I used to browse the internet normally......until I started completely avoiding people who still use "arrow to the knee" jokes. Let it go, dude.
I think we need 128 racer starting grids, just imagine how hilarious that would be. Or even 64, for that matter. That's a ridiculous amount of cars on-track at once. With a long enough course (perhaps KY3?), we might be able to hold a two-class race.
What's so hard about understanding that this guy has two extra things added to that car than I have on mine? Are you really that dumb that you can't see the rest of the car only because of the side-skirts and the front bumper? This is ridiculous. Why don't you fly out to where I live, walk to my house, and take the picture yourself? I don't see why the picture of my car has to be with pin-point accuracy, the same exact thing as what's sitting in my garage right now.
I dunno about the rims, but I know that the front bumper is definitely different than it is in that photo. That guy has those weird lower headlights on his, as well as the strange carbon intake thing.
My question is that, is it illegal for use in singleplayer? Or just multiplayer? It doesn't seem right that you should block people from doing that kind of stuff on their own, but maybe there's something I don't know. I'd find it kinda hard to believe that "some of them might have viruses" is the reason that VOB mods are illegal.
Imagine an endurance race in an electric motor kart. In my opinion, it requires even more strategy than a gasoline kart, because as long as you've got gas, the kart will go 100%. But with electrics, specifically Electra Motorsports engines, the kart will be slowed as the charge depletes. So you've really got to plan your stops for charging.
Here's a video of the place I work. Small track, but we're currently talking about leasing the warehouse next door to make the track even bigger. Small steps.
Now, I'm not a "noob" to LFS by any means (bought S2 back in late 2005 or 2006), but I figure this is the best place to ask my question. I've always heard how VOB mods, or mods that change the shape of a car, are illegal and will get you instantly banned. But why is that? I see plenty of games with car model mods that aren't illegal, so what's the difference with LFS? Is it because LFS doesn't have the actual licenses to show any of the other car models in-game?
Sort of a specific question, but I figure it's fun enough. Right now I'm employed as "race official" at a local indoor karting place. For the most part, it's just strapping kids into go-karts and watching them race. But I also officiate real events, notably a 100 lap endurance race held every year and occasionally World Formula kart races.
I've seen some really funny stuff going on at work, but I'm curious about anyone else. Do you work at all in racing?
Even if we were able to somehow bridge two instances of LFS together on the same computer (resource hog), it would be better than nothing.
Yes, this is a very good debate strategy. Call someone out on being butthurt and then proceed to call them "full retard". Well done! I can only hope that in the future, I may possibly apply to the College of Franky.S Internet Posting Etiquette.
I hate this sort of closed-minded logic. Just because you think LFS should be online racing only, doesn't mean that it WOULDN'T be fun for other people. By your logic, I guess we should nix hotlapping and singleplayer mode altogether, right? Because it's an online racing simulator, it says so right in the title!
I don't hate drifting; it's quite fun, even Saudi drift is fun once in a while. I'm only frustrated because the players that are racing on drift servers are ones that could (and should, if you ask me) be racing on REAL racing servers! Hahaha LFS is a racing sim, not a drifting sim! :P
I tried it once; it's really hard to get the layout even CLOSE to right while still maintaining any speed on the autocross tracks. I don't know if it's possible.
It is quite fun. Nice sweeping turns, but some parts of the track feel too narrow. The last chicane is far too small, or at least feels like it. I have to slow way way down to be able to make the turn, but maybe that's just me.
hahahaha an optical/laser/IR mouse is exponentially more advanced and more calibrated than even the best wheel on the market. it's just a matter of feel
It's especially painful because I remember what it was like, back in 2006, to be all high and mighty about LFS. That was back when you could find packed S2 servers for days and nobody needed any ideas on how to bring in new racers.
Never before have I read such ignorance and idiocy about a piece of software in my LIFE. A program that services millions of gamers world-wide is MALWARE? You're either incredibly dumb or you've never actually used Steam before. You can run Steam without an internet connection and you'll still be able to play every game you own. Granted, if you're not connected to the internet, you won't be able to play any games online.
There are even hardcore simulators on Steam such as Railworks that only get hardcore train enthusiasts as its userbase. If LFS was marketed as a racing SIMULATOR and not an ARCADE racing game, who's to say it won't end up in the same situation? You're all basically saying "Yeah, we could get more users into LFS, but I'd rather sit here on the forums and complain about how important I am and why Steam is an awful idea and why we should just let LFS slowly dwindle like it has in the past 4 years."
Infuriating. I'm borderline sick of the self-righteous sector of the LFS community.
EDIT: Or, as I like to put it, the United States will switch over to the metric system when England learns how to drive on the correct side of the road.
