PC SPEC : 512 RAM,128MB video card Nvidia GeForce4 MX4000,Win XP

THX for idea and suggestion...

P.S. : Why i cant put picture to spoiler??if i use spoiler it wont show my picture after click on spoiler :/

I guess it is AGP card. I might check my latest AGP card and mail it to you if it is better. I dont remember what model it is exactly.
Well I just checked it is written on it 7800 series from nvidia. If I remember correctly it is one of the best agp card I could buy back in the time (as I did not want to update my mobo by then). I dont know if it is still reliable but I guess it would be huge bump in fps. I dont know if it is support shaders.

Nice graphical website update but damn you will have to update all the screenshot and track panorama with the new patch!

How to do advanced search?

Hey there,

I was used to check the forum this way:

How can I do something similar now?

Thanks

"Aliasing" looks way better, but smoke on front of the fence is a bit glitchy on the second scrrenshot... As for normal racing I would prefer like this (your test version).

The graphics are looking way better in your comparisons, trees and fences look way more natural and less pixel art!

As for Leap Motion, I loved the idea, tried it, but it was too new, too laggy, too unprecise, too useless. It might get good with time.

I dont know how they went with leap motion... I preordered it, gqve it a try and sold it right away. The second hand market was already saturated. I was not the only one disappointed.

As a side note, I have no idea how the revised Westhill will drive with the old tyre physics that you guys are using. I’ve been testing with the new tyre physics for a few years now and I refuse to drive the old one, which has just doesn’t have that visceral tyre feel and response compared to the new tyre physics.

Eric

Damn that is a good teaser!

I wish I could clean this thread!
Let Scawen work and stop bullshitting about the difference between dx9 and dx10/11. Go play farcry 3 and tell me the differences. None that you can really feel. Well I had a bug under dx9 with the crosshair, but that was just a bug, drivers or gsme related. You can also try Project Cars it looks awesome in both dx settings but it still miss two points. Cant run well on most configuration and I still prefer LFS physics. If you play LFS on a good 2003 or 2005 pc well you might have a configuration that works better with xp. I dont believe players from non super rich country (the list is quite long) change gear for the BEST every year or two.
What is the point getting Scawen pissed by comment that we know will not influence him? He is clever enough, let him finish polish that new physic engine!

Back to the topic, I had in mind going triple screen now I hesitate just getting a rift! It is cheaper and more immersive, but I still dont know if I must wait for the V1.

Quote from Scawen :Hello everyone!

The developers are all alive and working on LFS.

Eric has been working on new tracks. He slowed up a bit during some of the great English summer which we don't get very often. I have enjoyed test driving on two of his new tracks which look great and I look forward to the time when they can be released.

I am still working on the tyre physics, though I haven't really made serious progress this year. I also enjoyed the summer, did a lot of cycling and running too. It's a better hobby than smoking like I used to, and I really enjoy it. But the good news is it won't pay the bills!

LFS income has gradually gone down as it always does between updates. That that has increased the urgency of finishing the tyre physics. So I plan to get down to it, make the appropriate approximations and sort out a good physically based system, with enough assumptions to make it workable, accepting that total realism is an unachievable goal.

I just got a bit excited about stereoscopic 3d support, which some people will like because they'll be able to see LFS in 3d on a 3d TV, if their TV supports "side-by-side" or "top and bottom" mode. Also headsets should be supported if they accept one of those output modes. The old headsets that require specific support and sequential output will not be supported. For example a Sony HMZ works but a Vuzix VR920 does not. A more recent Vuzix should work but the field of view is not really good enough to give you peripheral vision. I'm not sure how much it will benefit the Oculus Rift at the moment. I think that depends on a pixel shader to provide the proper distortion, which I think is not available in D3D8. Anyway, one of the output options will be non-squashed (full) side-by-side 3D, which may possibly make it easier to use the Oculus Rift. Anyway it is a step in that direction. It does appear that the current Oculus Rift's resolution is too low for a racing simulator at the moment. Anyway I should be able to post a 3d test patch in a few days, I'm guessing early next week. Some people will enjoy that, though I realise most people, like me, don't have 3d equipment.

Victor is still with us, although he has indeed got another job, which looks like a really good one, putting his excellent skills to more use. I'm pleased for him about that, as his job here wasn't often really full time, although he is an absolutely vital member of our team. He needed a job as well because our profit share isn't one third each and depends on our actual contributions to the project. Victor started later and never has so much work, so for that reason only, his profit share was a bit of a tight squeeze to live on, specially with the gradual reduction in profits while we are waiting for a serious update.

People ask why I don't come here more often with progress reports. But there hasn't been enough progress to give a report. And it's not appealing to come here and say that. Every month I've thought I would be making more progress, and would have some good progress to report the following month. Hope you see what I mean...

Anyway, we do have to pay the bills and I'm very interested to get the better feeling tyre model out there for everyone to enjoy. You've heard it all before so I don't expect great enthusiasm. It will take a while yet, but hopefully not too long.

Cool I will take that as a progress report. Well at least if you take better care of yourself you reduce the risk of heart attack before next update!
Keep up you can make it!

Thanks for the info, I thought my firmware was up to date, I was wrong! I updated to 750 (not user friendly but feasible).
I tried with various settings in cfg.txt. Then I got back to a clean version and applyed changes and now it works.

Thanks for the good work it is a very interesting feature.

My cfg looks likes this:
OutSim Mode 0
OutSim Delay 1
OutSim IP 127.0.0.1
OutSim Port 0
OutSim ID 0
OutGauge Mode 2
OutGauge Delay 3
OutGauge IP 127.0.0.1
OutGauge Port 30000
OutGauge ID 0

Fanatec gt3rs firmware 681, yes it is on LFS. I followed the instruction. Anyway I was not super sure on the ip address to input.

Thanks for the good work.
I tried with 1.2b and a porsche wheel. Everything seems to be working in game... but nothing shows up on the wheel.
Can you help me troubleshoot?

Quote from wheel4hummer :If it's high enough to be a disadvantage, then what does it matter one way or another whether it invalidates the lap or not? If you hit it, you will mess up your lap anyway.

According to the WR chart no. HLVC being mainly (or only?) for hotlaps it should be corrected as it obviously against current hotlap "philosophy"...

At the next patch hopefully.

Multiplacating cars is a pain for low end pcs. Multiplicate the number of poly plus the physic calculation. Anyway LFS is pretty well optimised except that it would benefit from multicore.
Anyway on high end pc (4 cores and graphic card not too old) it is hard to go under 100fps in hd... not loading a single core to 100%...

Quote from CheerioDM :Put the weight on the front.

Yep exactly, the momentum will add a huge force on the rear tyres! And may be you can try to up the suspension like on some old funny cars (correct me if I am wrong).

If I remember well and it was an experiment between MCGill FSAE team and Scawen. Wings are not banned (rules are really open, and I think the rear wing was suppose to be attached to the triangles and not to the chassis, as it is also autorized) in FSAE and they make some heavy winged cars. But it is more weight, more budget and more drag with only a 600cc engine (you have to justify the technical dossier of your car). It is usually faster on the skidpad, but FSAE is not only about the skidpad. So I guess they did not see enough pros and never built the car this way, so in the end it was kind of logic not to release it in LFS.
