Quote from theirishnoob :ofcourse it can be done , the xfg has the looks of many old lil bangers , if you have a decent skill at photoshop it can be done

being skilled in photoshop doesn't change the 3D shape, nor making fake headlights will make the car look more like a Vauxhall Nova/Opel Corsa.

It will only end up like all those fake XRT/AE86 ---> ugly.

no this can't be done.

Any attempt to make an LFS car looks like another car always end up with an ugly result. You can't alter the 3D model with a skin, nor the headlights. Stupid request.

Asking for a skin inspired on a vauxhall btcc livery would be a better idea.

I think Eric is right about being very quiet in the forum. He would probably be flooded by stupid requests about real cars or track.

I don't use for several reasons :

1. I didn't follow the S2 dev closely these last few months, I didn't even know about it.

2. I only have a 15" LCD at 1024x1024 at the moment, so I wouldn't see the difference.

If I had a bigger screen and a more powerfull computer, I would consider paying for this though.

Quote from TFalke55 :well... i don't like to see an illegal drug too, but in the EU you can buy Cannabis products like cannabis spaghettis totally legal, and every product, uses cannabis in the recipe uses that cannabis plant as logo. There are bags made out of the cannabis plant, too... so... even if it seems to be offensive, it is not illegal.

sry to say

you can also buy ropes, clothing and many other things made with it. But that's not really a point in this case as the skin is referring to a bong (a water pipe or gloups if you prefer).

The LFS websites are hosted in the UK as far as I know, so only the UK laws are applicable in this case. I don't really know the uk laws but in most countries in europe, selling drugs is prohibited while taking drugs is still legal. Putting a drawing of a cannabis plant or talking about it is not illegal but covered by free speech so I think it's fine here. Maybe a UK citizen can confirm or correct me if needed...

Quote from RobbyMac :Nice work Knight!

Here are a couple (not so accurate, but close 'nuff) Tecate and Visteon schemes for the VO8

Great ones thanks RobbyMac

I have made a Leyton House skin for the FOX, FO8 and FXR a long time ago. i think it was more based on the 1991 car but it wasn't much different. I also started a 1991 7up FO8 but never finished it.

I could finish the Leyton House set for all cars if anyone is interested, it shouldn't take too much time...

Quote from MaximUK :Try these Tomi

Maxim

Thanks for the try Maxim.

Unfortunately, Tweaker was right and there is a strange coloration on it if you compare the actual dds file and the result on screen. They look too greenish in LFS. :\

is there an aluminium or brushed metal texture available for these mudguards ?

I love the LX4/6 but I would prefer a more vintage touch to them . An aluminium texture would suit all skins.

for free : Gimp

Photoshop is probably overkill if you are not a professionnal, Paint Shop Pro is great if you can't deal with Gimp's UI.

Quote from Vain :

Please consider that I don't want to show off with this video (I was actually rather slow...). I want to inspire people (like you!) to do the same so I get to see your onboard-shots. It was really simple to do this and basically everyone can do it.

Vain

Great vid Vain.

Actually, I did some onboard videos of some my best slalom (autocross) runs. I did them to advertise our slalom championship.

http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=ffsca+slalom

I have higher quality versions of them if anyone is interested.

As long as it can be disabled from the client, I don't see any problem with that. A sort of automatic grid presentation with these informations added just before the replay would be great too

Photoshop is overkill if you don't use it at work. It's great for a professionnal but it cost way too much for amateur skins/screenshots/photos edition. May I suggest Gimp, which is free and fine enough for most use or Paint Shop Pro if you are willing to spend a few bucks for a user interface slightly more appealing to people struck in the MS Windows world.

I have used all three in the past and they are all great pieces of software.

How are you supposed to know how satan looks ?

It is as funny as those stupid freaks who think they see Jesus or god everywhere. Some of them seem to have a really clear representation of how they should look.

Quote from Jamexing :
It's not the OEM state that counts. It's the cars POTENTIAL that holds currency with genuine tuners (race and sports performance tuners, not ricers ).

You can do what tuners do to almost every cars as long as you have money. Look what Lotus did to an old lada.

It doesn't make them legendary nor desirable cars.

Quote from cs_drag :+1 for adding AE86 in LFS
+1 for adding S14 Silvia in LFS
please add those legendary cars

Legendary cars ? ROFL :uglyhamme

if these ugly - and barely ok performance wise - looking cars from the 80's are considered legendary, I don't know what you call a Jaguar E-Type or Talbot Lago Figoni&Falaschi

this thread is priceless

Quote from traxxion :Hey,

On a Dutch community site for Simracing in general (www.simracing.nl) we as LFS'ers often get flamed for using nicknames. They say: "Nicknames belong to games, in simulators it's a tradition to use your real name".
Now I didnt know about that "tradition" but i do agree it would look a lot more professional if we all used our real names.

I bet there are a lot of people that love the privacy of a nickname, but what are your opinions on this? Would it be possible/good to start using real names?

People using real names race often in a more respectfull manner. In our multisim leagues, we don't allow nicknames.

Imho, nicknames are fine on public servers but if I want to race with the very same people in a championship, I like to know their names, because it gives a sort of humanity to the champ.

BTW, when I was looking for a new job, my new employer did a google search and found me in my league. That's one of the reason why abandoning our privacy when racing online give us more responsibility and tends to give cleaner races. I bet if everybody called me a wrecker or a cheater, I would still be unemployed.

can you upload it to youtube or google video ? Sadly I didn't have the time to download it...

You should also consider subscribing to archive.org who can host game replays in full quality.

The main problem I imagine would be to watch the replay live (I mean with a slight delay).

If someone connect to the stream at midrace, LFS will read the mpr from the start and won't know where does the stream file start. Also, if the spectator do a fast forward by changing the speed, LFS will not detect the point where it can't go forward longer and will probably send an error (or crash) instead of waiting for the stream.

I somewhat can't see that happening IRL.

This screenshot was made on purpose to look like the Grand Prix Legends Box set. I don't think you can do this with the released physics.

Quote from 02arnoldj :
Here is my 1984 Peugeot 205 T16.
You may ask why I chose to simulate this car? well it's simple.
The T16's Brother, (the Rally Version!) was banned from rallying in it's day, because it's power - weight ratio made it unfair on Lancia, Audi Etc... The T16 Rally car kicked every other rally car's ass.

This is completely wrong.

The whole car class was banned after two big tragedies which happened in 1986 :

-In the first stage of the Portugal Rally, Joaquim Santos lost his Ford RS 200 and killed 4 spectators and injured more than thirty of them. They were crowding after a big jump.

-in the Tour de Corse, the finnish legend Henri Toivonen (who was leading the championship and the rally) crashed into a ravine. He and his co-driver Sergio Cresto were killed. This happened exactly one year after Bettega's death.

The group B were simply considered to dangerous to drive.

As much as I like the Peugeot 205 T16, It didn't kicked the Lancia S4 ass. Toivonen was dominating the championship with the Lancia when he died.

Quote from Bob Smith :I always got the impression it was dirty old men that went to child porn websites, rather than other children.

I suppose it can happen accidently while trying to get informations about sex. I always hear about software filters to prevent childs to reach a porn or pedophile website accidently.
