I wish we could watch them on the older layout, very fast corner before the straight instead of rinky dinky before the straight.

Quote from GruntOfAction :Who's to say that some people that watch NASCAR don't watch it for the ovals? Speed never shows any other good racing except for repeats of Formula 1 from 2004..Plus, I only really watch NASCAR for the roadcourses, AKA The real tracks. lol.

They have MotoGP and school busses racing in a figure-8, what more do you need?

Complete Marketing hype, which by is the only talent EA has. It will still never qualify more than 1/10 on the sim-factor scale (hey it's got 4 wheels and you move forwards right? that's 1).

He's been racing for a long time and seen lots of success. He has not just won the ccws, he has dominated. He can go faster than everyone while using less gas.

His age and experience might help a crappy team like STR.

Also, it's not like peugot stood a chance at le mans anyways, 1 turn isn't that big of a deal in 24h race.

Quote from Count Duckula :Guys just step back and think about this.
[COLOR=black]Take a track, would it be easy for the computer to determine the shortest route around the track which will give you a distance? I think we all agree yes it would!

LOLOLOLO

The travelling salesman problem is NP-complete, IE impossible to solve in an amount of time which we can comprehend. If you take n-nodes on a track, and find the shortest route from one to another, you have to try out ALL COMBINATIONS, it is basically O(n!) time for a track that will have billions and billions of nodes. The nodes of course have to be as small as possible to get as much accuracy as you want out of them.

Ok, so even if you wait 30*10^20 years for your algorithm to find the shortest path, what do you have then? It's not the racing line, so it's not going to be the fastest way around the track anyways. You've picked a line that is surely not grip optimal, finding that line is even more computationally absurd.

The bottom line is that it's not possible to find the best time around a track, until you try it yourself. The best you can do is try and find some lower limit on the times, ie 'there is no possible way I could be any faster here'. But unless you spend a ridiculous amount of time learning about all circumstances for one particular combo, you're estimate will always be much much faster than anyone could reasonable go.

If you grab an unseeded torrent from RU, they send a message to others that have DL'd it to reseed. So some patience might pay off.

The flag disappears when the gap widens up in my experience. I figure the flag isn't valid any more at that point, otherwise it would be displayed.

Blue flag spams are annoying if they go to all or one, so this doesn't really address the problem

Quote from CSU1 :
Keep blue flags private between both partys and the whole issue will be solved imo.

...
So lets just understand that 'the sender' of the blue flag has every right to send the car infront a message to remind the driver in front of the situation.

Blue flags are already 'private', the person receiving the blue flag can see it. The person who intends to overtake doesn't need to see the flag, only to focus on making a clean pass.

You are correct in assuming that no one wants to see blue flag spams, including those with a large

BLUE FLAG

on their screen.

On another note, I still don't understand Dale Ernhardt's crash How he died in that, it seemed relatively light.

First was hit from the right side very hard, shifting his body to the right of the car, then hits the wall at a sharp angle at 150 mph. His head hit the steering wheel where the helmet is not very strong.

LOTA has just started it's MRT-Custom Course Cup! 16 mrts, a custom track built every week on the autocross lot. Last night was the first round of 3 races, and it was a total blast!

The first custom track was great stuff, some very good technical corners, and blasting straights into hairpins

I don't know what MORE Alonso should have done, he left room at the entry to the second curb. Heidfeld didn't have any overlap at that point and Alonso closed the line.

Heidfeld and Alonso are the only two with the cajones to put on some entertaining racing.

Quote :Improving the show: A turbulence sensor complete with an aircraft type back up system (for
robustness) will be supplied by the FIA. When travelling in high turbulence levels such as
those generated by the close presence of a leading car, the ride height of the car, both front
and rear, must be altered in response to the output of this sensor (within a set range, at a set
rate, and with appropriate hysteresis, determined from time to time by the FIA) to
compensate for the degradation in performance. In free stream the car is to return to a
baseline ride height. The purpose is to allow for full compensation for downforce losses due
to being in the wake of another car.

This seems hopeful..

Quote :Gameplay

Need for Speed: ProStreet will take the Need for Speed series in the same direction it was headed before. Extremely unrealistic arcade gameplay. But there are a few changes.

Arcade style is back!
...

ProStreet will feature next-generation graphics aiming for a more photo-realistic feel, and basic physics that we are all used to.

I hadn't really noticed it until you mention it, quite minor to me You're right, the mirrors now are a bit ridiculous. They're now shaded black in chase and shift+u also.

Quote from AndroidXP :Yup, they should show the own car, and the mirror images from the other cars need to go. It was a nice gimmick feature when introduced, but it is just so, so wrong.

What should replace it? Adding portal mirrors would make lfs more cpu intensive, and the effect gained would be minimal.

Or flat coloured? I'd rather have the current reflections than flat.

This is the single area where netkar pro is much better than LFS, flag display. It's got pretty little waving flags from invisible marshals off course.

Laguna Seca would be a good location, t1 would make for some passing. The track would need to be modified to make it safer, which would likely ruin it.
