Looks and sounds pretty nice, but it just looks plain wrong physics wise IMHO. I couldn't stop laughing when he drove out on the grass in the second vid and the car just bounced around a bit and returned easily to the track.
I haven't watched the vids because I already know pretty much what they'll be. Hype-fest over the uber "realism" of GTR2 and "revolutionary damagemodel".
Have you been to an ALMS race? Seems to me that every team has a unique sounding GT3 RSR. lol, none of them seem to have the same sound to them. Also, the Maserati MC12 race car's sound is comparable to a modern CART champ car IIRC. (comparing the 95 villeneuve championship winning CART car I heard at the "Sommet des Legends" last year in July with the MC12 from Mosport last year.)
Somehow I don't think that's what the MC12 sounds in GTR2. Just a feeling. Maybe I'll watch the vid to confirm my belief...
lol I was actually watching a vid of the TVR, which sounds so sampled.
As for the Maserati, please tell me it has a flat 12, in which case it's just a bad sampled sound if not then I might just have to
As for physics sure it will be ISI like but I don't think we should be so pre-judgemental, in comparison to S2 the S1 physics were crap, hopefully GTR2 will show this kind of leap, if not in graphics and sound. Anyway doesn't bother me too much as I'm sure my computer won't be able to run it just like all other ISI sims
Hmm, 512 mb for a freakin demo? At my rate of 2.5k/s on dialup and leaving it for 5 hours a day using download accellerator so I can resume the following night, it will take me a short 10.3 days to download it. That is if I even remember to resume the download nightly. Nah, I don't think I'll be trying it.
512mb is just way too much to download at work. That would make a free download cost quite a lot at the loss of a job.
I was hoping this might be downloadable via direct2drive or something else, but its not on there.
Everything about gtr was good except the netcode and starforce.
It may not have been the best 'sim' physics wise but it was good enough. If the online part of it worked at all I would have played it now and again.
If they pull the same stupid stunt of leaving the sim mode out of the demo, I wont bother tring it and they wont be getting my cash at all.
Nothing against starforce I'm just lazy, been spolit rotten by steam/lfs and virtual drives.
Media based checks are an inconvenience for pc owners. there is no need for it any more.
Its because the demo is verys imilar to the game. If the crackers can see the game without the copy protection present, it gives them a big advantage in cracking the retail version when it is released (or even before its released). Copy protection isn't there to completely eleminate piracy, its main purpose is to stall crackers so it isn't cracked in the games primetime immediatly after release.
Hmm, I haven't heard anything about Securom installing rootkits. Can anyone shed some light on this? Up until now I've thought Securom to be pretty OK.
Yup, I've heard the whole deal about the Sony BMG music CD:s having rootkits. But I haven't yet heard anything bad about Securom, that's why I was asking about it.
