I'm not a network guru either, I just followed the tutorial for my rooter and since this setup works for me for over two years now, I left it this way.
Tbh, my motivation for research and trying new ways of doing things vanishes as soon as I have my job done (ie don't fix it if it is already working).
But surely I don't want to keep doing things wrong just cause they work, so I'll try you way also
Widdowmaker, I totally understand what you are saying and you have some strong points but as a personal opinion of course I'd rather unbind the reset button once and for all.
Yes, it seems harsh to shift-s if you flip over, but it adds a liitle thrill to the game not having the reset option. Plus no more popping cars in the middle of the chicanes.
And tbh I think Scawen removed that mid-option reset (reset car but no fixed damage) on purpose, as a way to discourage us from using it.
It's multiplayer incompatible with W, so just create a copy of your LFS folder and apply the patch there. Then you can have two independent LFS installations to do your testing.
The best you could do imo is to download the current full LFS_W and make a fresh installation.
Then, since you can have two LFS instances open at the same time, launch your old demo LFS, press shift-F4 to switch to window mode and launch the fresh LFS_W installment also. Press shift-F4 again and now you can visually copy paste the settings from one window to another.
EDIT
OK, I thought you messed up the settings files but it seems that it's the famous limiter trouble again.
Disregard the above and just tap the "L" button as Btoryo said.
The problem is that my antivirus (avast) didn't located it, although I did more than one whole disk scans, but there is a very good service by kaspersky, a free online antivirus scanner http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner . (You don't have to be online during the scan, you just download the program and the signatures and then it searches your disks locally)
Download it and let it scan your whole PC, then you can manually delete the parasites.
It happens to me also from time to time to me.
The screen locks and the sound is having a constant loop.
It doesn't seem to be hardware related, and it's not from the current patch either.
I haven't found out a pattern that causes it, but I think it happens more often when I change the cars/tracks/setups all the time, almost like it has something to do with mouse clicks, but I can't really determine the true cause.
The good news
I have found out though that if you press ctrl-shift and esc immediatelly after the freeze happens, 9 out of 10 times you 'll bring the task manager in front and then you can end the LFS process from there, saving the hard reset. Then you can restart LFS and continue playing, cause the computer is just fine, no need even for soft reset.
No, this line goes together with the virtual clocks in the custom view
If you want to hide it you have to disable the virtual clocks and leave only the reals on.
About the speedometer now, there is an option in Display Settings (4th from the top) called "Digital speedo" set it to yes to have a digital speedometer instead of the analogue. (much more convenient imo)
So in short is no & no, but there are some alternatives
