A Sony A100 to be exact, shot at 300mm, 1/320 second shutter speed, f/5.6 aperture, and ISO1600 in aperture priority mode with +1.0 exposure bias, at least for the pedal shot. No, not everyone gets it, but many of us do
I do like the 3rd shot you posted of the pedal. Can't say I like the grain. Digital noise just isn't the same as film grain and doesn't give the same feel, no offense. The "grain" does look good specifically on the subject, but doesn't come out well in my eyes with the blackened out background. Over all, quite a nice shot.
Migz, after you RTFM, check out these links that I found extremely helpful when I first got into the photography thing a little bit more than just shooting a little autoshooter.....
Digital Camera Help - They either changed this, or it's the wrong site. This isn't what I was looking for...
Beyond that, if you want some reading material for the next year, check out the list of links I created. I haven't even finished organizing them yet... Here
On the photos of the VW, was it sitting in heavy shadow from the buildings? I wonder because of the settings of many of them. I am seeing ISO 400, f/3.5 aperture, and shutter speeds of 1/6 to 1/15. I find that very odd and the only thing I can figure is that the car was sitting in very dark shadow from the surroundings. My camera is not all that capable, but I think I would have been using ISO100, f/3.5, and a much faster shutter speed of 1/200 or so judging by the way these look.
So, finish the RTFM, check out the link above as well, and get that thing out of auto exposure! Having an expensive dSLR and using it as a point and shoot is a crime!
Any questions along the way, do not hesitate at all to post up. Plenty of folks with a lot of knowledge on here. I myself have pretty good grasp of the knowledge, just lack the equipment to put the knowledge to good use.
I don't shoot RAW, I can't, don't have the capability. But I do read quite a bit on the photography forums.....
I think I've read where Photoshop doesn't support some of the older RAW formats. I don't see where you report what Sony camera you are using, nor which version of PS either.
There should be a download section to download plugins/updates/drivers/whatevertheycallthem for specific RAW file types. I'm not sure if this would only work for "legit" copies of Photoshop or not (not that I'm suggesting or accusing anything here, but probably 90% of Photoshop users are not legit....) I think I remember reading that the RAW file type updates only work on registered versions of Photoshop.
Spankmeyer, you always appologize for your watermark. They don't look too big at all. Quite unobtrusive actually.
My kids would love that balloon. We just picked up Bolt on DVD and they can't stop watching it. I enjoyed it as well, just not enough to watch it 300 times a day for the past week,
NFS1 was the first racing game I played on my computer (ignoring Pole Position and Stunts on the C64, which wasn't my computer) and I used an analog joystick and later on, my Thrustmaster T2 wheel.
Grip Driver posted previously in the "post your car" thread a link to Craigslist in Denver. Also, posted in the "what's your internet speed" thread which gave a server listed in Denver.
Hmmmm.....
I've got me a couple of buddies and some time off work coming up. Think maybe I'll take a little ride out to Denver. :mischievo
If you go that route, take note of the sky in both images as well. You can see in the photograph that the camera was metering the inside of the vehicle, thus the interior is correctly exposed and the sky is blown out way too bright. In the image from the CMX viewer, the sky is a beautiful blue with a proper exposure, had this been a photograph by a camera, and the interior of the car is dark or underexposed. It is depicted exactly how it should be to be "photorealistic."
Of course, the eye doesn't exactly work that way as we have a far greater dynamic range than a camera does, but comparing the two images, it is exactly how I would expect it to be.
LFS screenshot Image adjusted (rough levels adjustment in Photoshop) to match exposure of the outside environment to the photographed image....
Should have killed that mother f'er, DWB. One was in my shoe last night as I was putting them on to let the dog out and got me right in the ankle. Hurt all night.
Thanks guys. The Bad Jokes thread didn't give me enough incentive to figure out who Lady Gaga was. Now after googling a little to figure it out, I understand the "Poke her face" joke.
How on earth anyone makes any money with music like that is beyond me.
This is pretty cool. I've never tried it until it was bumped recently. I'm wondering, is this how rFactor feels as well? I never tried rFactor on account of I wouldn't be able to do anything but single player because of poor computer specs and wasn't going to pay for racing AI.
The force feedback is terrible. It just feels like centering spring is turned on in my logitech drivers, which it is not. If this is suppose to "show off" what a BMW M3 is like, they failed tremendously. All it does for me is understeer straight into the walls and there is no way I would buy a car that expensive just to understeer everywhere.
It is a bit fun though. I've never had any PC sim or game that had Nordscleife on it, thus I know exactly nothing about the track. Oh, I guess I have done maybe 2 laps with NR2003, but that's it. The clock reset after 10 minutes of me trying the first lap. Then I ventured into the link provided previously and started downloading other tracks and playing around. I have to give Nords. another go.
I put a handful of AI on the track with me, about 5 is all my PC could handle if that. Wow, we thought LFS' AI drivers were bad. These guys were terrible.
Downloaded Mid Ohio. I've been dying to drive that track ever since I use to race with Indycar Racing 2. I LOVE that track, and it didn't work! Grrrrrr!!!!
One thing that is terrible is the FOV. A shame that I like to sit in the cockpit, but hate driving from the back seat with the dashboard miles ahead of me. Is rFactor FOV the same? I couldn't move it up nearly enough (I use FOV 50 in LFS to get an idea of what is wrong here.)
He was looking the opposite direction on a one way road for the shot. All our roads are one direction to eliminate all problems associated with right turns.
You do have some seriously cool light down there, DWB. I like that overgrown abandoned roadway, or what ever you would want to call that.
To all you UK/EU folks, look at DWB's last photo, the one with the road. Follow that road through the photo with your eyes. Follow it..... follow it..... THERE! See that way in the distance? See what that is? It's a TURN! And it turns RIGHT! HA HA!!!!! See, we do have turns on our roads, and not just left ones!
Serious problems ensued in the Rodgers' household the other day. My youngest daughter's little pets were peacefully playing about their little house and playground.....
Suddenly, a horrendous floor shaking pounding could be felt as my older daughter Lauren's "pets" appeared.....
Emma's pets were trapped with nowhere to run. They were surrounded.....
The survivors were defenseless and could only watch and listen to the shrill little screams of fear as their friends were carried off to who knows where.....
Screw a flying dream car and screw a big dollar dream car. If I want to fly, I want to actually fly. My money would go for an ICON A5. It would be like having my RC airplane as a real airplane.
GrIp DrIvEr, reneging on what you say, bad, very bad. Still waiting for your PM.
