Ok, so basically am I NOT going to be able to plad Blue-Ray movies WITHOUT buying a new HDMI-capable TV or projector? If so, then I can totally understand how Blue-Ray hasn't caught on as fast as they hoped. That's really stupid.
Alright, well Blue-Ray drives have come down a lot in price. I can pick up a Blue-Ray burner off Newegg for about $200, so I think I'm going to.
HOWEVER, having read a lot of reviews, it seems as if it isn't a simple case of plugging it in and watching HD movies. A lot of people seem to have trouble with the included "Blue-Ray DVD Software" and drivers and their graphics cards not supporting stuff blah blah blah.
What do I need to know before I purchase this drive? I have CyberLink PowerDVD 7 - does that support BlueRay? Will my 6800GT support it? (I know it can play 1080 video, just wondering if there's something it lacks? It all seems very confusing.
You can delete all of these partitions, but I believe that will erase ALL the data on the drive. You can delete each partition individually and you will only loose the data on that partition. So if you don't need that Vista installation anymore go ahead and delete all the partitions. Does that help?
Lol, agreed, considering my friend's left ABS sensor just randomly crapped out a few weeks ago ($350 to replace) and now the right one did as well ($450 for some reason)... I mean, he's got 160k miles on it, but he's not exactly ramming into things all the time.
Then again, I've got 220k, and I've been through some pretty deep potholes, and mine are working fine. So maybe any car that's based on a Nissan in the game should break easily, and any Subaru-inspired cars should be like tanks :P
Yea I know this isn't the ideal place to get any god help, but I thought I'd post here as well, since there are a lot of people on this forum. Thanks for the help.
I dunno if anyone here knows anything about this stuff, but it's worth a shot.
We have some vintage chairs in our basement, and we're trying to figure out exactly what they're worth. We have a set of 4 Eames LCW Chairs from 1946... and looking online the prices vary all over the place, though it's difficult to actually find any originals for sale online. We were thinking a set of 4 might be worth something extra... if anyone has any ideas about that, we're curious to know what they might be worth.
We also have an Alvar Aalto Paimia Chair from 1931-32...
Yea but, to my knowledge, that doesn't really affect gaming performance that much. Lots of pieces of files all over the place DO hugely affect boot times and loading times for games/programs, but they shouldn't have any affect on the ability of the CPU/GPU to render a game.
UNLESS all those programs you've installed/uninstalled have left all kinds of processes running that still start when you boot and are eating away at your CPU and RAM. How many processes are running when you do Ctrl+Alt+Del and bring up the task manager?
a.) People usually run into me from behind anyway.
b.) In real life that's what happens on the roads when a 911 slams on its brakes in front of a Hummer.
c.) In racing that's what happens when an Elise brakes ahead of a Mustang...
The point is, that's part of racing. Besides, not everyone has the same setups now anyway, so all cars brake differently in any given race. I wouldn't get all up someone's rear coming into a corner unless you KNOW you can out-brake them... otherwise you're just being an idiot. And if you can't out-brake them, then do what I do and leave enough space to swerve around or... brake earlier! In other words, if you're even a half-decent racer (in terms of actually driving, and also in terms of online racing etiquette) this shouldn't be an issue.
Besides your argument is negated by the fact that what you said would probably be true... but in the other way around. The people who aren't good at threshold braking will probably prefer to use ABS, whereas the people who are good at threshold braking probably won't... which means that the people behind you will have full steering control even if they have to slam on the brakes, which means that they should be able to avoid ramming you.
Of course, again, no-one ever seems to avoid ramming me anyway on any servers other than the ConeDodgers ones, lol.
These patches always come out JUUUUUST as I'm going home for winter break for a month. I'm leaving on the 19th... godammit, lol. I just hope I get to try the darned thing before I leave all my equipment for a month.
Looking at the new VW in the CMX Viewer, I just wanted to point out that I think the plastic cover over the instrument panel seems overly reflective. Maybe it's not nearly that bad in the game, but in the viewer, it's really too shiny IMO.
...just go round the damned thing and let everyone else worry about what you're going to do, lol.
No, but seriously, my rule of thumb normally is, if you can SEE the exit you're going to take when you look around the way you're traveling, you should probably be in the outside lane. If you can't see it, you should just stay in the inside lane. But whichever lane you're in, always use your signal to indicate where you're going. If you're in the inside lane, you might think it's fairly obvious that you're going to continue around the roundabout, but having your blinker on let's people know that that's your plan...
To clarify, the first part of plehto's post was correct, the idea of ABS ON ANY SURFACE is to maintain steering. AndroidXP's statement applies to the fact that braking distances are longer with ABS than with locked tyres... which is only true on certain surfaces.
Just clearing that up before people inevitably start arguing.
No. A mouse wheel is digital like a set of three buttons (up/down/click), it has no minimum or maximum setting.
That would actually be an interesting addition to LFS though. Other ways of doing throttle with a mouse/keyboard. Like allowing the mouse wheel to step up/down the throttle by a set amount (like 20% each click)... or allowing you to designate the keys 'a''s''d''f' as 25, 50, 75, and 100% throttle so you could kind of have some control over it. I'd definitely prefer that if I had a mouse...
Proof that synthesized sounds can sound realistic. Ok, shooting with a camera from computer screen is a little bit forgiving compared to Fraps video but anyway.
I wonder how much clipping that creates - there's one thing that needs improvement.
So wait... was that a mod that I could download somewhere? That was completely absurd!!!
All I know is, being the neat freak I am, I went and re-labeled all the folders of the aircraft so that instead of 'cessna_172' it said "Cessna 172." The result of this was that now not a single aircraft can access it's skin file, so I get nice big gray airplanes.
I don't understand, why do you need the sound to work when it's not in focus. Presumably when you are doing something on the other monitor, you would have LFS paused or something right?
Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm just going to go with Avast since most people here seem to like it. It's a mediacenter pc do the internet is only used for tv guide listings and that kind of stuff... so I'm not even that worried.
Well, I do agree that it is a bit confusing, but the reason behind it makes sense. Both of them are forms of memory, but if you are assigning two different words, it DOES make sense to label the hard drive as 'storage' and the RAM as 'memory.'
