Why not make an ABS system that is more sensitive when you turn the wheel more then a certain amount. Turn it a little, no ABS. Turn it past a certain point and the ABS is enabled.
I think that car is built for a "wheelie contest" where they see how long of a wheelie the driver can do down the track. Hence the huge wheelie and the advertisements on the bottom of the car. And the lack of a wheelie bar, lack of any kind of wing for downforce, etc.
I disabled JS for the hell of it, and I see what you mean. At the top of the page, it just says " days, hours, mins, secs until 2009!". And the calendar doesn't even show up! Wow, google, wow.
noscript tag? That would allow limited functionality. Like displaying the countdown from when the page was refreshed (which would, however, require server-side scripting obviously), but still show the whole calendar thing below it, and the search box. Limited functionality, but better then the page being all messed up. Problem, of course, is the larger amount of disk space required to render the page. Perhaps, a server-side javascript renderer would work better. There would be an application which would render all the javascript on the page and send it to the user as regular HTML. Limit of that method is processing power being used up.
True, a one second reaction time only adds about 30m onto the stopping distance. But, reaction time is from the point at which you notice the obstacle to when you react to it. But if you don't notice the obstacle like some idiot changing the radio station, looks up, and realizes that there is a stopped car in front of them and slams on the brakes. Their reaction time may have been 1 second, but the perception time is greater then that. It takes humans a little while to identify a problem, figure out what to do, and do it. The reaction time is just the latency between deciding on how to fix a problem, and actually doing it. But you still have to perceive the obstacle, and decide how to react, before you react.
If you know how to properly brake (not that difficult to do), then you can probably stop faster without ABS. The thing is, tires and suspension technology was alot less advanced when there was no ABS. But ever since ABS started being used, tires have become safer, etc.
BTW, on my car, ABS doesn't even engage on dry pavement.
When I'm driving the LX6, I always try to keep it between peak torque and peak power. I shift it so that the RPM drops just above peak torque. Because at higher RPMs, there is more engine braking and it's more difficult to control when you downshift.
If you're scared of life, though, then wouldn't you want to commit suicide? I don't want to die, that's the thing. If I die, then I can no longer complain about my problems to people on an international computer racing simulation forum.
I think they only protect the copyrights of those whom they do business with. They do business with many record companies (that's how music videos get on youtube sometimes), so they protect those companies copyrights. Besides that, they don't care, but if they are asked to take something down, or find out about it, they will because they don't want to be sued.
/facepalm. I hate when people say that. It's like oh, get a drink and a gf. Screw the females feelings, just pretend to love some girl so that you can have a gf. It just seems kind of weird to put in that sentence the way you did. If you don't like someone, then don't go out with them. Don't pretend to like someone just so you can have a girlfriend so that your self esteem is increased, because that's emotinally abusive.
EDIT: I just wanted to say again that I agree with lerts. Don't try to do stuff to cover up your nervousness. Find out what is causing you to be nervous in the first place, so that you can address the specific issue that is making you nervous.
I don't have any New Years Resolutions. But I do have non-binding goals that I wish to accomplish this year. In order of how much I'd like to do them, they are:
1. Get into college
2. Ask a girl out
3. Go to a club and try dancing
4. Sign up for an autocross event
5. Get laid
Nothing says love like buying people expensive things. The only time I would ever feel obligated to buy anyone a gift is to return the favor of they bought me one. Otherwise, I don't give anyone gifts.
Yeah, to some extent. Like, you wouldn't want to have any less then about 75W going to a subwoofer. But 500W+ is just overkill for near-range speakers.
You should only need an amplifier that can output 40W RMS if you use a car (or any other passive) subwoofer. Depends on the sensitivity though. At 40W, if the subwoofer had a sensitivity of 80dB 1W/1m, then it would output 96 decibels at one meter. Half power, 20W, it would output a still very loud 93dB. Halve that again, 10W and it would output 90dB. You really don't need much wattage to drive a speaker to get decent sound. It's only anoyying chavs with 1000W RMS speakers.
