Quote from Shinrar :
Then, a week before I got paid, I broke my Black MOMO racing wheel. Yanked the USB Cable right out of it... Then the delema came. Do I wait for the G25, or buy a replacement Momo and the G25 later, ending up with two wheels...

Try to repair the cable first ! My wheel has a repaired cable and it works !

After a lot of mrt5 I improved by one second on a 30s lap with a go kart ! It was month that I was stuck to 30.0 and then 29.0 ! Yeah !
The good news is my rubbbish diesel is not in lfs !

Sure it would be fun to change aero in real time ! Fast in straight and fast in corner ! Or change anitroll bar to non symetric aero ! Or bounce with quick going from high aero to no charge !

Salut Pricorde, and congrats !
We had lfs, quite cool with three devs and now just one guy is trying to beat them ! Keep up, may be you say : it is not that much complicated, just basic structural computing, but as nobody did it before, I just applause !
Even if the chassis flex seems to be a bit exagerated (even if some trailer are really that flexible) it is so cool to look at everything bending ! The difference between that and all the game, I mean all the game not just the car sim, is that now it is alive, everything bend as in real life : so cool.
So perfect, I love it ! Keep up Pricorde you have got something !

Quote from Pasci :The physic update is now done.

The physic will be never "done" ! And I am pretty sure that aero will be well impoved (aero stall and high angle (of drift) and ground effect).

Quote from Hallen :For the majority of 'Mericans, there is only one system. But we do call it "Imperial".
However, when you ask about feet, depending on who you talk to, you might get the question of which "feet"? US Survey foot, or International foot. They are different. illepall
Then we could get into the Texas Vara. A unit of measurements that is exactly 1/3 of 100 feet. Talk about a pain to use, lol.

Personally, I wish we would just switch to metric. I work in a field were measurements are critical and using multiple systems causes a bunch of errors and complications.

I use Imperial in LFS. I don't like KPH because there is too many ticks per unit so to speak. A MPH analog gauge is readable, a KPH guage is hard to read.

Thanks for all your explanation. The "texas vera" is really close to ten meters, I didnt know this unit !
Last year I worked in canada and pressure unit for tensile strength and other things about materials property made me crazy (kpsi...) ! I had no more numbers to compare : so hard. The thickness of materials in part of " were crazy too...
Anyway I use knots sometimes but only for plane. And since the fast car I had to switch form analog to numeric kph because analog kph is now nearly unreadable !

Quote from jtw62074 :Not sure what you mean there, Loopingz.. Higher frequency sampling is a way to increase accuracy rather than decrease it. One of my earlier tire models for VRC was running at 30,000 Hz at one point. That was way overkill though but it did run ok in real time. The current VRC tire model runs at about 600Hz IIRC.

Quote from Shotglass :its really just one of the basic properties of discrete time
anything you model in discrete time is necessarily bandlimited
therefore what youre trying to model must also be physically bandlimited
and if im not mistaken the way your algorithm uses past values (which in is a form of interpolation) will be the equivalent of an interpolation filter you use to get results in continuous time

the overall effect of this is that the gains from using a higher frequency will level out at some point

Well I tryed to explain the same idea as shotglass.
It is all about the balance between computer error and model error (due to frequency).
I dont know (or remember) was it is the error for floating point. Let's imagine we are in 32 bit and error is about 1/2^30~1e-9. So each computation bring 1e-9 of error. If the system as a lot of computation to do and or a lot of degree of freedom, you can go easily to 100 calcul step. Now if you run it at 10000 hz your computeur error will be 1e-3, which is may be still acceptable but it is noticeable (and even really worse at 100khz).
The total error is computer error (which grow with hertz) + model error (which drop with hertz). The most accurate simulation is for computer error = model error. Adding frequency will be a loss of time and a loss of accuracy.
May be it is not in your books but it is the first lesson about engineering computing. If I have time at home I can drow you the typical curves (or find it in my silly fortran curses).
End of off topic, it was just a reminder that growing the frequency is good... just until a certain point !

Thanks for the info Scawen,
correct me if I am wrong.
Intel finally choose to do their stuff using rfactor.
LFS still benefit the bf1 even if it is not the sim used by intel.

So is bf1 is icy as it is now or will it benefit from new feature of the real car ? or will it just benefit from the future lfs updates (I suppose that improved aero will help in the future) ?

Quote from MagicFr :Well, i take for example TDU, the collision detection works @ 100hz, and the internal calculation ( engine to contact patch through drivetrain ) is @ 1000hz.
I'm sure on PC i could use 10.000hz without big problem because it is lot of calculation...

Hi magic, remember that raising Hz has limit because with higher Hz you multiply the computation (and model) errors. There is a limit where accurracy is coming down with the hertz growing. Anyway I don't know where is this limit, it is hard to calculate and to test but possible.

Anyway thanks for this interesting, thanks to Todd and others !

May the aero is not enough complex at the moment because it does not simulate part of the cars that stall and create such instability !

Nice work devs, thanks for it.
This patch happened in a nightmare to me... Back from work one hour after the release, my telephone and internet was shut down and I dont know for how long.
Yesterday a friend brought me the patch, so I could test the demo ! Yeeeeeepeeeeeeee. The new tyre are a huge step, it sounded like a S3 to me ! At first it feels way easier (gti), and I thought hell no, it is becoming arcadish. So i tested the behaviour which I doesnt feel real before and no it is just trully good now ! Switched to xr gt which I can compare to the old firebird I use to drive an now I am ok with the physic especially when full gas at start and over limit ! gtt is now driveable and I enjoyed it way much. I suppose lx and all cars will benefit from the new tyres. Can't wait to test and don't talk me about the bf1  :woohoo:
Great job scavier it would have been perfect you had solved my internet connection too !

Nice story !
The good thing is that what with the lfs you know to who you give your money ! For example I also often buy my audio cds at the show because it is more money for the band !

Quote from deggis :in CMX Viewer tyres are the same old ones for road cars. By default I guess.

All the models except FOX and FO8 are the same old too. If devs aren't keeping anything as a secret (GTR cockpits?!) until the release I don't understand what the hell Eric have been doing. Over six months and only 2 new track configs, one new car, some minor gfx improvements and 2 new cockpits?

May be tyres look the same but tyre physic has been updated for all cars...

Just to add that the bangbang system only work when the engine is hot, there is a switch most of the time to wait the engine temperature and then set it on...
