After Hup recovered the positions he lost from that incident he was 15 seconds behind Roque - whom he was alongside going into turn one. The (neutral) admins rejected your protest in IGTC and they upheld ours in MoE - enough said.
This isn't a protest, but I noticed after watching a replay of the start that lots of cars seemed to be breaking the rules.
03 Roque was clearly too close to 01 Mooney at the start - he was actually ahead of 04 Schade who was supposed to start ahead of him. There were also cars who spun during the pace lap before retrieving the lost places - 41 Ristic spun and proceeded to honk his horn at other cars while overtaking them - obviously assuming that he was allowed to resume from his original position.
Is there any possibility that the start could be studied by the admins for a few minutes at the beginning of each race? It seems that on every start there are a few people that get away with breaking the rules. Otherwise, I think I'll look at it myself next time and just protest against anyone who seems to be breaking the rules without regard!
This particular area annoys me more than others as - given the relative calm on the pace lap - people breaking the rules must be doing so in a calculated manor (cheating).

Reason : Attached a screenshot of the start.
Lap two (first flying lap).

Sector one, turn two
Commander spun Heikki at turn one - it's cut-and-dried.
Is a replay needed? We'd have to wait until the end of the first stint and I think it's more fair that they're penalised early and are therefore dropped back as we have been.
Edit: Corrected the team. Big SORRY to Harry and 3ID!

StableX - from what I can see, the systems on meshcomputers.com all come with Vista. I don't really want to pay for that as I've already got a copy of ultimate. I'm struggling to find detailed info on the components as well such as the memory brand.
Jak - what do you think of this system, with the 4gb memory upgrade?
You are right to say that I should look around for a few hours. I have actually been doing this every now and then for several months - the trouble really is that I know very little about which components are worth getting. I've been looking at various benchmarks and comparisons this afternoon, and I think I've now got some idea of the relative performance of the latest mid-range ATI and nVidia cards, and the performance of Q6600 vs. E8400.
Oops, I totally didn't notice Jak's second post! Sorry about that, mate.
If you guys think it's a good system and a fair price I might just buy it. I don't have a lot of time to piss around because I've got some work to be doing in the next couple of weeks.
Is it likely to be worth my while looking around for better prices (and self-building)?
Edit: Any idea how quick OcUK are at getting their systems out? The system that Jak linked shows 10+ in stock.
Also, can anyone recommend a decent 2.1 speaker system? I'm not an audiophile looking to spend £1k on a bose or something.
Well I think you've highlighted the fact that I need some help .
I do see the benefits in building a system myself, which is why I've done that in the past. The main problem I have is that I don't actually know which components (brand and model) I should be getting! I don't know about the reliability and performance of the various video cards, CPUs etc. on offer, and in the past I don't think I've made the best decisions about what to go for.
Preferably pre-built, but if it's going to save me a good amount (£30+) I can probably deal with building it myself, as I've done so once or twice in the past. I've no experience when it comes to sticking heat sinks to the CPU and that sort of thing. If you're able to drive Jak (I think I'm near you), maybe I could pay you to assemble it?
Edit: Just noticed you're actually in Suffolk, that probably wouldn't be practical then.
I've been looking to replace my 5-6 year old system since it was a 3-4 year old system, and following the fan failure and resulting graphics card meltdown on Friday night I've decided that it's finally time to bite the bullet!
My budget is somewhere around the £700 mark, although I might be willing to spend up to £1,000 for a system that represents significantly better value.
I'm ideally looking for something which would make a decent gaming system - although I don't play a lot of games, so I'm not overly fussed about being able to play crysis on high settings etc.
I already have Vista, a monitor, keyboard & mouse but I could do with a new sound card and would like some 2.1 speakers to replace my current cheap, 10 year old crap-job.
I could understand and support an approach similar to the one used in January's 24h race, where cars were positioned approximately in the position on track that they were in before the server went down.
However, what's being discussed here is the time difference between each car after the first part of the race. Can you suggest something reasonable which could be done post-race to incorporate those results, considering the fact that everyone finished with different lap counts, either side of the winning car?
Are you capable of forming a cogent argument or can you only insult people?
Okay, so you think that they should account for the time differences after the first "race"? Do you at least appreciate the numerous difficulties presented by this approach?
Why exactly did you think that the time differences would be accounted for? The admins said that they would take the first part of the race into account and they did. I was very confident that the time differences would be ignored, and that's why I told the drivers of our GT2 car to take it easy after your disconnect.
If the race ran for twelve hours, and no one had any disconnects then yes, F1rst would have won the GT2 class. You would also have come 3rd in the GT1 class.
Do you guys really believe that adjusting times for each team based on the first 200 minutes of the race could possibly be a good idea? This would make on-track passes completely irrelevant, and what happens if a team is 'virtually' 3 minutes behind another? When do you decide that a gap equates to a lap?
Go and actually think through the logistics of it and maybe you'll understand why it's such a crap idea.
Of course not, but that doesn't mean I'm going to have a go at the admins who are clearly doing the best job they can with little time, lots of pressure and no money. Imo, the comment from Arco was disrespectful and rudely written.
Wtf? Don't you think the admins try to solve this kind of thing at the time? Somehow I don't think arsey comments like this are going to be any help at all.
First of all; thanks to the admins for giving us all the opportunity to race in IGTC! I can't imagine how much work goes into running it - I honestly think you've all done an excellent job throughout the season.
Mad props to CoRe, ConeDodgers, The Danish Racing Team and My3id for a really competitive and close-fought season. Special mention to Schnuffel as well for coming in with three races to go and completely raising the bar!
Finally, congratulations to my teammates for winning the championship! Jari ".deFINe." Mattila, Marc "MarcG" Gassner, Heikki "Hawku" Jaakkola and, finally, Teemu "Misan" Hirvonen, who drove in every race, all did a superb job for the team.
