mean GTR/LX/Single seaters and GTI/UF1....come one...seriously, what is the point??
But LFS isn't dead, its a bit like a vintage bottle of wine. Your saving the best till last, as you know the longer you leave it, the better the taste will be LOL...problem is though, with all fine wines, there is a best before date
I know you all have good points, but these are now pointing in the direction of the wish list.
Please keep this thread, non argumentative, informative, and leaning towards that we, as a community would just like an update, no matter how small or big, just a continuous progress report would be nice, I think we all agreed on this?
Like somebody said, Scawen either doesn't have time, or is not the PR type, so ask somebody to do it. I know there is plenty of people on here that would take the time, of there own time to be a PR person to the community...I know I would
Team BR vs Afri-Cola in a online race at SO long......First race, I finished 5th to qualifiy for Pole for 2nd Race.
2nd Race started on Pole, with team mate Krak behind me and he protected me all the way...to my first win online in competition....I had sweaty palms, you name it...was just awesome.
Some others:
Downtown Movie with Joecool
We raced all night movie with Joecool
Running 1st and 2nd season with ESL (used to be only Germany had this privilege)
Creating Triple 7 Racing and seeing it go from strength to strength and still going strong
Being part of a fantastic community which I never had on any other game
Nice to see you still about Woz Grab that wheel and come and join some old S1 fun on my 0.3H7 Server sometime
I think it is now me that needs pointers HA HA HA, but thanks for the comment. Like you said, it was a strong community and little things like that was appreciated. Now all you get is "what do you know" and "who do you think you are" when you try and help....then get smashed off the road.....anyway, diversing here, back on topic.
As they say in football "Scawen Give us a wave, Scawen, Scawen Give us a Wave ....worth a try
Hmm not correct. As my join date here is Jan 2003. I just checked my LFS account, and it says I paid for S1 on 29th May 2003 and this was before the release. This forum was created in 2003, hence why we all have a join date.
Check here http://www.lfs.net/?page=oldernews and scroll to the bottom, Sep 2002, so I was 1 year out on my "find" date, 2002 is when I found it and joined RSC. New website (Jan. 8th, 2003 15:05) and Forum was released at the same time.

S1 is out! - Offical news S1 was released for download
So as you can see, the dates don't tally up when you needed a S1 account and joined the forum.
Hi Dawes, no it's not mate. It is the date you joined this Forum, it is not linked to LFS the Sim in any way.
LFS was operating from RSC for a good 2-3yrs before it moved to it's own dedicated forum. My actual join date that I first started racing LFS was 22nd September 2001. I know sad that I remember this date
Nope MousemanLV...I Found LFS in 2001/2002 I think, and my join date here is 2003, so now in 2013, so that's 10yrs just on here, but LFS was going strong way before, in RaceSimCentral forums.
So no, not a typo.
There is plenty of us around, that have been here a decade, and still are, not just me.
Like my avatar says, I am not a tourist...I live here LOL
Regarding the OP....I agree with what you say, a simple update is nothing, no matter how small it is or big, just something, as "its done when its done" is getting tired now.
And before you get the "oh here come's the oldies whinging again" posters we are not, we are purely asking for a little, if so little progress report. Scawen and co must know how much progress they have made and when it will be approx finished, if not, then there is no project management going on. Done when its done does not work in any project or company I have ever worked for, no matter what problems are thrown at you.
We, as a community don't need to know the added content, what we can expect in S3, but just that is getting closer would be nice.
Again, like most, I have been here decades, and still here, doing different things, trying to keep it fun and interesting but something from the devs would be great.
Even if they said "we are planning on a October release" for example and them have to put it back due to unforeseen problems, at least we know...they are fixing them before a final release.
