I just figured I'd post this here. It is my final product (well, I'd be willing to go back and maybe fix a couple of things like audio levels).

AVI file issues?

I'm hoping this is the correct place to post this (I'm guessing it is). I just got a Hero Go Pro which works great; however, When I get the AVI files from it, they dont seem to work in anything other than quick time player on the computer I use. They work with no issues on our other computers, but even if I transfer the files, they dont work on mine. Other AVI files work just fine. I've also tried getting and opening the files with Adobe Premiere elements. To the best of my knowledge(obviously limited), I have an issue with a codec. I have no idea what this is, and all my attempts to find out which one, or even what they are on google have failed (I remember something about them from MGS ). If someone could clear this up/tell me what I'm doing wrong/what I need to get, that would be great. Thanks

It is a very good movie, but I wouldnt call it the best. Well done, though.

Thanks My personal thought is that they should not bail them out, instead put that money to use on different job creating projects (like PWA and CCC of the great depression). Unfortunately, I think thats a bit unrealistic. I think Canada's offer should show how interdependent everything is. Talk about not diversifying.

From what I understand, if the Gov. had decided to give every person over 18 in the US an equal share of the original bailout, they would have gotten over 200,000$ EACH!! How could that do anything other then help? People are dumb enough here that they might actually start buying US cars again. It kinda pisses me off how interdependent everything is. One GM plant just shut down near me (Moraine, Ohio), and driving through there the other day, at rush hour, there was almost no traffic. It was like a ghost town. Kind of sad if you ask me.

Also, not to change the subject, but whats the news on bailing out Jag? I would assume that got shot down quickly by some people with some sense.

Quote from speed1 :Hey, I've got a project due for a videography class at the end of break, and I would like some feedback about what I have so far.

Quote from Klutch :Thats because i have better things to do than videotape my crap riding?

Trust, me, I have better things to do as well. Plus, I though you said you could bunny hop higher? Now you say you ride like crap? You cant criticize my riding if you yourself is crap. (also, I started riding riding the beginning of the summer, and riding more then twice a week at the beginning of Aug or so).

Quote from Klutch :You want criticism?
If a movie is to "catch" me, it has to be enjoyable, and has to draw me in.

There we go. Thats more along the lines of what I'm looking for, but be specific. What didnt you like about the angles? Keep in mind most of that footage was shot with my project in the back of my mind.

Quote from Klutch :But you could have gone faster, and gone higher...

You've never been trail riding have you? We rode around 15 miles that (the trails with no snow) day, which isnt much, but it was the first time we'd been riding for a month or so.

Quote from speed1 :I am looking for some pointers/critiques on the editing and shots, not on the riding (which, yes, I do know sucks).

Plus, I dont see any of your vids.

Quote from Klutch :I've gotten bigger air bunny hopping.

Well, yes. But I ask you to keep in mind, much of that footage is a tad old, and and the day we filmed in the snow, it was around 15-20 degrees, which isnt that cold, but the day previous it was in the 40s.

Quote from Laura. :
I'm going to be starting to learn to drive within the next few months, would driving and shifting with clutch on the G25 be good practise, is the sim accurate enough to help me learn how to smoothly operate a real car? (at least on a basic level)

To me thats a hard question. It helped me to understand where gears are located and (not sure how to describe this) it helped me to understand the clutch. It did not teach me how to use the clutch, but it educated (?) me.
What ya think?

Hey, I've got a project due for a videography class at the end of break, and I would like some feedback about what I have so far. I choose to do my project on mountain biking, because, um, well I already had almost all of the footage. I am looking for some pointers/critiques on the editing and shots, not on the riding (which, yes, I do know sucks). Thanks (Its fairly low quality, so click on the watch in high quality thingy). And to any really observant people, yes, I did steal this music from topgear.

Quote from pb32000 :Thing is on English roads I bet you can as much fun with 100bhp as you can with 400 on American roads. (Yes I know, massive generalisation).

That is about 90% true. Most roads here are open with only fast turns, but there are some roads that have all sorts of tight turns. But thats here in Ohio, its better out west.

Quote from hrtburnout :I think he meant the fact that cars are so cheap to buy, insure and maintain in the US and A. Buying and running a Corvette costs as much in the US as doing the same with a Peugeot 106 in the UK.

Did you know that (most) cars cost 2.5 to 3 times less in the US than they do in the Netherlands?

I understand that completely; I wasnt real clear on that (the only thing that one of my Brit friends did was talk about how expensive cars and the things surrounding them were in the UK was). What I mean, is just because you can, doesnt mean you should. Personally, I would love a Miata, but I think that would be a bad idea for a number of reasons that I said before. Plus I would prefer a 4 door sedan/wagon to carry my bikes and crap in.

I hate the fact that in the US a young-driver of my age can get an MX5 as their first car...

I'm a young driver of around your age, and I hate it to. I personally think its not a great idea to give someone with fairly limited driving exp. a fast small nimble, RWD car. So many things to go wrong. Personally, I want to get myself a scooby or an older quattro (if I could afford insurance, I'd love a bimmer). But I'll probably end up driving a CR-V. But at least its a 5 speed and can drift like a true AWD car in the snow/ice (as I found out during a recent ice storm). But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I got my learner's permit recently and have sense screwed around in several iced/snowed over parking lots. One of our cars has no ABS, so that doesnt mean anything, but our honda minivan has it, and it does work in reverse (I dont know about older cars, ours is an 09)

Single track with no big drops. Still narrow and can be technical, just no huge air. Not sure how to better describe it. The guy with a lefty has no need for one. Looks like he is just using it as a commuter. Seems a bit pointless.

Quote from e2mustang :my opinion is a muslim man for americas president is just,umm.. yea..

Why would that be bad? If anything, that would be a good thing. Think about what the leading religion is in the countries that we are having conflicts with. Also, by LAW his religion should make no difference. . .

Quote from AjRose :I can't vote for either of them. It's amazing this is the best both parties could produce.

But I have a feeling whichever is elected will not be president for very long.

I would assume you are talking about McCain's oldness and Obama's being black. Right?

Quote from mrodgers :How many times can you vote in this "poll"? Is everyone in the world represented in this poll or is it only people who visit sites such as this?

Why is it, everyone on the internet is for Obama (I'm talking US here, on other forums), yet everyone I talk to personally is against Obama.

Obama is "for change". But what is the change and is it for the better or for the worse? I'm doing just fine holding a job at an employer who pays for my medical insurance. I already dish out enough of my money to the lazy who sit at home collecting from the government, I don't need to be dishing out money for them to have health insurance also.

If we could get someone running for the presidency that is worth voting for, I could vote. As it is now and has been for years, it's just a matter of rolling the dice and going with what randomly comes up. I don't like being forced to vote for a lesser of 2 evils.

Again, internet polls are not a pole of the people, but rather a pole of the people who visit the sites on the internet.

It has to do with demographics. Obama voters tend to be younger people and McCain supporters tend to be dare I say "older"?

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :The more pressing question would be why do you let your dog sniff and lick your balls?

I guess I kinda walked into that one. . .

I dont "let them" so much as they just do. My dogs love going through my cycling shorts while they are waiting to be washed.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Nah you can still sort out a dog's behaviour when they're older, especially something that's just a comfort or a boredom thing like chewing. I've had a couple of 3-year-old dogs from rescue shelters with very weird heads on them, but still managed to sort out most of their problems with enough time and attention.

True, but it is a hell of a lot easier to train younger dogs. Also, if a dog was not properly socialized with in the first year, it is almost imposable.

In addition, you honestly dont need as big of a crate as you think. Stay away from those metal caged ones. Those tend to be extremely big and take up a crap load of space. The plastic type are the way to go. A bit of time on google could probably find you a chart to tell how big of a crate is needed. The other option is to get (a) baby gate(s). That way you could limit the dog to one area of the house. We did this for a while when we were dog sitting for someone else and didnt have extra crates. Like others said, the dog will be annoyed at first, but then will adjust. Dogs are very adaptable and happy go-lucky. Labs are more laid back than any other dog I can think of, so it will adjust and go with the flow.
