maybe i am doing something wrong but i cant get this program to work.
i tried U,U20 and U22 .. normal soundlag setting.
i copied the outgauge lines to LFS cfg.txt port 35555
when i run CSR_03 and LFS i change some values in CSR then i press Test Run and i dont hear a difference at all
this time i used new vista nvidia drivers and also new sound blaster x-fi drivers.
i run average of 100fps in LFS and sound works fine from sound block 3 now. i only still have the audio-positioning problem. like when you crash at high speed into a wall you dont hear a crash sound.
U20 still has same soundlag problem as RC1 and before.. my guess is also that its because soundblaster didnt release new drivers yet for RC2.. im still using the ones back from july.
about U22 .. works best with soundblock of 3 / 4 (4 is slightly more stable) .. also noticed when you switch soundblocks to fast LFS completely freezes up in vista..
also in U22 its like (im not sure how to describe it exactly) the "sound positioning" is kinda weird.. when you crash into a wall.. you dont hear a crash sound.. and when the car drives by it sounds different compared to xp.. like you miss 1 speaker or something in a surround set...
i used bios pci latency of 64 (default)..
this is all i can tell so far.. im using a sound blaster xf-i elite pro.
also 1 major thing.. dont use transparent sidebar gadgets in front of LFS.. that makes the soundcrack / pops even worse..
small update : in XP SP2 with U22 all soundblocks works fine but i still have that "sound positioning issue".. still dont hear anything when crashing into a wall at high speeds
unfortunately i have installed the sound blaster x-fi vista drivers dated from 12 juli 2006 (old ones) since they havent developed new x-fi drivers for RC2..
but i'll give LFS a try with U22 and report details back here soon
just wanted to let you know i posted on soundblaster forums (vista section) about this racing game.. i did not mentioned the name of this racing game because im not sure wether that is allowed. some forums sees it as advertising..
anyway my nvidia drivers on vista are made for RC1 but the soundblaster x-fi drivers i have installed are actually 2 months old (june 2006) and its not really made for this build of vista but its still a vista beta 2 driver.. so maybe that could be the problem why vista has so much soundlag in LFS
Yeah i know.. vista ultimate takes up about 500 - 700mb of ram by default with about 34 processes running..
error below sometimes occur in vista and it has something to do with the soundblaster creative x-fi beta vista drivers

Busted App
There were 24 unreleased IDrvAdapterMgr/IDrvDevice/IDrvProfile interfaces illepall

Update : i disabled like 90% of all vista services.. (also stopped them) and it still takes up 485MB ram and 25 processes.. i still couldnt go lower then 0.25 secs with the LFS soundlag. i have tried all options. i guess only registry tweaks could be a last option but im not that advanced.. scawen i hope this info was useful to you
maybe some nice windowsupdate. videocard or soundcard driver update for vista will solve it? who knows
Testing it out now.. ill edit the post as soon as i finished testing.. I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite pro and i'm using the "Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Beta Driver 2.10.0000"
In control panel Sound options and Dxdiag DX10 it seems all ok sound is working in vista..
update : ok this is weird.. the main music runs fine.. but ingame you cant hear the engine sound when you set the lag (at misc options) lower then about 0.20) ... 0.26 works for me without pops and clicks in it..
also you really need to disable the sidebar feature of windows .. no transparent gadgets in front.. or it will be even worse
compatibility mode makes no difference.. also without vista eye candy makes no difference either in sound lag..
well this is what i could do for now.. ill see if i can find anything else to hopefully make it work below the 0.26 lagsetting
i posted this also in the spinoff vista section but i'll post it here as well
well i just installed Windows Vista Ultimate RC1 Build 5600 (x86 32-bit) (1 september 2006 build) and LFS U20 works just fine in single player and online.. i have a geforce 6800LE and i used beta nvidia vista drivers.. also unlocking to S2 worked without any problems..
since vista is pretty heavy the fps was alot lower compared to XP .. also i noticed a huge difference in FPS when it comes to single player vs multiplayer.. multiplayer is alot slower then single player..

pikes peak hehe i had this video once of the old rally group b cars.. those were dangerous rally times with rallycars that were just to powerful illepallillepall
well i think they can leave the 0.00001 movement but they need to reprogram the sound engine then in a way that tyre spin/scream doesnt occur at 0 km/h .. only 1 km/h and higher i think.. i dont know actually
nevertheless its still a bug .. in real life it would be weird if you are in a traffic jam and all cars starts to tyrespin/scream after 1 minute when standing still lol
i used to have a Mazda 323 GT-R (www.ggon.net) its like the brother of the Nissan Pulsar Sunny GTi-R ..
very rare and it was used for rally racing.. stock it has about 180 HP 4wd turbocharged (0.5 - 0.8bar)... mines was tuned up to about (1.2 bar) (IHI RHF6) .. 230HP and 320NM torque (feels pretty much like a rocket when launching with 4wd ... http://www.ihi-turbo.com/turbo_RHE-RHF.htm
funny thing is if this car had 1 ihi turbo type higher.. it would actually have a truckturbo
0 - 60mph in about 5 secs .. top speed i ever drove was 240km/h (transmission box was to short i had enough powerillepall)
so when it hits 240km/h it was actually hitting the gearlimiter lol
tyre scream sound when standing still for a period of time ..
not sure if this is ever mentioned before but its some sort of bug i guess.. not a big one tho.. its also on the latest U20 so it hasnt been fixed.. yet
its like when you stand still with XRT on blackwood for example and you disable your engine using "i" button.. after about 1 minute you can hear your tyres spinning (tyre spin/scream sound) ..
dont post problems that happened on test patches as well as official U patch
just post problems that only happened on test patches and not on the U patch. and describe how to reproduce it so other people can confirm it is really a testpatch problem
hi, i have a question i have the latest lfs lapper 3.3 with lfs 0.5U .. everything works except for the commands below
Idling options
Swear words filter(Calm down nickname) also the (haha:hoho) or anything like that
!help (some !commands)
is this because of the U version or should it be compatible with U? maybe i am doing something wrong with the script i am NOT using the latest testpatches (U20)
it would be funny to program a protection-code in a way cheatpeople wont get kicked then but when cheat is detected their car instantly breaks down (instant broken suspension "F10 all red bars") lol not to forget instant 4 blown tyres as well
it spoils so much.. because i enter servers now with the thought "i hope there isnt any cheaters around here" .. it just dont feel competitive anymore with the thought like "lets try to win this race!" or something like that.. it takes away the fun of fair en competitive racing/drifting/dragracing..
normally you have a bit like adrealine feeling because of the competition.. but with all these cheats going on the feeling is gone a bit..
now of course this doesnt stop me from playing lfs.. but all cheats should really be banned as quickly as possible
sad something must be done about this.. maybe a warp cheatdetection code. or a detection-code when a certain acceleration force or top speed is broken (compared to the non-cheat default forces/speeds) they get kicked automaticly
well it was like this.. some of my lfs buddies had that cheat to.. so when i created a server with the U patch.. i asked them to come online to my server.. some of them had the U and some of them had the U20 patch... nothing happened they didnt get kicked.. so i asked them "ok enable that cheat" .. as soon as they enabled it.. they got kicked by CPW immideately..
so its not about false files or mismatches.. its really when you enable that cheat..
anyway punkbuster is nice yes.. i played alot of Return To Castle Wolfenstein back in the old days.. people couldnt use aimbots or anything .. only a tweaked config/cvars that is allowed on the server using the /pb_cvarlist command.. if your config is tweaked to much.. you get kicked by a cvar violation
