Quote from samforey12345 :BS administration.. 999 for a first offence. LMAO

Who says it was the first? In any case, if there is a deliberate wrecking/premeditated taking out of another car on our servers you will get 999 days. End of story.

If you do not like it or you think you may find yourself in a situation where you think the best course of action is to take out somebody else then perhaps you should reconsider joining in the first place.

Re: Skins / Groupings

Now there are at least 7 Fragmaster entries and it is my job to deal with the skins can I confirm that the following is correct as I understand it.

Assuming the number of entries does not go above 10.

We need to split up into 2 groups, do they need different names?

Because we use team skins rather than individual driver preferences:

Group 1 will have identical skins apart from name/number/end plates
Group 2 will have identical skins (but different from group 1) apart from name/number/end plates

As a side note and purely out of curiosity, what brought about the decision to use groups in this way. I don't know how many members from different teams have already signed up, CoRe usually enter a few drivers, but it would be a shame if there was a team with 6... one member of a team in that situation is going to be an odd one out.

Quote from dekojester :@SmegFirk: all the logos are fine, that'll work. You just need to be sure to put the national flag of the driver by their first name or first initial

Yes, thanks, I knew about the flag I just didn't want to do any more work before knowing if the scheme clashed.

Follow-up question: Say for example there were 5 FM cars. Under normal circumstances all that would be different is the name/numbers. I believe I read that the rear wing end plates needed to be different on each car to help you distinguish between drivers?

UNOFFICIAL AND INCOMPLETE

Before I go any further with various skin designs for FM, can I please have an official NDR opinion as to whether the '500 logo' on the top is okay. Personally I think it fits in quite nicely and is still nicely visible, but my opinion is not going to matter, yours is.

I can't defend every post in this thread by any means but you are only seeing what you want to see in terms of the replies.

You have been ridiculed to some degree because instead of suggesting "I think Westhill could do with at least one very slow corner to break up the fast sweeping nature of the entire circuit", you may have had more luck.

What you did however was to suggest "I cannot drive a particular corner when amongst racing traffic like I can when I am on my own, so my solution is to change the track to make it easier for me".

The more general discussion of Westhill is a good discussion to have, however.

So... suggested alterations to a circuit = good / no problem to anybody I don't think
suggest alterations because it's currently too difficult for you = leaving yourself open to mickey-taking.

All mho, of course.

All your suggestion would do is create another situation on various other tracks where people go piling into the back of others rather than braking safely. You would then come on suggesting some other change because you keep getting smacked.

Nobody can drive side-by-side through a corner if both drivers attempt to take it as if they were hotlapping, you have to adapt to the conditions/situation you find yourself in.

In general public races it is potentially a problem. Simply because all yellow flag means to most people in day-to-day races is "look out, potential trouble ahead". Rather than the more controlled and organised situations in an organised race/event.

Oh, and I googled your name because to me your post really did seem like pseudo-advertising. Badly designed website, and it seems like NFS or whatever is much more your thing.

I like the way that you say you have set up all of this hardware, and then come along asking if you can do what you want. We might have been able to save you some time and money if you had asked first.

I've never felt the need to test this but I'm pretty sure you would not be able to connect to a server from more than one computer at the same time with the same account. To do what you want which is basically lots of monitors you would be better off with one machine with perhaps 5 screens running from 2 graphics cards.

It could have been a completely innocent question, and if so I apologise. However it seems like you were much more interested in mentioning multiple projectors and watercooled solutions and cockpits than anything else. It's not the hardware that counts, it's what you do with it on the track.

Learn something new everyday. I didn't realise they were static. I've never put passengers in the car because I have never wanted to make any car any heavier than it has to be.

You can type anything you want while driving with a wheel, it might just be a case of other people being better at doing both things at once. Unless you use a mouse of course in which case it is impossible, as soon as you press 'T' the cursor and therefore steering wheel jumps to the centre and you are pretty much stuffed heh.

I understand now I think, we are almost talking about the same thing but coming at it from different sides. You would like to retain every single setup for a certain car but you somehow have the setups for the current track you are connected to highlighted in some way whereas I was taking away all the other setups that didn't match the track.

I don't quite get what you mean, although I'm not quite awake yet so that's my problem.

I've always thought regarding setups that they should be track specific. The game currently recognises that the setup is for a certain car by using the CAR_ prefix. It would be great if it would be possible to extend that to tracks as well. Then for example if I am in the Fox and I am on a server running SO6 I would only see setups I have for that track and car and not every setup for the Fox I have.

I'm sure a lot of people end up putting the track code into the setup name anyway... ky3-qual or something similar. I just think it would make the long list of setups we currently have smaller and more tidy on a track by track basis.

Quote from Skagen :I only have a mouse to control the car. So when I race the Forumula V8 I often use a higher gear than i normally would while cornering. Otherwise I can't keep down the accelerator in the corner without spinning out. As soon Im out of the corner I back shift down to increase the revs and the torque for acceleration. Not as elegant as a proper foot-operated accelerator, but it's the next best thing if you use a mouse and want to accelerate while cornering without too much torque.

As an alternative, although in all honesty what works best for the individual is the way to go, you can reduce the button control rate as low as possible which makes the mouse button slightly less responsive and then you can tap tap tap through the corner in a lower gear keeping a fairly consistent rev. This is as close as a mouse driver can get to the pedal equivalent of 60% power for example.

However like I said, if your method works for you and you are fairly competitive, stick with it.

Definitely sounds like some sort of corruption. I assume you used to have all the information on the screen and now it is being displayed incorrectly or not at all? Have you installed anything else, any hi-res packs and suchlike? Or was it simply working to begin with and suddenly not any more without any changes that you might have made.

I was actually hoping Scawen would have done this himself on the homepage. With a link which just said April Fool when you went to it.

It might have sent some of the complainers re: S3 etc etc completely over the edge and into such a rage/meltdown that they lost the ability to post for a few weeks.

Quote from Degats :What kind of performance are you getting in LFS? It's possible it is actually using the nVidia one in LFS, just reporting it as the onboard.

Quote from Vultureke :@Degats: The performance is not good as it should be with the other one

Do you know what the trigger is? In all your other games do you manually set somewhere within Windows or once you have loaded your game which graphics option it should use? Or does it seem to be happening automatically in your other games?

If it is automatic perhaps LFS uses a version of DirectX old enough that the NVIDIA software doesn't regard LFS as a graphically intensive application. Whereas if you try running a game which is designed for DirectX 10 for example, the NVIDIA software "knows" to switch to the dedicated graphics chip.

unless we are misunderstanding each other with our English, when you say "Formula One" do you mean the BF1? the car in the very bottom right corner of the selection screen? Because you should be able to shift up and down with your foot on the gas in that.

I am rubbish with wheels and pedals but if you can't perhaps it is something to do with debounce settings and the game isn't registering what you have done.

I may be talking complete nonsense, if I am sure somebody will correct and put you in the right direction

It is in several cars and is not a fault. The FO8 is another one that will not shift down without engaging the clutch or lifting... I don't think the XRR does either.

I'm interested in having a look at these, I'm not so interested in downloading a self extracting .exe

No offence. Any chance you can upload the dds files in a zip/rar.

I already have modified files and I'd rather know which files are changed so I can put back my current modifications if necessary. I assume if I use your restore it will pull back the default files which I currently don't use anyway.
