Button Configuration Mix-Up?

Hello!

I've searched for similiar threads and read them, but couldn't really find what I was looking for.

I've got a problem in both LFS aswell as "rTractor", as the community here says.

That problem occurs when I try to press a button for text messaging in-game(Press t LFS, the quick chat in rF).

Somehow, I messed up today in LFS and probably made some kind of button-shortcut and activated or de-activated something.

Examples:

When I press button z to write a z, I get a y. Same happens when pressing y, I get a z in the text message!

And it's not just that, for example, when I try to write a "!", I also get a different letter or sign! It's like the keyboard commands have swapped places for some buttons!

Buttons like a, b and c are not affected by this.

Same in rFactor(Just an example, not that we're in a rF forum):
When I type the command for "!", I get: é.

Anyone did this mistake once too by accident? Is there a way to "reset" this to normal?

My laptop keyboard works normally on forums and etc, it's just in LFS text message and in the quick chat of rF that things get messy like this.

(If someone also plays rF and can tell what went wrong, I'd appreciate it really, since I have to deal with the rF problem now for some time).

Are you having the timeout issues at the moment ?

Right now, in this moment, no.

A week before, at the last iTCC round, I disconnected in R1 and R2.

I lost connection in the main race of the Apex Cup too, after 21/24 laps.

Maybe it's getting heavier with people from the whole world on one server with 30 cars...

Yeah, that could be troublesome...

How does the packet-loss program work? I enter the IP and it tells me how much gets lost?

Quote from Bean0 :Yes, I mean the IP of the LFS server.

Even if the other PCs are turned on and not in use, they could be getting windows/AV updates etc.

Hmm, true. AV updates are rare though, at least it seems so, and the PC's aren't "on" at the same time as my laptop.

Where is it possible to see the IP of a LFS server?

That means I need to check nearly every NDR server aswell as the Apex Cup.

No, I've told my family, and they aren't that much on their PC's, I don't think it's a problem with the bandwith.

Which server do you mean, a LFS server I'd be connected to?

We will drive GTAL and GT3 over - then there is no genitals on circuit anymore.

Sad to hear mate. At least we get to finish GTAL.

Otherwise I'd have to look for a team to drive for the last 2 rounds.

It was never a question before, if wired or not. Wireless has some problems, while wired is more "rock-solid", at least in my opinion.

Maybe the modem isn't configurated well enough? But I don't even know if it can be configurated, such a small one...

Well, it's not hard if you don't know it at all...

For example, I could only watch the 24hrs of Daytona because they were on Justin.tv... If that would happen for GP2...

Quote from Bean0 :How are you connected to the router ?
Wired or wireless.

Wired. My father's PC uses port 1, then my laptop on port 2.(Port 3 for my old PC that's now my brother's).

I don't mix up things with router/modem?

Getting more and more suspicious about our router/modem, as Tom Parker wrote about his router also causing him to lag or disconnect. Maybe that Linksys modem we have can't cope with the connection speed and makes and makes an "emergency disconnect"?

Anyone able to see what the problem is and can give me a hint?

Hello, I am currently trying to find out why I am disconnecting from servers when other competitors seem to be fine or doesn't get disconnected while only I do(Doesn't always happen, but it's a pain in the ass if it does!)

I have moved my attention from the servers(They can't be all crap or lagging all the time, can they?) onto my connection, router/modem.

This I posted somewhere else:

Quote :Well, I am trying to find the "bug" in the system to race without disconnections.

Can you tell me some things: What is considered a good modem? What should it be able to handle? I have no clue about that stuff, sadly.

Also, how fast the connection should be...

This one here looks like the Linksys modem we have:

http://homestore.cisco.com/en-us/switch ... ewprod.htm (It looks similiar to ours)

What I believe the connection itself is able to perform:

ADSL plus 16000/1000 kbit/s I think... From here:

http://www.solnet.ch/produkte/zugang/adslplus/

Trying to get to know how good it is, there seems to be a 20000/2000 option, but more expensive and not that much better.

Quote :Oh:

We have 3 PC's. The router, which is at the same time the modem I think, is connected to my father's PC and the #2 slot is for my laptop.

Does a router/modem like the linksys require a software to be installed on the main PC that it is connected to? And if, do the other PC's need that too?

Best thing would be that I order everything to make it a "racing connection", but you need money for that.

Btw: "rTractor" runs rather fine, I don't get that stuff often when driving in the GPVWC.

This connection exists since about 2007 I think(Before LFS). But only started to get serious during winter 2009 when I got LFS and thus needed the connection for more.

I'd really like to spot the trouble-maker in the system, I wanna race without worrying about the connection(It's not always like that, but it gets annoying when it does).

Well, basically, I need to find out if our modem/router we got in '07 is a total w*nker of equipment or not. Maybe it can't handle the connection's performance?

Or if it is the connection, but I don't really think it is the problem.

Speedtest:

Any help is appreciated.

Note that I am a layman, I don't really have a clue, that's why I ask. We also didn't set up the connection and router, it was probably done by network professional, who's retired now from his job.

Quote from squidhead :so, from this commercial we have learned that a Mini is a pefrect obstacle for proper manly machines?

Anyway, this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq-AtzZuSJw is the best commercial with a mini I've seen...

The Upper of the video wrote "Mini MORRIS" in the description. WTF?

It may be Mini, it may be Cooper, but it's surely NOT Morris.

Apart from that, much better.
