It is a Formula Renault based car. I can't be called Formula Renault because then the developers would have to buy the Renault Auto Company licensing and trade marks for it.
It could still work. If it goes off of amount of time on the track, amount of laps done, amount of races finished, about of races you placed in. So I got to a server in a car I'm not fimilar with, on a track I don't normally do. Never finished a race, or even placed. I wouldn't have 1 fan there. Since the virtual fan wouldn't know who I am. Now I am on the same track but with other people that have more time on the track, more laps done for that car, more races finished, and or placed. They will show there fans, and basically over ride my non-existent ones.
This would also in a way be a competitive thing in your virtual "tickets" since someone with a huge fan base that up to 45% of the fans, could be for one driver/team, and the rest is split among the remaining drivers.
Name one track 1,000 LFS drivers can race on at a time? lol At most 32 on the track with the new test patch. Every server wouldn't have every fan for every LFS driver. It would only display the fans colors if the driver is at the server and if the driver meets the requirements for a fan base. The number of fans be it's own formula to calculate, etc.
Are we talking about the on screen TV coverage for the braking graphic? I have always figured, the brake on that is on or off for one good reason. Why let every other team in the paddock see where your driver brakes at, worse yet see how much force they apply in the turn. Wouldn't take much to figure out how the driver is braking, where at, how much, on what tires and try to have your driver do it themselves. Or even see how good another teams braking system is compared to yours.
It reminds me of the press conference in 2000 I think it was where Michael told the reporter he was going to brake at 4 meters, then Mika comes in and smiles says how thats good he is planning to brake at 3 meters.
Yes but just fans, how would you know who's fans are for what? So I can sign on Blackwood, and see the stands packed and tell everyone it's because of me?
A color filter wouldn't be a download. It would work the same as changing your cars color with the sliders. If I make my car Orange, it doesn't download anything, since there is no texture change. It's just changing the filter for the base white car.
Having colors you could see who is for what driver. Look at F1 see a sea of Red in the stands, safe bet it's for Ferrari. See Silver, it's for Mclaren.
With out difference in fans, I don't see the point. Because no one would know who they are for. If for some odd reason I change my fan's merchandise colors to bright pink and green. If I go past the grand stand and see pink and green I know it's because of me.
This is kind of a interesting idea. You could have a option for "Fans Colors" it would give 3 sliders, so the user could try and match those with there team/car color. So maybe your fan has two colors for a shirt and one for a hat. This would basically be a filter. Where a uncolored fans clothing would be white. Then the user adjust it.
It should be time on the track percentage. Even Minardi had/has fans and they never won a race. So time on track "exposure" should play in to it.
Wish I could help more. I have lots of Mac's been a user since early 90's. On the desk are MacPro and G5, plus have a G4 here, and MacBook (Intel) and iBook G3, Probably my old G3 tower is around too.
I've had no problem getting it to run on my MacPro. The icon did look like a piece of paper but clicked it and started. Put my F1 texture loaded right up after a program restart. See what you mean about the view rotation. Hehehe.
What Resolution does your view import the textures at? I have noticed my textures at 2048x2048 in the viewer seem to be scaled or something the logos come out being lower resolution in the viewer and blurry.
I'm really happy you're doing this. Great work!!
Things I'd like to see.
1. Re-sizable windows.
2. Two zoom features, one for mouse wheel maybe. Also to rotate around the car and another to have a move and zoom freely around the car, not locked on the center.
I'm really looking forward to the Mac version of this. Only time I restart my MacPro in to WinXP is to play LFS. But do all my skins in Mac OSX. Does it open all the current models, Cars and Helmet? Also was wondering maybe a option for the user to change the background color to something other then black.
I would if it was like CMX in some way, CrossOver cost $30 dollars I'm using the trial but I am only using it for CMX View (Trial is free but only last 30 days, and won't let me resize the window)
Yep, that was me. I was on a good flier lap when I lost connection to the server, when I got back it wasn't up.
Yeah I noticed you can set race length for a hour or two. Was wondering about making it more flexible being more specific maybe 1 hour 25 minutes. Or 35 minute race etc.
Yeah like maybe I set race to 25 laps, but I want 3 pit stops everyone has to take. but your first pit stop cannot be until lap 6 or so. If you pit before then you get a Disqualification.
I got to thinking and it would be nice if you could set race length in time. So let's say I wanted to run a 55 minute Black would race, not by the number of laps. That wasn't a qualifying.
Also got me thinking how some have said about short races being boring if there was a way for the admin to mandate pit stops, like now but also the number of pits required so you are not disqualified. (Just a example) like I want 15 lap race, yet I want 2 pits stops required just to spice things up.
I don't want this either. 45 minutes to short? Sounds like your topping off the fuel tank so you don't have the pit. Make pit stops mandatory, like on RedLines F08 Blackwood. The race is only 9 laps, but you have to pit or be disqualified. Then we put in just enough fuel to do X amount of laps no more, so we can be very light and fast, at the pit just enough fuel to finish the race.
I think I found a bug in W24, I was on one of the south city courses. When a follow racer sent me a setup up since I didn't have one for the reverse of the track. After he sent it, I named and saved it. Then my inputs for Gas/Brake no longer worked. All the other buttons on my XBox 360 controller worked fine. Just the two triggers for gas and brake no longer did. When I went to control setup in LFS and move the sticks and hit the buttons and pulled the triggers a few times then they started working again. But everything stopped right after I saved a setup I was sent.
I use a Mac, solely run LFS under Bootcamp after I restart WinXP native using my Mac. But since all my graphics and all my other programs are on the Mac Drive (Have a 400 gig drive just for WinXP, and 500 gig, 2 400 gig for Mac) so to use CMX I had to get the Trial of CrossOver to run WinXP App's under OSX. It works except it being a trial and only lasting 30 days. And with the version of CrossOver I was using it wouldn't let me resize the CMX viewer window, if I tried the window goes totally black and I have to restart the CMX viewer.
Yeah I'd like just the CMX viewer to be ported to Mac. Would help. I've used it using CrossOver for Mac, to run PC programs CMX Viewer being the main one. Having a CMX Viewer native app would be great.
I have a MacPro running Mac OSX 10.4.9 and use it to play LFS, using Bootcamp. But there was nothing on the Mac to open the 3D files for LFS and use the viewer. I used the software CrossOver for Mac, to get the viewer to work. Took a little time to get it set up, but after that it worked Ok. Just needed your original Intel Mac OS install disc when installing CrossOver. To get the windows working right. Still have some issues like it wouldn't let me resize the CMX Viewer window, if I tried it would make the window go totally black and I've have to restart CMX viewer.
The Flight sim X-Plane has a option for real time weather. It's pretty fun, you can have real time weather, but you can also change the time to what you want instead. Or just use Real time also.
