By the sound of whats been said, Go into your procceses menu (Ctrl+alt+del) then the procceses tab if you didint know^ then see what you have running with it in order of mem usage, also as JakG got me to do do a lap or so on lfs with the perfomance graph open and see what pritty picture you get

Quote from yoyoML :I think they "score" on something like speed*angle, so being fast or having large angle alone won't win, but the combination. Large HP definitely allows for more speed at a certain angle.

IIRC they're beginning to install some angle and speed detectors on the cars so they can judge better. The "show" factor is still up to the judges and spectators, which is just like ice skating, for example.

To my knowledge its based on your entry/exit speed (sometimes your smoke) your angle and how well you keep to your line. but this is just what i think i know

Edit:
Quote from Gunn :No, they hate drifters because so many young people with immature behaviour happen to be attracted to drifting. Therefore you see a lot of drifters in the community who are a total PITA, many of whom don't understand what a race simulator is and who often will make suggestions that are irrelevant to the development of a race sim, and they often voice their opinions in annoying ways.
This type of behaviour is not limited to any group of players but manifests itself most often with players who openly support drifting. Therefore an animosity towards that group builds up over time and people form stereotypical opinions about the group as a whole.

Many drifters seem to go out of their way to try and make an issue of the "us VS them" debate, which incidentally, only usually rears it's ugly head when drifters make threads like this one. Many drifters act all victimised when somebody suggests that a race sim should concentrate on developing features pertaining to racing, instead of drifting. Some people seem to take it personally that this is a race simulator and not a drift simulator. It is what it is. Don't take it personally.

It's only natural that some kind of division occurs.

The division here isn't really about the drifting, it's about people's attitudes and behaviour towards a group of people who coincidentally like drifting.

Ok i understand where this is coming from, but the plain mature people who like drifting seem to get stuck in the middle of it (Sorry if im wrong) Plus jumping a few questions there, i didnt even say i was a drifter in that top post, but tbh i am, but meh, i was just interested and it seems to be turninginto a rant fest again :|

Well after reading the final two pages of that...(which im guessing wasnt the worse or if it since all the retard chavs and children gave up trying to read the "long paragraphs") I see both sides have valid points and it just about 5-20% of each side which screw it up and make it seem worse, and im guessing this is becuase they are remembered for the retarded sentances like "Driftorz pwnz im like drifttin kingg am fassttt meee" etc, So thanks for solving this question for me .
"Drift Resistance" What is with this?

Ok as you can see (maybe from my postcount) i dont read or post on the forums much...but out of pure interest im interesting in what a few handfuls of people find wrong with drifting? Ok yes its not exacly racing...but it can be measured in ways making it a motosport competition...is this not the equivelent of people saying drag racing isnt a motorsport or racing? To me this seems very weird...and im interested in why people think all these things?

Quote from Stang70Fastback :Hmmmm, yea - IDK then. This FX is really starting to aggravate me. There is no reason for it being so hot, and it's not even running that fast!

Well, you may not have a high resolution, but you also don't have that large of a screen, so it's still probably somewhat sharp. I'm assuming you have a 15" widescreen based on that resolution? LFS will probably look a bit better on a higher density screen, but that really is not important. The only difference a higher resolution will have (other than lowering your framerate) will be to produce a sharper image with cleaner, thinner lines (like around objects and such.) I'm one to notice those kinds of details, but I think most people don't seem to recognize tiny changes like that. With proper AA though, a high-res screen is a beauty to look at - much less pixellation.

Ignoring games for a second though, I myself hate working with anything lower than 1280 x 1024, because today's modern programs tend to have so many toolbars that lower resolutions leave very little actual workspace. I think you'll find that you'd benefit from a higher resolution simply in ease of use. If you are at all looking into a new monitor, look for something in the range of 19". Acer, for example has some very nice, inexpensive products.

Ok cheers, Just so you know when i made that post i wasnt at home, and the resolution is actully 1026x768 i just toke a educated guess
Anyway, Cheers for your help etc, im off to get some software and have a play around
Cheers for all your help...

In extra notes...wow a forum in which the majority atleast attempt to speak proper english... im impressed

Another Overclocking post, Geforce 6200

Ok since ive established my procceser isnt going to overclock to well, im thinking of my graphics card, (geforce 6200), Will overclocking this thing get me much improvement whatssoever or is it not worth the risks of overheating with my standard cooling system since the 6200 dosnt have its own built in fan.

Cheers.

Quote from ajp71 :Not having Turbocache is good, it's a system that integrates graphics memory with your system to artificially increase the performance of the graphics card at the expense of processor/system RAM performance, if the graphics aren't holding you back you don't want Turbocache

You may be able to get away with it, I can run a bit with no real drop in LFS on my card (9600 Pro) but leave it off so I don't have to fiddle when I launch more demanding games. I have found that there was actually no real world performance drop switching from 1280x960 to 1600x1200 in HL2 and none in LFS (except for single car offline), which rather surprised me and should give you a bit of hope that cranking the graphics up might not make a difference, just don't increase the number of physics objects (by not changing car draw distance) and you may not even see a drop in FPS.

How much graphics differnce is my resoultion going to make with lfs? when i get home tonight im going to stick some AA after getting some software sorted, but i believe part of my problem with lfs not looking as nice maybe caused by my 15" screen with a max resoulotion of 1024x800

Just a quick question, if i get some of my software sorted out and stick some AA on is my pc going to handle it or will i lag crazy? Just interested becuase LFS sure loooks sexy with it

Hadn't been paying much attention to this topic, But questions i need to answer: The 6200 isnt a Le/Turbocache its just a standard 6200 cheapo from down the stoor

I'm going to leave the overclocking for now.

Now if realy neccaseraly carry on bantering

Cheers for all your help.

Logitech Dfp, Good starting wheel?
jimaxx
S2 licensed
Well im thinking about getting a wheel, and for my price range (probably about £60-£100) this seems a good place to start,
my simple questions are:
How much more control would i have than with my keyboard? (full return and steer rates)
Is it worth the money?
Will it be easy enough to set up?
Once im used to it will drifting and/or powerslide control be anyeasier?

Thanks in advance

Hmm that might be an idea, but the one computer shop that hasn't shut down in my area seems a bit expensive...My friend got a Fx5600(128mb) and it cost him £40 :| later in the year thats how much my 6200(256mb) cost me, the only time i ever use it is if i dont want to wait for my parts

TeamBlitz Drifting,

TeamBlitz drifting is a fairly new team, hopefully going to be based in demo and s2, our forums are currently in construction ( www.teamblitz.god-gaming.co.uk ) we currently have only 4 members with a range of drifting skills from learner -> (in my opinion) Very good, we are essantialy acceptiing all drifters as long as you have a good attitude, The skin is still currently in wip stage.

My budgets about £380 :| And yeah i realise its a little crap...but its a huge improvement from my current, and as the cheapest graphics card i can get with this 7300 is my only option realy, if its an improvement from a plain 6200 (pritty sure it should be) then im happy

EDIT: Building the computer myself, Probably not, ive never fitted a procceser nor touched the fitting of a motherboard, the only things ive realy fitted are graphics cards hard drives etc :|

Cheers,
