As Jakg said, there are demo racers that put alot of code / time in for this game.

Best way to help the LFS/S2 cause is viral marketing. If your into forums other than this one (heaven forbid ) put a link to LFS in your signature. Make the LFS url your name on MSN etc.

My signature on other sites, says; "The Worlds Most Realistic Driving Simulator" with a link to a really good youtube vid, and the main site.

The game speaks for itself, as wicked as it is.

I don't really do this hobby anymore but here are some old ones of mine, that being said I'm just sharing to add to the thread....I don't need C&C on any of these. They are all very old and I could probably find a 1000+ things wrong with each of them...lol

I think my heart rate is close to full blast if I'm inside and like one row back. I think my fear comes from not wanting to be "that guy" who takes out the whole field in turn one.....so I tend to loose a fair bit of ground in the first two turns until things spread out a bit.

The stock voice in pitspotter is not very soothing, this may help get the heart rate up......I need the voice of Cate Blanchett wispering "on your left" that would calm me down...lol

Quote from TyresHot :the easy truth: Bush is not a human, an animal or something else.

LMAO.... Maybe he's the first human clone?, Perhaps papa bush's sperm stoped swimming, so he decided to call into the CIA lab one day to find out what they could do. It's just too bad the technology wasn't quite as advanced as it needed to be back then....lol

This HD video trailer shows just how "floaty" the physics are in the game, nice graphics yeah but it's such a wast to make games like this.

Quote from thisnameistaken :OT... Wouldn't you have to feck with the signal to get it to project without distorting onto a curved surface?

I would assume the fisheye look you get from 120 degree field of view would look fine on a slightly curved screen, somone on here (name escapes me) plays on a curved screen, but with one projector.

That game apears from the videos I've watched to have the same gameplay as the ps2 F1 titles (horrible) but with alot of special effects. The road surface and tires are just wrong, but some other stuff is very impressive.

I was so excited for the PS3, and it still may come out on top as the PS1 was lame when it first hit the market too. My gf's brother is video game journalist of sorts, and has all 3 consoles, and 99% of the games for all of them and none of the PS3 games make you say wow, or give you any real reason to get excited.
Quote from ajp71 :Hate to say it but even my computer could produce those visuals without a silly motion blur effect. PS3 games would look crap if you plugged them to a PC. Having said that anyone plugged LFS into their TV? Alot of graphics cards seem to offer this now what's better for playing sims TVs or monitors?

I play on my 42" plasma, but there are much better setups that that. I could have bought 2 decent projectors and made a curved screen, that would be my choice in hindsight....lol, although 2 more plasma's on a tripple head would be nice too.

Quote from Becky Rose :ROFL

Logo's are usually registered trademarks, not copyrighted. It would achieve little to copyright a corporate identity, it's all about the trademark. Anyway having your logo used by sim racers on their cars is a bonus. What would be insulting is sim racers starting up companies using your registered trademark, but nobody here is doing that with their skins - are they?

EDIT: Let me put it in context: If I put my company logo on the next software product (which I will, incidentally) then it'll have the registered trademark logo. If I put a copyright logo next to that then i'm implying the product itself is copyrighted, not the logo. To copyright the product I need a seperate, standalone, statement of copyright - and a bank safe...

The reason I used the term copyright is because trademark infringement is using the logo for your own product and passing it off as your own, not the case here.

Having a registered trademark does not mean it's free of copyright. All intellectual property rights overlap it's not a case of one or the other.

Being the owner of these intellectual rights gives you the ability to set your own guidelines and restrictions for using and reproducing their logos. These guidlines do fall under the copyright act.

Most of the larger companies like IBM, Coke, Honda etc, have very strict rules pertaining to the use of their logos. While I'm sure hip companies like redbull and DC shoes are flattered and thankful for the promotion, do you really think Honda want's its "H" emblem on the front or back of the XRT? or appearing as the manufacturer of any of the current live for speed cars? Many manufacturers don't even like having their cars in games with severe damage modelling let alone their brand identity on cars that don't even look like their products.

My only point was that I find it funny and hypocritical to get outraged over say, some 14 year old kid using your skin that is plastered with logos you had no right to reproduce in such a manner in the first place, that's it.

Quote from Gunn :The skinners get mad at their designs being ripped, not at the use of common logos. I also design logos for a living and they also get stolen, even by popular logo sites who like to inform everyone that the logos are not clipart or whatever.

It also takes allot of work and skill/ craftsmanship to steal a bunch of cars, chop them up, put them back together into the thieves own creation. I sure if you stole their end result, they would get mad too. However they would be hypocrites for those feelings.

^^That was for the purpose of analogy. I'm not saying stealing a logo to make a skin is the same as stealing a car, but in some cases the price paid for copyright infringement is much larger than that for grand theft auto.

I'm not a religious man but i do agree with "let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

If you want to call a skin or any artwork "yours" then you must be the sole creator of said work, or be granted rights to the intellectual property used to create it.

EDIT: oh and to Hurts2bestock, That one very tasty honda!! i love the colour and those dark rims go beatyful with it!! please send me those pics sometime to [email protected], thats one tasty car. and about you saying you wanted to drop another engine or something like that...psssstt get a integra type_r engine in it!! lol

That sounds like a really cool league to race in, as far as the pics of my car are sure you want the originals cause they are fairly big (almost 4megs each)? You can always right click and save the ones I posted there

As far as swaps go, everyone I know with a K swap says it doesn't make for much of a daily driver as the ridged Hasport mounts make the car shake like crazy even at idle. Also I've driven some monster FWD ek, and eg body civics and all that horsepower feels like a waste to me with the traction issues you get from wheel drive. I'd rather have a RWD if I was to get into the expensive hobby of engine building.

I do a fair bit of things differently but it's an excellent place to start with virtual modding.. http://www.digimods.co.uk/tutorials/tutorials.htm

One thing he does that is very wierd IMO is using the polygon laso in place of the pen tool.
It's never to early to get some skills using the bezier/pen tool for drawing.

Quote from Gunn :There's more to a skin than just the logos. The artwork for example.

Well I design logos for as a part of my living, and I can tell you logo design can take up to several months. Whilst putting up with some of the most frustrating client interactions you can ever imagine just to get them done.

I said it was hypocritical for a thief to get mad at someone stealing his work, which it is, if you want to argue with that then please explain...IMO its like feeling sorry for a bank robber when his car gets stolen.

I forgot to mention that I'm 29, but I have "slow" genetics I supose, as I still get mistaken for 18-21 on a regular basis..lol
Quote from mrodgers :Tis very true. I raced with C.Modoff and W.Gooden for about a year and a half before I found out they were both only 16. Here I had always thought they were both around 25. Sheesh, they were around 14 and a half when I first met them.

Infiniti is another one. He had posted here when he turned 16 and got his driver's license. LOL, always thought he was at least older than 25 as well.

In the flight simming, I regularly fly with a 14 year old kid over in California. Very mature, and VERY good sim pilot as well.

You just never know. You could be battling it out on the track with a 60 year old to the left and a 15 year old to the right, LOL. As long as they are mature and good sim racers, then the age is wiped out and we all are the same age .

(I'm 34 BTW, which I already posted my age a year ago in this thread, or the other one, can't remember if this one is new or not)

The strange thing being our age group, (30ish) is that when we were younger gaming was only for kids, and now the sales demographic for xbox and PS is 20-40...lol

Quote from Davo :Nothin is stopping you from taking a screnshot in cmx viewer or in game, just don't post up the actualk skin, but even then it's upto the other person not to steal it. Anyone can copy a skin from skin_x.

What I find funny is anyone that uses copyrighted brand name logos in their skin is a hypocrite for thinking the artwork belongs to them...the typical argument is "hey I worked long and hard on that skin" as if the designer for advan or brembo did absolutely nothing to create the logo....lol. The artist steals and uses said logo without any permission and then thinks the artwork is theirs....lol....if one of my logo covered skins ends up in your skin x folder feel free to "steal" it.

Quote from Racer Y :LOL farenheit 911... If you had any idea what michael moore does with editing and sound bytes to twist things, then yeah it is funny.....
TV Nation was cool

That's what so funny about you.... foreigners from the 51st state
everything you bash the mother country* for is almost exactly word for word the stuff I hear espoused by I hear on telivision by so-called policy experts that in reality have dubious credentials yet get put on TV because of their provacative views. See provocative gets attention and attention brings advertising $$$$.
Like take Iraq (please) Every day you see some sorta car bombing or mortar attack or whatever.... Yet that's almost always in Bagdad and it's metropolitan area.
there's more to Iraq than just that city. there's a whole damn country and nothing ever really gets reported on in the rest of the place... like the LACK of violence Why? Who wants to see a couple a kids kicking a ball in a playground when you can see grieving mothers and dead kids? How could justifing the opinions that these "experts" come up with be done when there ain't no shouting and gunfire? And it's the doomsday experts that bring the $$$ in.

A good example of this is Egytology.
See when an archeologist publishes a book defining egyptian life and culture based on their findings, it's usally one of the dustiest books in the library. But when an "expert" in the paranormal writes some rant about UFOs building the Pryamids, It makes the NY Times best seller list, gets a movie that's "based on true events" made and the writer hits the talk show circuit. AND the majority of the sheep eat that crap up, never even hearing of the works by the scientist.
That's what's happening to alot of y'all with Bush.

If you REALLY wanna know what's going wrong with Bush's policies in Iraq
it's he had too many civilians in charge of high level operations, instead of field commanders on the ground. Yep he seems to be dictated by his own bunch of "experts" like some a y'all.

but like I've posted before, the President of the USofA ain't OUR leader, he's yours and LOL since the political pendulum we have is now swinging back towards the left, your next president will be a Euro trash all time favorite.

Yes prepare for two terms of policy change, more bad decisions,
and an escalation in global hostilities from established thugs wanting to try the new kid in the house.
You know something tells me, she's gonna make Margaret Thatcher and Vera Peron
look like Mother Teresa and Florence Nightengale

Ok going back to Iraq, since that's what this thread is REALLY about.
The policies are a dismal failure. that simple. A whole lot of underestimating was done based on bad intelligence. And on the same token, SOMETHING had to be done about Saddam. If you honestly don't think he was financing terrorists and trying to get WMDs, you're kidding yourself. As for the WMDs...He may not have had anything concrete, but would it have been wise to wait around and let him?
And the sectarian violence that's outta control. uh yeah... and this was bound to happen sooner or later, invasion or not. IMHO, I think it's an extension of the rivalries already in existence since probably before Saddam. I also don't think the resulting sectarian violence was takien into account. I think the Bush bunch thought they'd come in like the Lone Ranger and Tonto and all that would be needed was to roll the credits.
And will the 20 thousand additional troops to be deployed there be of any use if they are to bolster the current strategy. As serious as what this is, I think more attention should be payed to these other areas like what I described earlier in the post. See there are some elements that are clearly fully autonomous and may think that their relations in surrounding countries need to be as well.
I can see the defensive logic Iran and Syria may have concerning the region, but their overall strategies are even stupider than ours.
And one thing that REALLY gets me about our mistakes in Iraq that NEVER EVER gets mentioned is how Turkey seems to be getting the shaft on this.
Turkey is our ally. The Turks have been with us through thick and thin since the post WW II era. and I think our policies over there are basically ignoring the insights and needs of the Turks (I also like Dick Dale's guitar playing) Turkey has enough problems dealing with the EU. The Last thing they need is some spill over from a conflict mis-managed by a bunch of civilian pencil pushers and poll monitors in DC.

Ok I'm tired a typing and wanna go race now... uh that lame comment about the 51st state... sorry please don't be too offended. ever since I seen Formula 51, Meat Loaf's line has stuck in my head

Do you think it's fair to expect us to read all of that, when you don't put the slightest effort into the basics of the English language or sentence structure?

At least thirty percent of your words are severely misspelled and there is only about 3 real sentences in that entire post. Not exactly a good way to get a point across. I read it twice, and it in the language it was intended to be written in, (English I assume) it makes no sense what so ever.

Quote from Xaid0n :heh yeah but its always increasing, most kids prefer to spend time outside causing trouble then spending time doing "family" things, like eating together, talking, messing around etc, that was the point i was trying to make.

I wholeheartedly agree, with that I'm just saying that IMO most problems/issues with teens /familys are universal, not local.

We tend to put blame on the teens themselves or the families, when in an almost linear fashion, the rise of such social problems have rose with the changes in media, marketing comunications and the overall balance of pay to the average worker.

If you look at the countries that have the larger share of the socially caused problems you find quite often that, they are also the countries that have the larger ratio of lowest/highest paid worker in a company, advancements in impersonalized communications, advanced states of marketing, and therefore consumerism etc...

Quote from XCNuse :yea if they have jackass parents that dont care one bit about their kids and buy them cellphones, credit cards, and ipods when they are like... 8..

Thats exactly it!
