Did you scale up the clients when you started or did you just go straight to running 10 of them? Try 2 first, then 4, then 6, then 8 and see where the point of failure is (if any). The fact that the Radeon software keeps crashing sounds to me like the hardware is running into some issues.
another vote for a bigger oval, one where you don't have to take your foot off the throttle in the corners. Kyoto has done a great service to LFS but I am just plain old sick of Turns 3-4 being so slow! time for a Daytona or Talledega
Trying to figure out the solution to this problem and all I can find are threads from 2005 with solutions that don't work anymore.
I have an Xbox One controller that I would like to use to play LFS on the go. In literally every racing game I have ever played, I have been given an option to set a deadzone in percentage for the steering axis. Either I have owned LFS since 2006 and am totally blind, or LFS does not have this feature. For whatever reason, my analog stick is shown in LFS as just right of center. This totally ruins the game as I am unable to drive in a straight line unless I can hold the analog stick just right.
The thread I read from 2005 listed DXTweak2 as a solution for this problem, but it doesn't work. I set the deadzone, click apply, go back to LFS, and LFS totally ignores the deadzone even with "Remove Deadzones" disabled.
What do I have to do to be able to play this game without a gimped controller/why has LFS gone for so long without this feature? It's seriously nothing more than two or three lines of code that tells the game to ignore input within a certain threshold.
sure would rather race on those servers than be forced to choose between one S2 server that actually runs races that is always full and 300 demo servers where i can race the same combo i've raced since 2006. AC has leagues just like LFS and those servers are not run 24/7
apples to oranges if you ask me
edit: i just read your posts on this page above, please take your blinders off. you know literally nothing about AC, its coding, or its league activity
Take off the tin foil hat. You say you were involved with Windows 10 during the technical preview but I can tell by the way you write that you're full of shit and didn't touch the OS until MAYBE pre-RTM. You support a free operating system with your money? Who's the idiot here? I hate to break it to you, captain, but it's 2015 now. If you so much as connect to the internet, your data is out there. Whether or not you trade your ease of use for something that pretends to hide your data so that you can feel at least slightly righteous about the software your hunk of electrified metal uses is up to you.
How long has it been since operating systems came with, *gasp*, pre-installed advertisements? Do you remember RealPlayer? No? Maybe you remember opening up Windows Media Player's pre-installed list of online radio stations back in the 9x days? Anybody with a solid grasp on computer science realizes that disclosure of data is an inevitability. It's almost like when you install an operating system, you should personalize it and not rely on the default layout like some brainwashed Apple aficionado. The whole purpose and mantra of Windows has been customization. If you want to use what shows up the first time you press the power switch and never delve into the settings, you should have bought an Apple.
Anyway, I hear if you type "M$" three times in a row, Bill Gates pops out like Candyman and kicks you in the balls.
Christ, that whole post and most of the ones above on this page read like the forums I used to go on back in the anti-trust lawsuit days. Put your glasses back on, Grandpa Stallman
I remember meekly asking those in-game to share a setup with me if it was a combination I didn't have one for....the fond memories of "anyone set please?"
what, are you telling me there are specific time frames I can post on an internet forum? you're sad and pathetic. just over 3500 posts - and hardly any substance
now this is the type of server I like! while I won't be at my gaming computer til the end of the weekend, if the server is up when I return I'll be sure to stop by
Just some time trial fun for those who enjoy speeding down narrow streets and pulling tight turns. This track was perfected using a GT2 car (XRR + 26% intake restriction) but could probably be good for XFR/UFR racing as well. Some cars might not handle the turns so well though!
Deko you do a fine job of replying to posts but the other talking heads in this thread only seem to complain about people complaining and never actually take the time to reply to the post itself.
So you're telling me that different classes of cars have different physics? Interesting...
Deko, you've been moderator as long as I've owned LFS and I remember you as such. One of the biggest things in advertising the S2 license ~9 years ago was the fact that you'd get this wonderful S1 and S2 content now, and then you'd be able to upgrade to S3 soon as it came out for cheaper than it would be to get the license as is. That was LFS' whole marketing for multiple years. Don't try to drub that out of history and make it sound like S2 was offered for what it was, because it simply wasn't. I flat out would not have bought the game if I thought what I was getting was going to be the only slice of pie for the next 9 years. If you wish to blame society for the expectation of future happenings, you must also blame Scawen as part of that society for promising future happenings and then re-iterating those promises once a year, every year.
Sorry, I should have been specific. I mean developers and people who create content for rFactor still give a damn. The LFS devs don't care if they get it out this week or any given week years from now because that's how their development cycle works. Scawen has said it multiple times.
It's funny that you write this last bit because when I offered constructive criticism tens of pages ago, I was ignored and none of my posts were replied to. Isn't it funny that the only way to get you to respond, or anybody for that matter, is to call them lazy bastards? By all means, if calling Scawen lazy is enough to light the fire under his ass, I'm glad to be the flint.
EDIT: I'm not even going to dignify Gutholz with a response. The fact that I'm acknowledging his post even exists should be enough to quell his ignorance.
at this point I regret giving these lame bastards my ~$40 or whatever it converted to back in 2006. if I had known then that the claims of content being worked on were practically false advertising, I'd have thought twice about offering them my financial support. seriously, even if you had been working on content for 8 years Scawen, I can't consciously support a developer who sucks so bad at following through on his obligations to his customers
I'd rather play circa 05 rFactor these days. at least there are people in that community still giving a damn
I completely agree, but I'm still on board for those three or four races before I finally give LFS its rightfully deserved funeral in my eyes. Seems that it's only proper.
This is a dumb thing to say. Anyone worth their salt in a computer science field should be able to look at that code and understand it the first or second time, and if Scawen's code is that messy then it might do him well to go take a few classes.
While it's 100% understandable that Scawen doesn't want other people touching his code, this is too far from the reason.
S.E.T.H. I don't know if you're being willfully obtuse but you're essentially just dancing around everything Breizh is saying....you haven't offered one piece of substance to reply to. Why waste your time?
On the topic of self-made car mods, I'm certain VOBs fit in there. It's so easy to download and then mod an isolated installation of LFS with VOB mods. It's also illegal because most VOB mods use actual car bodies without license. The only thing you're missing from installing the mods is multiplayer; that would be the only advantage provided to having an official way to create cars for LFS.
EDIT: Summary of S.E.T.H.'s posts: "I don't like the idea of creating cars because it doesn't make me excited for the dev released cars. THAT MEANS NOBODY SHOULD EVER ENJOY OR ENTERTAIN THE IDEA OF FAN MADE CARS!!!!! YOU ARE SO STUPID FOR WANTING CUSTOM CARS"
has thought been given to removing BL1 from track rotation? I feel like if this server touts S2 in its name it ought to be S2 content, not demo content
if one wants to race BL1 there are at least ten different demo servers that offer XFG/XRG racing at any given time
All I'm saying is if you're putting your eggs in the DK2 basket, you're screwed when Oculus and Facebook use their technology for hilarious Facebook apps while HTC and Valve put their money on games. If you really think Oculus' system is better, you really know nothing about VR at all and the state of the industry at all. The Vive will without a doubt have the better developer support
It certainly doesn't take a doctorate in finances to know that practically everything Racer X is saying is true. Laws are laws and you're utterly ignorant if you really think big businesses are paying attention to tax law letter for letter. Large corporations quite literally thrive off of exploiting loopholes in legislation. That's why they hire analysts by the droves. With that being said, I'm all for LFS operating as a ghost in another country. What it boils down to is ultimately convenience for the customer - I think I'd much rather have an easier and cheaper way to obtain LFS legally than fuss and moan about who's following what tax law from which country.
very bigoted, very stereotypical, as an Italian i always knew people in the home country hated everyone outside of Italy but you don't have to be an ass
sedans are, if you haven't noticed, the primary way for a commuter to drive. any person with an interest for racing at any point in their lives has wondered what it would be like to tune the hell out of their car and go race with it. it's not that hard to imagine.
