I know this isn't the correct forum for troubleshooting but maybe some of you have encountered the same problem.
I have just bought a playstation 3 slim 320GB + GT 5 and I am having problems connecting it to my HDTV via a HDMI cable.
I have plugged in all relevant hardware and cables, downloaded system updates, turned my playstation 3 on, I have received a message that PS3 has detected an HDMI connection, I confirmed with yes to use HDMI to connect my ps3 to my HDTV.
Now the problem.
The problem is, when i go to the display settings to set my ps3 to 1080p, the resolution is default on 576p which is ticked and greyed out, i then tick all the relevant resolutions up to 1080p as my tv supports them all but after confirming, my tv just resets as I get the no signal message and I end up back at the menu screen with the screen resolutions and 576p is still greyed out. I cannot seem to select a higher resolution that 576p.
After endless resets, unplugging and net searching, i thought, I will just try and have one race of GT 5 with the 576p res but then another problem appeared, on GT5 game load screen, I get small dots flickering all over the screen, this problem gets worse once the race actually starts, with signal being lost at time and bad flickering. I guess this is because of the high data transfer once gameplay starts with sound and vieo passing through the cable.
I have bought the 32' HDTV with the PS3 and it is a full HD television which supports 1080p.
I am honestly lost as to what the problem could be, I would be greatful for any advice.
I haven't tried the safemode reset or a different hdmi cable.
I am not sure a faulty HDMI cable would stop my ps3 setting higher resolutions? but I will go and get the cable replaced today as I did buy the cheapest cable.
Hmm well it's true then, that kinda sucks considering how long they have spent on developing this game, i looked forward to picking up a used banger and burning some rubber on the track with cockpit view. I was used to bumber view back in the day I was actively playing GT, it is LFS that has forced me to go inside as it's just much more immersive and enjoyable.
I guess this down side of GT 5 is outweighet by the other plus points although I still think that a bumber view in a car game (any car game) should be banned as the whole point of the car game is to immerse yourself into a race and that means having the enviroment around you that you would have in real life, I dont get why atleast they couldnt have modelled some lower poly cockpits.
The damage from all the vids that I have seen is also in tiers, meaning the older the car the simpler the damage, with the premiums having the most detailed damage of all. Again, kinda silly, either have full damage on all cars or none at all like the other GTs.
Getting slighly convinced to buying it, now just have to convince my other half that PS3 and GT5 is really something our home needs.. any ideas how lol?
I now read tons of reviews that are available, can someone confirm the situation with the in car cockpits? some say that not all cars have modelled cockpits which would really suck, exactly how many cars would be nice to know, I guess there will always be plenty of cars to choose from that actually have cockpit so I can just avoid playing with the ones that do not, but still I feel to play a race sim with no cockpit view is less immersive.
Also as I am a PS3 newb, how much hard disk space is required for it to install or how much hard disk space would you guys recommend I should get with my PS3?
I've no idea, back in my PSX days i didnt have to think about that, only how many blocks my save would take up on my 32mb memory card
So would you guys say it is good with the wheel? I mean enjoyable like LFS is with a wheel? Would you guys recommend getting a PS3 just for GT5?
I love car games, have done ever since my F196 PSX days and having owned most os the serious racing titles out there I really must keep the tradition going but as it is a lot of money to throw at a console and a game I need to know whether it is actually worth while or whether I am better of playing something else.
after a long time off the forum I've come back to to find out about GT5, I was a big fan of the GT series and having completed GT, GT2 and GT3 missing out on GT 4 I am thinking of getting myself a treat this xmas, a PS3 with GT5.
Having been digging around on the internet through reviews i have not been able to find a review good enough which shows off GT5 with a G25 Logitech, it has mainly been about th cars, graphics and gameplay assessed with the joypad with very little mention of what the game plays like with a wheel.
So I have come here to find out from the actual people playing it assuming most of you have a wheel. Please could you write a small review or point me to a review where they have played GT5 with a wheel. I will only play GT5 with a wheel, i refuse to go to the d pad! I have tried to read as many posts as possible to find out but either I have missed the key posts or people haven't really said much about their experience playign GT with a wheel.
I would appreciate some info before I would invest into the hardware and software.
I have the same problem, I have no idea what to get my girlfriend, I am moving back to the Czech Republic on friday after 14 years in ther UK, I want to be close to her but no idea what to get her for xmas.... it is starting to worry me as I do not have much time left.. maybe i should wrap myself..
The problem I was having at the time i posted these pictures unknown to me was that the power supply was slowly going (it was 3 months old) It started to overload my graphics card with too much power which caused it to over clock and seriously overheat. My graphics card was reaching 145C at time after 2 minutes of playing and it wouldnt even display the desktop properly as you saw. I then replaced the psu and all was fine, card temps were back to normal and games played ok but the damage to the card was done as it packed in few days later completely.
It may be your graphics card slowly dieing but with pcs it can also be a number of other hardware components that could be causing the problem. Best to test if you can the components in another computer
Can anyone tell me whether you can make creatures that fly? I haven't seen any creatures that could take to flight which I feel would be a very big evolutionary game development mistake.
I thought Greece were extremely fortunate to have won the 2004 championships although they played a lot better in 2004 than in 2008. But personally i think Greece is similar to our Czech team, they lack that attacking flair something that the Czech squad without Nedved and Rosicky lacks too.
You need creative players playing at their best but yesterday Greece played poorly and I felt Russia deserved the win and more goals from that game.
Tonights game Cz v Turkey should be interesting, if we loose then it will show how badly the Czech squad needs freshening up, we are going through a transitional period of our ageing squad but we need talent..
probably fixtures for the quaters:
Portugal v Germany
Croatia v Czech Republic or Turkey
Holland v Sweden or Russia
Spain v France or Italy or Romania
I think it will be
Portugal v Germany
Croatia v Czech Republic
Holland v Russia
Spain v France (Unless Holland allow Romania to win )
So another day and another group of matches, today we face Portugal, four years ago i would have been quite optimistic facing Portugal but today I have my doubts, quite a few players have retired and our best are not available especially after the way we played in the first game. Baros this year is nothing, he has been playing really badly.
I hope we can get a descent result against them through.
I am looking forward to Clear Sky, I enjoyed the first Stalker even though it had a few bugs, very nice atmosphere and wide range of environments and enemies. Those zombies with machine guns were annoying! I also though that some of the level design was absolutely amazing with some descent textures.
I hope that Clear Sky will have less bugs than the troubled first release and that it is just as atmospheric and playable.
I think ajp meant a game that will do it well. GP4's wet weather looked great and it was good to see track conditions change but it was absolutely awful to drive in the wet. That game would have been good had the physics been at least a bit realistic.
Hey thanks for your query, I have checked out everything about you and I predict that your ideal job Madman_CZ is a Rally Car Driver. Good luck in your new career.
Well it wasnt the card at fault, the faulty psu that blew up on me seemed to be overclocking it with too much voltage. As soon as i replaced the psu the card ran fine for another 4 weeks until today. I was playing lfs yesterday with it only yesterday.
Yeah the fact that it ran at 145c after 2 mins of farcry and 110c idle for so long was a miracle with my old psu. I dont usually check the temps so i didn't know the card was actually over heating until i was playing a game when i use to get some artifacts after few minutes. I thought it was the card four weeks ago when i first spotted the heating problems, little did i know that my old psu was causing all the problems. After the replacement of the psu i thought it was all ok as card idle temps were 60C but i guess today it just gave up from the damaged caused weeks ago...
Will have to get some cheap card tomorrow.... i hope it isnt the mobo!!! Dont have much money for pc components right now.
I am afraid i have no second graphics card or pc where i can try it i am on my laptop at the moment.
The loading bar screen has artifacts and lines mainly around the bar, the bar itself is fine but it does freeze and takes ages to actually loads things up..
I am really thinking that the faulty psu that blew up few weeks ago damaged my nvidia6800gt which i think gave up today like you say. It does appear to be graphics related especially when i wasn't at the computer when things started going wrong. I do have quite a demanding screensaver which may have caused the card to pack up due to the psu damage.
