I would love to see the people who are laps behind me in a different color in the minimap.
It would be a great help I think.
In addition I want to see the place of a driver in front/behind/above his name (name above car). Maybe the information that the car is overlapped too.
For me it's not necessary to number (1st, 2nd, 3rd,...) the edges in the map. I only need to know who is in front of me, who is behind me and who is overlapped. Maybe the leader could be extra marked by a dot inside the edge or extra colored.
In addition it would be nice to know how far (in seconds) the (two) guys in front or behind me are away from me. I wanna know if I am comming closer to the racer in front of me or I am loosing time.
i have a little update for my castrol-skin as a long time ago requested. I haven't had much time for lfs so much time past since I posted my first version here.
OK. Hope you like the new version too (without the "shell-logo" of course)
I installed the U13 patch (before I had the U11, no U12).
Now, when I start lfs (with quick start) and go to singleplayer the track selection menu appears. In U11 I chose there the track, then the config.
But now with these numbers behind the tracknames (number stands for config, but no reverse config) I was very confused, I thought this was a bug :reallydidnt tested U12).
my question: Is this the way it should be / it's wanted to be?
This number thing is a little bit strange to me. And for a beginner this would be a quite confusing way to select a track-config (for me too, cause I dont know the right number for each config).
I hope this will be changed.
Is there an option to switch between U11 style and U13 style? I didn't find one.
Yeah. Maybe you should be able to config the forces for every view (cockpit, custom) seperately.
Its not nice to change them every time when making a movie. Espeacially when you have to end the mpr-replay to change the custom view or the forces.
like the title says, I want an option that focuses the camera in shift+u mode on the selected car.
In this way it is easier to change the camera angle while focusing on the car without having this mouse-movement effect. Do you know what I mean?
With the up/down/left/right keys you would still be able to watch the car at different angles and distances but still focused.
(is there a key for tilting (moving up/down) the camera? )
An auto-rotation mode like in superbike 2000/2001 would also be nice.
So the camera constantly rotates around the selected car. Maybe with adjustable speed.
An additional improvement would be to being able to select a second car. So the camera automatically keeps the 2 selected cars in focus. So you are able to see your car and your chaser behind you without having trouble with the mouse. With the tap-key (or another) you should be able to change the second selected car.
Still, the shift+u camera view direction is relative to the track. So when you don't change the camera position the camera watches i.e. to north all the time. So when the car turns you see i.e. the back instead of the front. So you have to correct the camera angle with the mouse, what is not very good to handle when you want a smooth movement (when making movies).
It would be nice to have an option that enables that the camera is relative to the car. So it would be like the standard chasing view. But you can still move the camera (i.e. from behind view moving to position at driverdoor and then looking trough the window and watching the driver). In this way you are able to move the camera while the car drives a corner without correcting the camera angle with the mouse.

It would also be nice to rework the shift-U camera movement borders. Esspacially at Southcity. Every time the car/camera comes close to the wall the camera doesn't go futher. It would be nice when this would be handled like the pit walls. So the camera "jumps" over the wall.
I think all this would help a lot making movies easier and makes watching replays more relaxed.
Hope you understood all my suggestions because my english is not perfect .
1- I just want to ask why it isn't possible in mutiplayer-replays to press "esc" and then coming to the options-menue like in singleplayer-replays?
I ask because sometimes I want to change the custom-cam or other options (i.e. for making movies). But when I press "esc" in multiplayer-replay the replay ends and returns to main-screen. It would be nice to handle that like in singleplayer-replays.
2- In addition: I know that this have been often discussed, but can you add a function in replays to jump lap-wise? I mean like in "Nascar Series 2003" where you can click on a button and then the replay jumps a lap forward (or backward). Maybe it would be possible to jump sector-wise .
I know you mentioned before that there is a problem with the AI (because its dynamic) or something similar. But maybe this could be made for multiplayer-replay only?
3a- For making movies it would also be nice when you are in shift+U mode to have a option that focuses the cam to the selected car. Than it would be much easier to film the car without this mouse-movement-effect. An additional automatic mode that moves the cam around the car continuously would be nice too (like in superbike 2000/2001).
3b- Maby an additonal option would be nice that focuses on the aktual car AND on a second selected car that i.e. is behind/or in front of the aktual car.
(sorry for my **** english :shy
Nice to see that there is something going on with lfs
Note: I don't have the black-screen problem (lfs fullscreen --> multiplayerbrowser windowed --> lfs fullscreen)
[EDIT:] I also would like to see being able to adjust the forces (head tilt, lateral shift, forward shift, vertical shift) and the "look function" for the custom view seperately (maby for each car seperately too).
When adujusting views for movies I have to adjust the forces to zero for a outside cam. And for cockpitview I have to change them back to the normal values.
Espacially in combination with the "esc" issue (see point 1) this is until jet not perfect handelt.
I think while racing online it's not necessary to have 1024-skins, because you are focused on racing.
But sometimes you watch replays or even make movies. For this case it would be nice to have an option to download 1024-skins or 2048-skins before starting the replay.
Like: "Do you wish to download hires-skins?" --> "yes" or "no"
Similar to the option to download the skin from lfs-world when a skin is missing in the replay.
A download of the 1024-skins while you are in the pit or viewing the race would maybe a solution to download while being online.
so, now its 2:00am here in Germany.
I think I go to bed. But I have to say I expected more than only waiting hour for hour for a new update (or patch release) that doesn't come today
So that we (or you all) have at least one present today I give you a link to a download site of an inboard video at the NORDSCHLEIFE (= Nürburgring).
