Carlin announced Jake Dennis today at the Autosport Show as one of their FIA F3 Europe drivers for 2014, great news for Jake and F3. Can see Jake making it to the top if he stays sensible and doesn't do anything outrageously stupid in the next few seasons.
This is coming from the driver who does one race a year in the FXR at So4 of course.
Personally I have very little complaints, I think that for a season a single category should be used and within that a Pro/Am class should be setup like the GT2 and GT1 world series. I really liked that. As for now we can see everyone flocking to GT2 and even in my own team most people have trouble finding time to practice and therefore are more likely to demand they are put into the GT2 squad despite most of them being far more than adequate for GT1. It's just something to add to thought for the future.
I would like to know what kind of 'mistakes' you are alluding to in the OP Deko? From my perspective you've done absolutely everything possible to keep NDR running leagues and by extension keep LFS alive. Your leagues are fine, run polls as you are doing and surely everyone will be happy? Who were the select few acting like children? It's the first i've heard of it..
I like the idea of wind. All the tracks we use have been used thousands of times before (in terms of laps) so why not spice things up a little? Super GT Series Fe3 I remember we had wind and as a driver that was one of the most fun races I've ever had on LFS, despite it being difficult. This is a simulator after all, to shy away from wind is just ridiculous, we can't sit here and dream about night races or wet races and then not use wind even if the extreme settings are a little unrealistic.
As for timings of the races? They've always been the same. If you have school the next day then do the early stints it's not too difficult a decision to make and one that most people have been dealing with for years without complaint.
This is what I don't understand. Sorry, but when was the last time you brought something constructive to a thread? How is your post in any way constructive criticism to the league?
teamName: Team Vires
attending: Yes
class: GT1
car: XRR
number: 02
drivers:
- {Matias-, Matias Pikkarainen, Finland}
- {N I K I, Nikifor Đaković, Bosnia and Herzegovina}
- {danielroelofs, Danny ter Maten, The Netherands}
- {sbb, Elton Chong, Hong Kong}
Over the holidays Vires welcomed back into the squad Kristof Kerekes who left the team by mutual consent just over two years ago to join the most successful team in LFS history: SpdoRacing. Kristof, or Kristi to his friends, is from Hungary and has recently got back into sim racing after some time away. I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Kristi and to wish everyone a happy new year from everyone here at Vires!
You take one of my points and ridicule it in an attempt to undermine the entire post? You want people who have issues with FPS to post here? Well here I am. I have issues at South City and I look forwards to places such as Aston where the track is open and there are few objects added. Adding them to a place such as the chicane does no favours for people who don't have the latest trends of computers. Yes it was a fickle point but a point nonetheless, adding unnecessary objects (in my opinion) to a corner such as the chicane isn't needed, and this is a point highlighted as a Con.
There is no real difference, I still experienced issues during the 24 hours at Kyoto but didn't complain about it because its better than a buggy to f*ck curb that has a 50/50 chance of either letting you through or "you shall not pass" and wrecking damper. Since that's not an issue in this circumstance I don't see why I or anyone else who experiences similar issues should have to put up with it. I hope that answers your rhetoric.
Not even going to get into the setupgate debate since it's all mindless drivle at the end of the day. Welcome back to LFS ineX.
I appreciate that but my PC is totally screwed, and I'm not in such a fortunate position where I can go out and buy a new one. I do struggle with my PC. For example the start of a race it like I am stuck in the matrix, and I don't even have an old PC, maybe 4 or 5 years old.
Besides, it was one of my points, I do think the other eleven points might warrant some attention rather than taking one and berating it, Phil asked for a constructive post and that's what I provided.
While I am all for layouts to be added onto tracks to make things more interesting, for example in FE4 or KY3b, I do think this is a little unnecessary. As mentioned, there have been countless events held here for years using this chicane and there has never been a huge issue. After a few laps or at most a stint things get stretched out and for me in the events I've been in, so long as common sense is used there has never been an issue. The only issue I've ever had there is when my rears popped in the middle of the corner in my first 24h race, which was just unlucky and nothing to do with the corner. No layout would have saved me from the crash I then had.
It's pretty clear where my vote will lie. I can see the Pro's and appreciate Phil for taking time out to make the layout to add some spice but unfortunately I think it's completely unneeded. The Con's outweigh the Pro's in my opinion and therefore I'll be voting no.
Con's:
- FPS issues, wont name names but someone said if you have FPS issues then buy a new PC. Sure, feel free to buy me one. And my team mates while you're at it.
- The nature of the corner makes it more likely for you to jump the throttle too early and end up in the tyres anyway, not to mention scattering the newly added objects.
- It's not difficult for a GT1 to back off a little if it is behind a GT2 approaching the corner since they will gain the time lost back by a small slipstream across the start finish straight.
- In GT1 this is one of the few sectors where XRR has an advantage over the FZR, please don't take that away from us!
- What's wrong with having a corner that will punish you for a drop in concentration? It's realistic!
- The nature of the curb on the inside actually means if you are following another car, you can turn in earlier, get on the curb and still find enough grip to power through the corner leading to possible overtaking opportunities in T1. Tried and tested for years in the BF1, FOX and GT1/2 categories.
- If you do happen to have a mistake and plow into the tyres or outside wall from pushing too hard then tough. Luckily the pitlane is seconds away and you can repair the car without having to drive half a lap with a wrecked car.
- Poles and etc can sometimes be fairly glitchy, leading to completely unrealistic reactions when you hit them such as damage or even pointing you in the wrong direction.
Pro's
- Slowing everything down does mean less chance of a 'huge' accident, although I am yet to see one happen in this corner.
- A new challenge, it's always nice to have something new especially in LFS where everything is stagnant.
- Allows a corner where the FZR can possibly gain time on the XRR in the GT2 category, untested this theory though.
- On the constructive side, sure it's a nice idea. How about using something lighter such as stopping people destroy the curbs in an unrealistic fashion such as poles or bails on the inside of the first apex and on the grass on the inside of the middle part? Worked for AMG for years on their AS3 GT2 servers.
I've tried to be as constructive as possible, if it still hurts your feelings I apologise in advance.
Actually, it's more like Gutierrez and Sutil at Sauber and Ericsson and Van der Garde at Caterham. Sirotkin can't and most probably won't have his superlicence in time for the start of the season so you can expect him in F1 2015.
Looks like Chilton has been able to hang onto his drive at Marussia as well even though his father left Aon a month ago, so Chilton and Bianchi there. No room at the Inn for Heikki, can't say I blame the teams either. Going to Lotus turned out to be a disaster for his career and pointed out the obvious that he was always one of those 'mid field' drivers.
Why are you still posting and getting involved then?
If someone is six plus seconds off the pace in GT1, politely ask them to drive GT2 rather than use a more powerful car and constantly interfere because they can do the corner 40kph slower and then catch up on the straight. Don't put words into my mouth, I am not suggesting a criteria, common sense would be an adequate firewall.
I'm not calling for an 'elite series', I'm calling for some sort of firewall to stop people who clearly have little to no idea what they're doing participating in the series.
And it's that kind of attitude which is contributing to a downturn in interest in LFS.
I'm all for trying to keep the grid populated and encouraging new drivers to participate in the league, but when a GT1 driver cannot drive his car faster than GT2 car and shows no progress over the three rounds, causing multiple incidents then I'm sorry but they have got to go. They destroyed our race by being incapable of the simplest of tasks. I'm pretty appalled at the drastic decline in driving standards and basic behaviour in LFS, something really has to be done, I didn't want to post about them in previous rounds because I didn't want to be 'that guy' but enough is enough.
