Great stuff.

I could really do with winning a race this season.

Indeed it is.

We have four staff members; each with differing amounts of time to host (watch and monitor) a race on a Sunday evening. That and the potential lag issue Tim mentioned generally keeps out current schedule recurring.

I agree the chatterbox can become a very heated battleground; I'm guilty of this myself on occassion. For many reasons LFS can bring out the good and bad aggression in people; after a tough race the chatterbox tends to be the place people tend to vent out their rage. I don't mind this as long as things don't become obscene. Luckily this has rarely happened. As for the skill event; I'm sure we could manage one sometime. Last year we just didn't manage to get the time to plan one.

well done for starting a thread Tim.
Well personally (not looking from a staff perspective) I found the season a bit too long with the summer break not helping.
I liked the online Quali system but felt it lacked a little bit of excitement; I think I originally pictured a few people in the server at the same time but generally it was empty when I was qualing - however that isn't a fault of the system.
Another thing I found; and maybe this is a perception thing; but unlike previous seasons, every race felt like it had about 10 new racers in the lower pools. This lack of cosistancy made the racing actually feel less important as I wasn't really racing with anyone as far as the overall league points system went. The pool one racers generally have an advantage in this aspect because they are genuinely fighting for the top 20 places in the table - everything under that seems a bit pointless to me now (forgive the pun).
For me I would like a shorter more exciting league with more emhpasis on getting good results rather than just getting to the end. Perhaps only people who start the season from the first race actually scoring points. We could still let people come in mid season but they could always score Zero.
Just my thoughts which do not represent the OLFSL staff. edit - for some reason my line breaks aren't working - sorry

Luckily I've done a bit of Oval so it's not new to me - fingers crossed I can make it to the end.

As an experiement can you do a quick Z16 build - make it identical to Z15 apart from the number and I reckon these freaks will still find things they think are different from Z15. Also it might get things back on topic again.

Didn't say there had to be a button for each combo - but why not the same buttons on the right hand side as in the Single Player menu?

Quote from XCNuse :it would be worse; LFS is mainly dependant on the CPU, and since platforms have really bad CPUs, but good graphics card... you'd get like 10 fps

plus, why would the graphics change...?

lol - The PS3 has one of the world's most complex home CPU's buzzing inside it - if anything it's the 256MB of Ram that holds the beast back.
Probably suggested before [sort by track]

Probably suggested before but then, most things probably have.

How about a way to filter servers by track too?

Mouse users don't have it easier at all - remember with a mouse the braking and accelerating is digital, not analogue as with pedals. Wheelspin and Wheel/Brake locking and subsequent high tyre wear is something mouse users such as myself suffer from much more than wheel users.

I suppose if we kicked people who kept taking short cuts from the league we'd just be left with the genuine racers.

I suppose us not doing official hotlapping means we have to act HLVC ourselves.

You could always just switch it off in the Brakes section in the garage. If needed we will check replays and spot any ABS'ers.

Bad race for me, all down to the tires - I raced using a Quali set.

It was a nightmare for me in Pool 5, sorry to everyone who had to see me spin around etc. I didn't crash into anyone though and always waited for the traffic to clear before rejoining.

My excuse is that up I didn't do any practice laps and decided to change my tire choice right before the race without testing. The result was a some unusual grip and balance. It was weird having a car that was handling fine for a couple of laps and then on the following lap feeling totally different (perhaps that was the wind thinking about it).

I tried to obey blue flags as best as I could, unlike many other tracks the lap is so short but the track was fast, making it very tricky to just pull over in a conventional way.

Looking forward to Westhill for the next event, not sure about the XRT though - I'd have preferred a single seater myself.

I have to agree with you Fordman - I had exactly the same experience the other night.

Wanted to race on a busy server, there was only one with a decent amount of people on. As soon as I tried to join the race the server app kicked me because I hadn't set a pb on that track before.

I can understand setting pb standards on private servers but if you decide to make yours public, why bother putting these Nazi programs on which stop anyone but the regulars joining anyway? Might as well give them all a password and make it private, then you wouldn't need such an obtrusive app kicking people anyway.

I think the biggest aspect of the new team area was so that teams could do a lot of the work themselves, previously it was all done behind the scenes. I'm not quite sure of the reason for teams needing to choose racers every race (I think I missed the staff meeting about that) - but the fact that team points are much more accurate and you can't take points with you to a new team make perfect sense now.

Hmmm.

I can't see anything wrong in reporting something which is quite serious and really breaking the rules even if it is in a different pool than your own but I don't suggest you watch every replay for every little thing. Generally our system of grieved parties reporting problems works ok.

Our appeals guy Solar Hydro can only deal with so many things a week.

We don't really have the people power to watch every replay and deal with every possible incident that isn't reported. If people have a grievance then they have a right to get the issue looked at, I don't think we need to go beyond this.

It's up to me if I choose to report something that affects my race or not, I don't expect anyone else to be looking on my behalf.

ehehe - all these little problems.

You can try right clicking the exe or setup file and choose SP1 in compatability mode.

Other than that you might just want to try getting a second PC just for the streaming or for your other work while your main pc is doing the streaming.
