I know this has been suggested already (parts that fall off of cars when crashing) but I want to make sure of something a bit more specific:

Have the parts follow proper physics (at the very least, the tires!!) when they fall off. This can be done client side only for visual purposes.

The best part of GPL for me so far (since I can't drive worth &%$@) is watching my wheels lazily roll past my eyes as I come resting upside down against the armco...

Yeah no sleepy eyes for you...

Although that would really be kind of neat. How about roll down windows while we're at it?

What is shift S, car reset?

I have a dumb question of my own! Is it a bad thing or a gesture of appreciation if someone honks at you after you let them pass?

I just got S2 (for the servers more than the cars really) and am really enjoying racing on some of the servers (thanks STCC!).

I am not a fast driver, and realized that I'm even slower on these new fangled tracks I haven't even driven on before. So slow that I finally get my first blue flag...this was about right before the last esses on FE Club. I was not able to really let them pass until I reached the beginning of the straight. Did I wait too long?

I was going to make a thread about it but here was already a nice one so I will wait until I grace(lol) this forum with a thread started by **me**

How about just having random bugs splat onto your windshield as you drive (or into your teeth, in the case of the open wheelers). Presto, ambience/immersion problem solved.
Speaking of which, may I suggest animated scarves for the drivers?

Just some clarifications

Quote from mrodgers :Here ya go...

Honda:
Honda
Acura

Nissan:
Nissan
Infiniti (think cars rather than audio, Infinity, and maybe you should have known that, LOL)

I couldn't tell you about that Nissan/Renault alliance though...

The company I work for doesn't own any of them, but makes the bumpers, seats, doorpanels, headliners, trunk liners (the boot for all you guys outside the US ), um.... footrests I think, headrests, and, um, oh yea, fenderseals (for sound insulation).

So, Fordman, what are you? Ford mechanic, dealer, manufacturing, assembly line, CEO of Ford?

I'll just say it: Drifting is the Pro Wrestling of motorsports.

Isn't Nissan under Renault? [edit: an alliance it is] As far as I know Honda is still an independent like Toyota.

XBCD

to honor the efforts of community peeps who go out of their way to improve products (with potential) that the original manufacturer just shoved out into the market to make a quick buck. If it wasn't for that XBox 360 controller with PROPER drivers, I may just never have gotten into LFS.

It's got REAL CARS!!!!111

Who can resist that?

I can, after having played the first one. If anyone would like to prove that REAL CARS != awesome experience then they just need to play Juiced...

Well, the dyno part was kinda cool.

Pies.

Especially homemade ones. With flaky crust. Graham is good too for cream pies. But fruit pies must have flaky butter tops. Lattice crust is wonderful to behold on that window sill.

What is it with this forum and pies?

I still like them. But not too sugary, no. I like to taste and feel the texture of the fruit thank you!

You can also see this easily by looking at the majority of homemade in-car hotlapping videos on YouTube. The lack of peripheral vision, tarmac detail, and proper sound makes it seem like the car is barely moving, even with hard cornering.

There was a LAN party recently and LFS was shown to a few people who were not familiar with sims. Mostly the reaction was, "it doesn't look like you're going that fast" "oh I can go much faster than that in real life"
This was the XRT by the way, interior view, and about the default FOV. Chances are that the XRT is faster than any car these people have ever driven in RL. I guess you can't really blame them; I felt the same way when I first played. Doing 30mph in RL in my XFG-lookalike feels like I'm doing 120 in LFS.
I have noticed that these days, it's all about first impressions as well as some sort of unexplained personal EGO that prevents people from stepping outside their comfort zone. It is as if they will look like a gimp for saying "wow this is cool" when the person before them said completely otherwise.
Eventually you will run across that one person who has been looking for something like this all their life (slight exaggeration) and there will be another loyal user.
"The people who want to play LFS will play LFS"

That was an excellent article. Thanks so much for posting it. And I fully agree with Mr. Kaemmer's views.

Well, PC Gamer certainly had no qualms reviewing LFS even though it is still "alpha."

I thought this was going to go in the direction of rfMotors or something like that. Would have been cool. I don't think some of those actual racetrack pages have taken all that much time to put together; have a look at http://portlandraceway.com/ for example. But it would still take time that we all know is going somewhere very important. You could have club days and race schedules posted on a central hub. But LFSworld pretty much renders all this redundant.

Quote from Shotglass :so if you play rfactor youll catch an std ?

The best analogy I could come up with is, the STD represents the money you spent on the game that was essentially wasted since you only got a good 5 hours of play out of it. I am not pointing at rFactor especially, since I have never tried it. Now, if you are one of those types who spends more time posting screenshots than racing, then you will be one of those people with the magical immunity to the said STD

I'm just thankful I can play LFS just fine with my GF4 Ti4600. Sure, it would certainly be nice if it looked better, but then I wouldn't be able to play it and therefore it would be worthless. Similarly, if LFS looked fantastic (like PGR3) and played like NFS, then it would once again be worthless to me.

But it would sure be nice to show off to your friends for 5 minutes so they can say "Whoa dope"

I hate that thing about today's culture: most of the stuff out there is just that 5 minutes of jaw dropping mindlessness then...moving on to the next hotness.

I enjoy LFS because it is one of those rare things we have in today's society that isn't caught up in that disposable whirlwind. If people aren't impressed by it on first sight? They wouldn't have given a toss after 5 minutes anyway.

The people who care enough to have stuck around and are whining about graphics? Just venting but only probably because their friends aren't impressed for that 5 minutes. Don't worry since they won't give a damn afterwards anyway.

Chess has pretty sucky graphics. Does it have its devotees regardless? Yes. Sudoku has even worse graphics. Do people play it?

Well, I don't. but not because of the graphics

Which formula is it? The plain yellow GP or the red force feedback? The yellow non FFB wheel sadly does not have split axes, so you will have to do combined pedals in the setup.
