I don't think he realises that he's an ambasador of american drivers in formula 1 one on a world stage. this sort of attitude will do nothing to endear the world to american drivers.

as for the stewards taking coulthard's word over his due to experience, didn't telematry and timing show that he commited the violation? if a computer show's he broke the rules, then HE BROKE THE RULES.

as for his behaviour, look at coulthard, hill, alonso, and others. they may be upset at times but they maintain their cool. they're classy and respectful. true gentlemen.

scott speed has made a mistake thinking that his only job is driving. he's a public relations man for the team and for red bull. i hope some executives pull him aside and explain that this type of behaviour is unbecoming of someone on the world stage.

I remember the first time i loaded up this game and watched the intro movie. it was the first game done in full polygons that i had ever seen. i knew it was something big at the time but none of my friends understood.

anyways. i've been ITCHING to see the intro movie or any of the other cut scenes for years.

I'm working on some finite element analysis heat flows for a design project and i'd love to get my results put into an animated gif that i can use as an avatar.

i don't have the time right now to learn how to use a program to such a thing so is there anyone out there who knows how to do such a thing and is willing to do it for me?

basically i'm taking screen shots from my program and putting them into MS paint to include in my report.

i respect that drag racing and circle track racing DO TAKE CONSIDERABLE SKILL.

BUT.... i find that skill is rarely transferable to any other forms of racing because it is so purpose specific.

if you look at road racers (guys that turn both ways) that have moved into circle track racing in the USA, many of them are quite successful. but when you look at the reverse, most guys who have come up through the circle track system can't make that jump to road racing. just look at when nascar goes to sears point. many of the regular circle trackers get sidelined and hired guns like Boris Said get pulled in.

personally, in real life and in video games, i like a good variety of turns. i like a long straight with a tight hairpin where you go from 6th to 1st or 2nd gear. i like chicanes when if you clip the curbs just right you can absolutely RIP through there.

that being said, i've never driven an oval in real life though i've riden my motorcycle on an oval in an industrial complex when they had paved the roads but built no buildings. after about 5 laps i was bored. same goes with video games. the monotony of just 2 or 3 corners just doesn't hold my attention.

i saw it on the news as well. one car had crashed in practice and slid a LONG way before coming to a stop. yellow lights and flags were out. then paul dana hit him at full speed. it appears he was so focused on speed that he wasn't paying attention to the track conditions.

hmmmm, i could swear i've seen schumi win in cars that shouldn't MANY times. and i wouldn't say he makes the most mistake. in fact, it's pretty rare when he spins or locks up and misses a corner.

you say he was missing apexes, are you sure he wasn't checking his opportunities to take a different line in case alonso gave an oportunity. i know that when i'm karting and i'm up behind someone and not able to easily pass i start taking different lines to see what options i've got on him.

- I'm writing up an engineering paper for university and the word "thermomechanical" is going to come up lots. i went to add it to the dictionary so i wouldn't be bothered by the spellcheck but by mistake i added "themomechanical" to the dictionary.

does someone know how i can get into the custom words i've added and remove that one?

... ok, first let me say i think they've made a step in the right direction, a big step in fact.

BUT.... i'm confused about the final 20 minutes with the last 10 cars. i understand that they must qualify with the fuel they will start the race with, that's no problem.

what i don't understand is:
1) the rule that states something about doing a lap within 80% the time of their best lap and if they're under that 80% their best lap is erased. i may be quoting incorrect numbers so can someone clarify this to me please?
2) instead of running around for 5-10 laps to burn fuel down before setting their qualifying time, why not just put 5-10 laps less of fuel and go out and do 2-3 laps? are they required to do a certain number of laps?

i'd say coulthard has had his time in quick cars and never shown much. he's a reliable driver who'll be consistant, just not consistantly at the front. i can appreciate him.

ralf on the other hand........ he's good enough to get a chance in f1, but he shouldn't have lasted this long. he's the SECOND HIGHEST PAID driver which is complete &*%$#@$ and in my oppinion is only there because of his last name and his manager's power.

kick his sorry butt to the curb and get some fresh blood i say!

well, from the sounds of things i might try the dreamweaver demo. but the only version i saw for sale was $399. OUCH.

i'm not looking at doing it for a career so being able to slap something together seems like a good idea to me.
