Well, what a mixed night for me
.
Quali went great, got a PB which also grabbed me a suspect pole position.
Race 1 was a bit different. Starting on pole is pretty daunting with the whole fiesld after you. Unfortunately, I didn't rise to the challenge. T1 was pretty unlucky for me, just when I was about to turn in, I totally lost all ffb + steering input. I had no choice but to cut across the gravel bashing ctrl+c repeatedly ^^. I tihnk this landed me down in 9th or 10th. I got very angry. Clawed it up to 7th, slowly catching Custers (1 more lap maybe
).
Race 2 was pretty much perfect. Starting at the end seems to suit me a bit more. I took a bit of a gamble at T1, braking much later than everyone, making my way past around 5 or 6 drivers. Midway through lap 1, I was in 3rd position and by the end of the lap I had passed Passingham, making me in 2nd position. A few laps later, I started to reduce Kid's lead. Once passed, we opened up a huge gap back to 3rd position. Laps went by, my lead got smaller and smaller. Slowly, Dave and Hugo moved up the field to sit 3rd & 4th respectivly. I was praying that Dave would make a slip up, and apparently, he did!
With 4 laps remaining, he was right up my pipe. I tried to hold my nerve, keep the RAC steady and plough on to victory. With 1 lap left, Dave was .8 behind me and getting high from my fumes. And by the final sector, h was .2 . I hoped for a good exit onto the oval, or else I woulda been left for soup. Thankfully, I had enough of a gap so that Dave couldnt get into my stream. And I claimed my first big event win!
Thanks for great races! See you at next round
