Quote from skywatcher122 :I'll try it cuz im new to the server things

Hey, Just some things that can be usefull to know if you are starting with LFS Servers.

in your /LFS_ROOT_FOLDER/docs/ (Folder) you will find a file called Commands.txt in this file you can find all the setting you can change on a lfs server without running airio.

Just remember that airio is a add-on what makes a server able to do more, for example restriction on a car. weight penalties. even know that airio a great and powerful add-on is. its still a add-on. a lfs server can run without it.

If you are new to lfs i would first use the default lfs server and then when you are missing something or getting the hang of it. you can start looking at a add-on that will do something extra. (airio)

P.S: i have add the Commands.txt incase you cant find it in your lfs folder

( in the search func you will find the previous posts )
( i believe it was the "lfs in"the publicity" threat )

Quote from nightojnr :Old hard drive is goooonnneeeeee. Ok then cool, also my other problem is in lfs/data/skins theres no files... it's just a skins_readme file...??? any ideas? Thanks

Thanks correct...

the lfs/data/skins folder is a folder where you can put your .jpg skins, when you boot up lfs it converts it in to a .dds file. when the skin is a .dds it can be displayed in lfs.

so if you havent made a personal skin or saved a personal skin in the lfs/data/skins the folder will stay empty

Ey, If you still have your old pc:
then you can find then in the lfs folder : LFS_ROOT_FOLDER/Data/skins ( folder )
you maybe even want to copy the LFS_ROOT_FOLDER/Data/skins_x folder across (i got all the skins you downloaded from other people.)

If you dont have your old pc anymore, then you will need to get your (own) skins downloaded from lfsworld and safe it in the LFS_ROOT_FOLDER/Data/skins (folder)

How you still got your old pc, that the best way to go

Quote from dutchshogun :Nice idea! But what if I want to change my gear ratio?

Maybe you should make something like, only if you drive into your pitbox, you can go to the pits?

HEy , i think you miss understand the meaning .

Hard-core qualify is used in leagues like Master of Endurance , IGTC , LFS (Light) Cart and more.

if you are driving this league you allready made a setup before the qualification.

( hope it makes sence).

@ the original post:
i think there is allready a program out there that can do it. ( im not sure what the name is)

Quote from J@tko :

Or at least a large number of them. That way the adminning gets spread out and everyone has a nice choice of what to race.

like i said in my previous post,

this is exactly why this will not work, the strong point about CTRA is that you will always end up with the same report, no Mather what admin handles the report. if the driver did not agree with the report he could appeal and a different admin will handle the report to get a fresh view on the report.

Quote from Becky Rose :I don't think there is a future for a closed system. I think if there is to be a new system then it needs to connect to all servers. The concept of the CTRA was a good one, but there is huge room for improvement in the implementation. If I did it again I'd do away with server tiers and restricting content based upon licence and focus on additional content.

Im not 100% sure about this, i think "The Closed system" is just what you need. the reason why CTRA was a that big success was because of the reports and the closed doors, Every time the same admins, at least the same Rule book and professional admins.

(let me qoute your next part)

Quote from Becky Rose :
With a global mass server communication network you could then begin work on adding content, such a weekly competitions, by piping result data to a central website. All without yet even firing up your own server. From there you could establish a system of a 'pro' tintop and single seater server, taking all the top drivers from the previous weeks racing and channelling them into a weekly nominated server, which will help to make use of some of the lesser used combo's in LFS and distributes the job of stewarding to different server owners each week.

The problem that i see coming with this is reports. there are some server owners that want to use other rules then others. so when you get a penalty on one server you will have it on your record(account profile).

i think that a system like this is going to be very / too similar to Airio.

Lets say there will be some central reports, how will this be handled , how many people do you need for this. how can this be running.

(No qoute's now)(also @ Krammeh)
Like zeugnimod said, CTRA stopt because of the lack of admins. so if you want to make a new System, it need to be better at this. it needs to be able to get a hell lot of people / admins

some of the ways is to make it with money, for every report the admin will get money. thats on off the ways how you can keep the admins active.
( to get the money for this is going to be very hard )

EDIT:
Im not saying the the old CTRA just needs to turn on again, because that concept wont work anymore, there is indeed room for huge improvements, but you dont need forget the Key points of CTRA, with out the key points a new project wont work out

Hey,

First off all Its a very nice Idea and a very nice website, im getting a hell lot of good feedback from some people over at Concept Racing.

i would like to clear up some thinks, i hope you dont mind me asking it here.

1- About the Teams, in the rules is standing only 2 drivers for every team, does this means that a team like Concept racing only can join with 2 drivers or can we join with Concept Racing 1 and Concept Racing 2 ?

2- Is there going to be only 32 spots, or is this depending on the amount of interest?

Hope you can find me some answers,

Quote from menantoll :How would you know how IHR servers are going? You were permabanned about 20 days ago. Typical banned user post. You did something stupid enough to get permabanned so now you want to spoil the fun for everybody else. Grow up!

Totally agree,

I think most of us can see that the IHR guys are really trying to do there best. and that just good. Keep on going i would say, if you ask me its getting better and better...

Now it's more my work, I have other interests as well and there are now other things in life that are more important, but LFS is something I want to be proud of. Something that I want out there and being enjoyed.

I think you can already be proud of LFS, Just look at what you made in this few year. with only 3 people. i think you can really really be proud already!!

Quote from Scawen :
Anyway, we have not died and we are not sipping cocktails on a tropical beach. Actually we are working on LFS. I'm developing the physics, Victor is keep things running, Eric is working on things too. We've done a load of work that we want to release, partly for the excitement of it, but we also have mortgages and other bills to pay and the releases will increase sales, so financially it would also be a great idea to get it out there!

I will be happy to support financial at that time:P

Quote from LiveForBoobs :@Macfox this one might be more accurate.

lol, so what you are saying , becuase lfs world ( row data ) is not showing what you want it too show. you will find a other page / graph that shows the brandwith / traffic and then its accurate ( because it show the results what you want ).

well don't get me wrong . but its 100% in-accurate. what for information is this giving?
"The data is scaled based on the average search traffic of the term you’ve entered."

it displays how often somebody searched for Live For Speed. have you mind checking the word "lfs" what is showing a increasing graph?
(don't get me wrong, it still isn't proving anything, its just a example)

so like i said 100% in-accurate.

Quote from adamshl :So what?

 I thank god that developers don't share your thinking, because in LFS today, we would have 3 cars and 3 tracks, one configuration for each track.

you are 100% correct, I don't get why people wants that many different environment. I better have 10 environments with 100 configurations. instead of 20 environments or maybe 50 environment. i think there is noting wrong with the amount off configurations on one environment when lfs is doing.

Quote from matijapkc :You alredy have something like that. It's National, and only difference is the upper loop.

i think you are in correct here,

the thing about AS National is that it gets boring with slower cars. now this screen shot or AS South as he called it. is perfect with slower cars. its just way more cornering and not that long straids anymore. i really think that this could turn in too a very good track, if you ask me.

maybe i need to include that i love the AS Nat Rev ( first sector , and i love as club last sector ) so in my eyes the Dream !

Hey,

if you want to start with a Career then you will need to start with Karting. every drive at a padock now the days has got Karting experiance and also needs to have Karting experiance.

the only harder question is what class you want to drive. you can answere this in two ways. what are the local tracks running for Leagues. and what do you want.

Just a little history about me: I started with a 60cc 2 stroke what i borrowed from a friend of mine, after 2 days this was just too slow , i was 12 at that time.

after this my dad disiceded to buy a 100cc 2 stroke, and basicly this is where i really really learned to drive. i had 2 differend chassis, a birel and crg. having this you can really really start to under stand the Kart / engine. the main thing about the engine that you keep on changing the mix ( air / fuel ), in slower corners ( low rpm ) you want an other mix then in the high rpm range...

finaly when i was 14 i got my 125cc rotax max senior. i never drove the junior because at my local tracks they never drove it. the 125cc rotax senior is by far the most fun and speed. its even better for the budget because it never breaks...

anyhow , i hope you understand what i mean

Quote from tmehlinger :Not that I am moaning, but I just want to say that in hope that you will see it Scawen, you'll instruct the mods to start banning everyone who complains so you don't have to see this crap every time you log onto the forums.

I think this post is way out of line, btw as far as I know, Scawen isn't really a banner type of guy. as you can see Scawen/ Victor/ Erik/ 'the moderators' don't want to have a Race Sim Central Forums culture. they do not ban somebody when they tell there opinion, even when 'the moderators' / Scavier don't like what they are saying.

as far I know the only way you can get banned around here is when you cross the line. if you are insulting, doing illegal stuff, etc..

talking about insulting, your post comes close in my eyes.....

Quote from thezero :Seriously, piss off with that kind of sarcasm. I wouldnt say if i was trolling like half of mentaly handicaped retards does on this forum, but when i was giving out my honest opinion, i dont appreciate that kind of comments.

totally right, he got no reason to post something like that.

On topic:

Hope that they wont cos too much trouble with the more. it would be shit if something gets broken during the move. Lets hope for the best:P

Quote from tiagolapa :IMO the big factor is the smoothness of the available tracks.
Cars at speed are unstable only if they run over bumps.

i think that he is having a very good point here. for example if you try the swing* corner at the strait of the SO tracks, you will find it the most unstable corner in lfs. this is mainly because SO got a update ( 2 years ago) with muck more bumps.

an other point about the not that unstable has got more to do with the setups. because you can setup more in lfs ( for some cars too much, if you ask me ). it is easier to make the car handle better, more stable, better turning.

about GT5, im not sure about GT5 because i dont have a ps3. but about Forza 3, witch i got. it coming closer to LFS ( dont get me wrong here ). With Forza 3 you can setup and tweak your car setup. if you buy the Racing springs ( upgrade ) you will find that you can setup every car much better. in this way you can make it much more stable. (im not sure or GT5 has got sport springs, etc) as you probley know LFS has got at this moment only race springs, in other words Highly adjustable springs / dampers. i believe this is why LFS has got more stable cars.

maybe you know Bob Smith's Street cars setup pack. using this setups you will find the car much more unstable. its only a shame that most of the tracks in lfs are just too flat and doest have so many bumps...

(i hope this doesn't sounds like a fan boy post. at least i didn't try too)
