I'm pretty much on the way to the finishing process
The grass now looks better, between green/yellow color.
Anyway i finished the backgrounds, grass, trees. Only some of the roads needs to be finished and this is alot of work to make it look right. After i finished the remaining roads im done and i can release it
The trees in my opinion still dont look very right. Not sure if its the colours or just the quality of the trees (Probably DDS related on my side) But i tried everything and i just could not make it better then this so i just had to accept it the way it is.
Been messing around and i found some settings that does the trees look better.
You need to Generate Mipmaps to make the trees look sharp at a far distance otherwise without Mipmaps (Like i did before) They look really blurry from a greater distance.
Also save them as DXT1 Alpha otherwise the trees are not transparent
The Highest setting will save the trees at highest quality.
The Alpha Zero Border (1 texel) removes the black edges around the trees (Improves edge transparency).
The Sharpen Filter i somehow need to make the trees look at its best. With this disabled it looks really blurry
I still need to try customized sharpening filter. Anyway this DDS thing for me is really complicated ive been messing around for hours to make the trees look better.
All the other textures (non-tree related) dont really need all these settings (No Mipmaps, just 1 bit-alpha).
This is how the trees look now after i discovered all this. Much more detailed.
Im currently investigating why the trees look so bold?
with the nvidia dds info app i compared my saved tree dds to the original lfs tree dds.. i think i saved it wrong (Without mipmaps) so the trees look blurry and bad quality. i have not figured out yet why this is happening. Currently testing the Sharpening Filter.
the original dds flags are : 0x00021007 while mine are different
Also DDSD_LINEARSIZE appears on my saved DDS files while the original ones dont have this flag/line
I think only the LFS developers know what i do wrong
Yeah, that repeating is unevitable.
If i had to remove the repeating effect then i would leave the roads empty without leaves, so i had to make this choice. but like you said i think it looks not that bad
Here is a sneak preview of my AutumnMod im currently working on.
I tried to make this as realistic as possible using layers with alpha transparency and opacity in photoshop. I cannot make this any better then this because its really hard to accomplish a high level of realism mainly because the textures repeat themselves all over the track which is causing problems with the realism of the leaves. But i hope you guys will like this.. i wanted to make everything look natural. not too bright.
I know what you mean my old mod-topics here on this forum used to have alot of screenshots. but that old-host i used in the past does not work anymore. so all the screenshots are not there anymore.
So i think that could be the reason you dont regonize the old forum-topic anymore
Nothing really has changed compared to old futuremod except i made a new main menu with a
new futuremod tune. And changed the color of the streetlights/lampposts in South City and
Blackwood.
Enjoy and have fun again.
The all new AutumnMod is next on my list. This one will be developed from scratch so it
could take a little longer then just my Mod-Updates for LFS Patch Y.
Its basically the same as the old nightmod, but updated for LFS 0.5Y, i made the streetlights/lampposts slightly better on Blackwood and South City but thats about it.
Important info for the nightmod to get the best possible night lighting effect.
1.Graphics -> Put Haze Effect off
this will disable the bright grey/white fog that you see at the far end of the map.
2.Blackwood=Cloudy Afternoon
South City =Overcast Day
Fern Bay =Overcast Dusk
Autocross =Overcast Afternoon
Kyoto Ring =Cloudy Morning
Westhill =Cloudy Afternoon
Aston =Cloudy Afternoon
Enjoy. Futuremod and the all new Autumnmod is next on my list
Maybe when i have some time left i can release a small update for it. But i dont normally do specific requests right now im working on the desertmod thats being updated for patch Y.
If anyone has a better website to put this snowmod on please do so.
Everything else is pretty much the same as the old snowmod. Its mainly Blackwood and South City. Also did some small changes to signs, buildings etc they look a bit more frozen.
Snowmod for Patch Y is almost ready. I'm having some problems with the new Vegetation on the roads in Blackwood cant seem to find the correct file (Its still green should be snowy white) Also there is a corrupt texture in my old snowmod for South City when using it in the new Patch Y.. so 2 things that needs to be solved.
Desert,night and futuremod will be next.. and maybe autumnmod also when i have the time for it (Needs to be made from scratch).
Ive tested my current snowmod with Patch Y and it seems it works pretty good i only have to make some changes on South City track and remove the remaining green Trees mainly. So probably this wont be a huge change and alot of Photoshop editing, this saves me alot of work for my snowmod but also for my other mods. Ill try to work on it as quickly as possible.
Problem is i dont have my texture files anymore (project files) of all my mods. But ill see if i can fix my mods for Patch Y.
Guys i created those mods i need to update them to patch Y.. ill see what i can do maybe just maybe im able to do an autumn mod also. But this is going to be alot of photoshopping im sure of that.
