Money is not what is needed to help the development of lfs. Offering money, donations, ect. is useless. IMO what the devs need the most is the growing support and interest from the fans of the game. And they have plenty of that.
Patch V or W. Its the new sounds in lfs, you cant do it anymore, press
shift + a when in game, and you will have the option to make it louder, thats as good as it gets.
LFS is an amazing game, its the only racing game i play. I have always loved cars and racing. This game by far beats any other racing game out there. Im not saying its a bad thing that the devs have so much ambition, im just saying, have they bit off more then they can chew, in your opinion. I think they devs are well under way to making the best game of all time. Honestly, they are probably the only game developers that actually dont care about getting it finished asap, and getting a big cheque. They care about making a great game, no matter how long it takes. I think the big cheques are going to come, and im sure all of their hard work will pay off.
Two things i think should not be brought up in conversation; politics, and religion. Everyone has their own beliefs, thoughts and ideas of what is right and wrong. When people try to explain how or why they feel/think a certain way about politics or religion, you get other people who feel differently about the subject, and try to correct them. Then the argument begins. Most of the time it is because people just do not understand that everyone has their own ideas, and everyone is right in some sence, but trying to enforce your ideas of right and wrong will only work on you children.
Seeing from my specs, my computer is pretty fast, but the graphics card is a bottleneck. When playing any game, my cpu gets to about 40%. In TDU, i get about 30-40 fps at 1280x1024, with medium everything. That game kicks the sh!+ out of a 7600gt, and mine is overclocked.
I just locked lfs on my laptop, and went to race in blackwood. But the car i had used before, mrt5 i believe was still selected, after i picked the track, it went to the screen before the race, and "Could not load stevewhite's car" repeatidly came up, untill i changed the car.
As for damage to houses/fences... Insurance of targa itself id say. I dont think there has been any damage to houses but i know fences were destroyed completely. Around where i live, there are so many amazing places to race, but the roads are in horrible shape. Giant potholes and stuff. My girlfriend hit a pothole, poped her front right tire, and almost went in the ocean.
I just went in lfsworld, and upon looking at the connection chart, the is a major drop in people online earlier. It was mostly all s2 drivers and only a couple of demo drivers. Did i miss something?
I know everyone is excited about S3, but are the features a little ambitious for the devs? I mean, it is taking a very long time to get things like damage modeling, sounds, ect, how long is it going to take to get rain, wet tarmac, night racing. I know the devs are amazing at what they do, and deserve to be well respected for all of their hard work, but is the development plans for lfs a little ambitious/unrealistic? I think it is going to take a very long time, to do everything the devs have planned at the current rate of progression.
I tried making crossover cables, and bridges but im just going to stop being a cheapass and buy a network adapter. Im really kicking myself in the ass now though, because i sold my wireless usb adapter aout a mounth ago.
Lfs doesnt look that bad. First when i started playing it, i thought it looked really good to be honest. After updating the textures to the hires ones, the game looks better then ever, especially with a good reflection mod. The graphics are just fine for now as long as you have aa and af, when everyone starts playing crysis, and then back to lfs, thats when you will see complaints. For a dx8 game it alright. My computer could handle a boost in graphics for sure, but i dont really mind the current state of lfs.
If you get your tires good and hot, you dont even have to move to get smoe to come from them. I think the way lfs make smoke needs to be completely re-worked.
If at all possible try and keep some stuff from you last computer so you can get more expensive important parts. Depending on what your hard-drive is like, what kind of optical drive you have(dvd-rom,cd-burner,all in one type) could save some cash, wouldnt bother with a sound card upgrade. The one in the p5b is great believe it or not. That could be another 50 pounds. If i had one piece of advice, it would be to NOT get cheap ram, it will cost you later. The crutial seems fine, although i love my ocz xtc gold (which has dropped in price by about 50% sence i bought it 3 months ago!). Try and save as much money as possible on some parts, so you ca get the best of the more important ones.
I got the p5b-deluxe. Its a beast! Get it and dont ask questions! I found it difficult to get my e6300 to get past 350 at first. But i went online and found some guides. The board is unstable at speeds from 350 to 400. When you get past that it all good. I can get 500fsb on air all day long and my temps will never go over 50. I almost got a 100% overclock. 97.5% isnt too bad for the ram i have. If i had a e4300 i could be getting much better. The only difference in the two are the higher multiplyer and lower fsb. Thats why you need better ram to overclock an e6**0 series processor. The only down side to the p5b is the lack of offical SLi. There have been people who managed to set it up, but you only get 16x and 8x or 4x (not sure) pci-e. So its not that great. It can do crossfire the same way. I have never had one problem with it. If i were you, i would go for the e6600. It overclocks very nicely, and the price just dropped. With the ram you want, and proper cooling you could get 4ghz no problem.
