most marathons have a higher death rate than most car races. maybe not more deaths per competitor, but definately more deaths per event. marathons are still run.
my goal in turn one is to have nobody behind me to nail me. i brake gently and early. tires are cold, speeds aren't at full, why lock up and get a flat spot.
it might be the worst race of the season but i think it's going to be the best qualifying of the season. 22 cars trying to set a quick lap in 15 minutes? CHAOS!
if your left rear tire is locking up in a left hand corner that's just because the car is leaning to the right and weight is being transfered off of it.
that's natural.
do more braking in a straight line to prevent this.
personally, i can see Max Mosley's point that it will reduce some INSANE costs. but he doesn't seem to be addressing the biggest problem: after the first race, any team with a good engine know's they're safe in that respect for the next 3 years. any team who is down on power know they HOOPED for the next 3 years.
let's say you're a midfield team trying to break through (BAR, toyota, BMW). how motivated are you going to be if you know your engine is just not up to the task FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS?!?!?!?!?!!?illepall
the article on grandprix.com makes mosley look pretty bad in my opinion. most other websites just copy the general press release and regurjitate the same info. grandprix.com goes behind the story quite often and gives some very insightful views.
i had that wheel and the cables work hardened and snapped eventually. buying a used one of the original wheels is a bit sketchy in my opinion. but it did feel good while it worked.
I was trying out some long runs in the fz50 gtr. I had 50-70% fuel and was running consistant 1:45 to 46's. Once my tire temps had reached equilibrium after 8 or 9 laps, I paused and wrote down the temps.
I'm going to try some changes but I'm wondering if i'm using good logic.
I'm going to try changing the camber to put more pressure on the outsides of the wheels and go from R2's on all four corners to R1's up front.
hey, quit complaining. i think the UK has far more racetracks and karting tracks per sqaure mile than north america. i'd rather be over there or in europe where racing is more popular
i was going in and out of sleep during the race. it started at 5am local time. lucky i was awake for alonso's and schumi's second pit stops. every other time my eyes were open it was boring.
