how do you do a "crash dump"?

Quote from Kegetys :Well, bluescreens can only happen when there is a hardware or driver fault (Unless you run a Win95 based OS :P) so it really cannot be caused by the ghostcar mod. Something it does might trigger a bug in the video card driver for example, but I cannot do anything about that.

Well, if the same thing happens for 2 people trying the mod it has to be caused by it, even if it's not its fault.
But it think we can rule out hardware faults, because it's very unlikely that avih and i bought exactly the same faulty hardware
So it has to be the driver if it's not the mod, i use FW 81.94 with a GF7800GT and the latest drivers for an nForce4 Ultra chipset.

Maybe you should "release" the tool in the addon section, so more people will see and try it, maybe we can find the reason for the blue screens.

But it still doesn't sound like a driver problem, if it just happens the first time you crossed the line tbh. And that was the first bluescreen since 2 years or so.

Quote from tristancliffe :The trouble with ghost cars is that you can use them to drive a lap much faster than if you do not have a ghost car. So hotlaps will be artificially closer as people do laps they could not hope to do driving on their own. Which kind of defeats the point of hotlapping imo... One drivers versus the others in almost equal cars (i.e. setups).

illepall i highly doubt that...

Quote from avih :Yup, I've had exactly same ecperience. Complete and immidiate reboot 1st time I've tried it, but your post convinced me to give it another go. And it works beautifully. Great mod indeed.

yes, when i was over the line, 1sec later a very short blue screen and then an immidiate reboot.
I tried it again for a few laps and it worked fine.

yes, that's really a great mod, although it caused a BSOD here the first time i tested it.

Quote from ORION :It's the same - a stronger slipstream will also "last" longer.
With an infinitely strong splipstream, the observer car can also be infinetaly far away without leaving it

he wasn't talking about the duration. And most racetracks aren't just a straight line.

yes, and i think we can agree, that understeer and locked wheels is not the problem in LFS. That's how it should be!

please, i can't believe some of you really say it's realistic!
Have you ever seen a F1 car spin behind another one because of sudden aeroloss? I don't, but in LFS it happens all the time.
The major problem F1 cars have behind another car is the amount of air they get for the intakes, that's why they can't slipstream on the straights and therefore can't overtake.
Of course it affects the aredynamics in the corners, but they don't lose downforce at all like in LFS.

And an even better example is the DTM. They have highly developed aerodynamics (looks at all those silly flaps), and they can race behind each other with 1m distance. looks at the fight between ekström and paffet in oschersleben.
And then look at a GTR race in lfs, it's just not realistic.

Quote from [RCG]Boosted :slipstream too long? i would say its to short.
just for example, GTI vs GTI im behind him on 180 KMH.

he said it's too strong, not too long

you'll need a little bit german for this page

now you can copy text from LFS into other programs and actually read it!

not just some random color codes

yes, that shouldn't happen. You get a time penalty in the last 3 laps. In the last 3 laps of the race, not yours. So if you are more than 3 laps behind the leader, you can still get a DT penalty.
Another problem are time based races, where you always get a ST or SG penalty.

it was the "multiplays speedup option". i just enabled it.

this has to be enabled. It doesn't matter if dynamic details reduction is set to 0.0 and car draw to the max then, it runs perfect at 32x.

Quote from MadCatX :This is OK I think. I am also unable to speed-up replay more than 8x. 16x work qiute ok, 32x is "lagga-lagga" and after a while it slows back to 1x again. Check if you have all background tasks terminated(firewalls, anitiviruses etc.) Also check your BIOS settings if you know what to do there If it is a new PC, your BIOS might be set to faik-safe" settings that reduces peformance

In 32x replay acceleration your CPU must calculate physics 4x FASTER than in 8x mode, and that is pretty much more loadement on it....

the performance is not the problem. LFS runs great, as all other games do. It's just the speedup that doesn't work.

there were some guys in the german forum who did 17 hours iirc.

I think they were allowed to have a 5min break every hour.
Problem with Fast Forward in Replays
inCogNito
S2 licensed
Well, with my old PC i had the problem that i couldn't speed up the replay to 32x, it was just a slideshow, but 16x was fine (in chasecam at least).

Now i got i new PC (Athlon64 3500+, GF 7800GT, 1GB Ram). LFS runs smooth, i got about 130fps with full AA/AF and max settings.
But i can't speed up to more than 8x. If it's at 16x or more, it just a slideshow again and goes back to 1x.
That happens in every camera view and even at 640x480!

Does anybody know the reason for this? Is it an option LFS that i maxxed out that don't like fast forward?

Maybe someone knows the problem and/or a solution for this.
It's a little bit annoying if you need to fast forward a replay and can only use 8x.

edit: ah, i think i got it!

There are pitstops required (VSQMP), but you can't pit on sprint1. But anyway, it's not really funny, because everyone could change the track when the server is empty. Maybe someone just wanted to try out the combo.

LFSW hosts and racer stats title mixed up

If you look at the stats:

i think the title of the graphs is mixed up. Imho it should be the other way around. hosts schould be racers and vice versa.

i wonder where red bull got all the money from. They have only one product. Ok, it's totally overpriced and marketleader, but still, you can't drink red bull the whole day.
And on the other hand they are definitely the company with the most sponsoring around. Especially in the young and fun sports, there is no event without a red bull sponsoring.
Not to mention motorsports: 2 F1 teams, the junior formula teams, Dakar Rally, DTM, etc.

the bad thing is, they will lose sales through this (hopefully), and in the end they blame it on the pirates illepall
