nice try. I hate the music though but it is totally subjective.
I would say that some cameras choices are not the best. I'm a bit bored of vids with too many cams following the cars. The laggy moves also spoil the fun. Maybe you should record those footage with a reduced speed. The transitions are also a bit all the same and the music choice limit the interactivity with the video because it's a bit "full throttle all the time".
To me the main problem with the Raceabout is the existence of the LXes. Whenever I want to drive a roadster, I always end up using the LX4 or LX6. I just love the Caterham look&feel.
My only chance to race with the RAC is to join a server allowing only the RAC or Fz5. But if the LX6 is also accepted. No way !
Any attempt to make an LFS car looks like another car always end up with an ugly result. You can't alter the 3D model with a skin, nor the headlights. Stupid request.
Asking for a skin inspired on a vauxhall btcc livery would be a better idea.
you can also buy ropes, clothing and many other things made with it. But that's not really a point in this case as the skin is referring to a bong (a water pipe or gloups if you prefer).
The LFS websites are hosted in the UK as far as I know, so only the UK laws are applicable in this case. I don't really know the uk laws but in most countries in europe, selling drugs is prohibited while taking drugs is still legal. Putting a drawing of a cannabis plant or talking about it is not illegal but covered by free speech so I think it's fine here. Maybe a UK citizen can confirm or correct me if needed...
I know I'm slow. I don't have the time to train that often at the moment
I just wanted to point out that your rules were unclear.
you say :
I did all of this :
I was on the extreme outside of the track, I lifted the gaz early and smoothly and braked earlier so that DIMO could pass while letting him get the apex correctly. It's not like I was trying to block him or not obeying blue flags.
For the record, I may have a little number of race distance in LFS and be slow on most tracks/cars, but I'm quite a veteran in online sim racing. I race online since 1999-2000 (GPL) and I have organised several national championships (NR2003 and rfactor).
To me there is just a misunderstanding between what your rules says :
you must hold your course and allow them to pass unimpeded
and what your members says (Lotesdelère for example) : but yes, we ask them when they are under blue flag to give the racing line to the faster drivers.
The racing line is always crossing the width of the track, and a lapped driver can't just disappear from the track to let a leader pass. So while still obeying a blue flag, you basically ask lapped drivers to lose 5 seconds in the straights to let the leader pass without losing a tenth of a second.
That's fine to me it as long as it is clear. Just note that it's completely different from regular FIA rules, so you should expect people to not always be aware of your rules (afterall, I joined a random public server from the lobby, I wasn't directed from a webpage showing your specific rules), so don't be too angry if someone explain his view. In real life, lapped drivers never loose several seconds in the straights to let a leader pass if he is not in the slipstream. They just open the door like I did in the braking zone.
So discussion closed to me. I will act like you ask in your servers and not try to do as in real life or in other servers.
I have made a Leyton House skin for the FOX, FO8 and FXR a long time ago. i think it was more based on the 1991 car but it wasn't much different. I also started a 1991 7up FO8 but never finished it.
I could finish the Leyton House set for all cars if anyone is interested, it shouldn't take too much time...
Unfortunately, Tweaker was right and there is a strange coloration on it if you compare the actual dds file and the result on screen. They look too greenish in LFS. :\
Being shown the blue flag in a public race (GTR@AS3) on your servers, I let D.I.M.O. pass me by lifting and braking smoothly and earlier while opening the door completely (I was on the extreme outside in the braking zone) but D.I.M.O. still found a way to bump me while passing me.
I was then bored by 2 Conedodgers members who shouted at me to respect the blue flags because I supposedly didn't got out of the racing line.
So, just for the record, because I said I used to obey to the FIA rules and some people told me I didn't read them, here is what the FIA rules says :
Nothing says the lapped driver should get out of the racing line. It just says it has to allow the leading driver to pass. This is just what I did, in the same way as the real drivers do in the real races, by keeping the outside and breaking earlier and lighter to allow the leader to pass on the inside.
So next time one of you just do a stupid thing then shout at the other to respect the rules, just make sure you have a full knowledge of them.
I may not be a fast racer compared to you guys, but I always try to be clean and respectful.
As long as it can be disabled from the client, I don't see any problem with that. A sort of automatic grid presentation with these informations added just before the replay would be great too
Photoshop is overkill if you don't use it at work. It's great for a professionnal but it cost way too much for amateur skins/screenshots/photos edition. May I suggest Gimp, which is free and fine enough for most use or Paint Shop Pro if you are willing to spend a few bucks for a user interface slightly more appealing to people struck in the MS Windows world.
I have used all three in the past and they are all great pieces of software.
It is as funny as those stupid freaks who think they see Jesus or god everywhere. Some of them seem to have a really clear representation of how they should look.
