CZ was the coolest version of CS, IMO. But it was definately underplayed. There's just so many maps, and so much more to the game. The hostages are freakin' awesome!!!
Nice. I've been meaning to track at PR for a while now, but never had the chance. But I just got rid of the Syclone for a SVT Focus, so I might be out there later in the year. I'll probably lap it at Bremerton, first, though.
I just finished Shura No Toki as well. I thought it was pretty good. But it could have been way better. The fight scenes were too slow for my taste. And I didn't enjoy the 3 different generations. I kinda wished they blended them all together instead.
Yeah, that would be me. I guess skinny describes me well at 5'11", 140 lbs. I'll be at pretty much every BSCC event if you ever make it out there. I've been meaning to do some track days at Pacific, but not until I get my car put back together. I lapped once at BMP with my truck. That was a brake nightmare! They practically caught of fire.
Dude, shocking. Here's me autocrossing at BMP with Bremerton Sports Car Club, and me on a track day at BMP also with BSCC. I also have some onboard footage.
I didn't know anyone around here played LFS. I've been trying to get people interested in it, but it doesn't seem to work. I even brought out my computer and my G25 out to the BSCC awards banquet about a week ago. People seemed to like it, but I think the price of a G25 scared some of them away.
My question is, who are you? Do I know you? Have you ever raced with BSCC? That's basically who I always race with (actually I'm the current President), and I'll also may be co-chairing a lapping day out there later this year.
My personal favorite is a draw between Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, with Howl's Moving Castle almost right up there with those two. I haven't watched all of them yet, but I'm working on it. I'll be watching Kiki's Delivery Service probably tomarrow night, and will watch the rest, eventually.
They're finally continuing to air new Bleach episodes here. Off to episode 53 tonight. I believe they're going to air the next 52 episodes every Saturday, supposively. Damn this series is long! I probably won't finish it for another 5 years.
I would be cruel not to share this with you guys. This guy on an NSX forum decided to try to spam his website and scam some people out of their money. He picked the wrong forum to do that in. It spread like a wildfire. Over 150k hits, and it ain't slowing down. It's spreading from forum to forum and is probably some of the most funniest reading I have done in years. They guy edited most of his posts, so some of it might not make sense, but if you read on, you'll figure out exactly what he said. The server is having difficulty keeping up with the bandwith demand, so you might have to refresh a page a couple times to get it to load properly. It's becoming gigantic, but will be well worth it if you have the time to read it. If you don't have the time, just skim over it, and you'll still be rewarded with roflcopters of fun!
I've only seen a few series that are over 50 episodes. Right now I'm watching Blood+ on TV. Alot of people really like it. I think it's pretty good, but I can be better. It's alittle slow and doesn't really keep you on your toes that often. But it has some strong characters and a fair amount of action, which makes it actually pretty good. It's basically the sequel to Blood: The Last Vampire movies, so you should probably watch that first, if you haven't yet, but it's not necessary.
Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) TV series also comes to mind. I'd hate to use this word in reference to past posts here, but it is kinda "childish" in a few ways. The fighting scenes are unrealistic, and many of the characters are unrealistic and overtechnical. But the story and the pacing is all very strong. And it leaves you in the mystery of Kenshin's past, which sets you up perfectly to watch one of the, if not the greatest animes of all time, the Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai X OVA!
Here's a list of all the animes I've seen, and what I rated them at. Also have a few comments on some of them, but I've been kinda lazy on keeping up on those. And here's what I've seen only some of or am currently watching.
Berserk is freakin' awesome. I just wish they wouldn't tease us with calling the anime "season one". I really really really want to know how the story continues, but unfortunately I don't read mangas, so I probably will never know. It's a shame they'll probably never make a sequel.
evilgenius and March Hare both bring up good points. I for one have no problems with women. And practically everyone I know that likes anime has a girlfriend or wife, and quite the healthy social life. And quite a few of them actually are girls.
Oh, and BTW, your right about Samurai X OVA, it's absolutely amazing! I made the mistake of watching it before I watched the TV series. I ended up watching it again after the TV series, and it made it two times better!
Haven't seen Beck yet though. But I was planning on it eventually. Right now, it's not readily available for me to watch, so it'll have to wait.
I just finished up the 2nd season (episode 52). I was watching it on Cartoon Network, but they no longer have anymore episodes to play as of right now. So they have recently replaced it with something that appears to be even better. They're now playing Death Note.
I gotta be careful what I read here. It sounds like you guys are way ahead of where I am in Bleach. I have to slowly wait for them to release new episodes into the U.S. Or I can watch fansubs, but I rarely ever do that.
I just finished up Utawarerumono this morning. It has it's ups and downs, but definately is a good show.
I don't believe this. Japanese animation is taken so much more seriously in Japan than say American animations are taken in America. Same goes with animations in other regions of the world. If you ever been to Japan, you'll realize that anime is a way of life there. It's been built into the culture there. Therefore, writers tend to be much more creative. And production companies have much higher standards to then go by. If you look at the art quality side by side of a Japanese animation TV series and compare it to any TV series in any other region of the world, you'll notice a huge difference in quality. Same goes with the story and character developement. It's just so much more indepth, and this is what makes anime enjoyable for most people.
I don't see much of a difference in the way Japanese are educated compared to education in Europe or America. Actually, from what I hear, schools in Japan are alot more difficult and require alot more effort. They have things called cram schools that are ment to prepare you for entrance exams for high schools and colleges.
I won't dissagree with you that American movies are unrealistic, as anime can be as well. But as far as I know, American movies are actually quite popular in all parts of the world, just as anime is. Perhaps being unrealistic is a good thing. It's actually called being creative, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Honestly, you can say the exact same thing about people who play video games (us). There's always that small percentage of people that play video games who take it too seriously. Just like anime. But that's is seriously only a small percentage. And just because something is animated has absolutely nothing to do with it being for children. Look at The Simpsons, or Family Guy. It's simply a different means of telling a story. Does that mean if a live-action film uses CGI effects, it's for kids? Saying that cartoons are for kids I don't think can be justified.
I like anime, because the story within it can be expressed alot deeper than it would be with live-action. And alot more imagination can be expressed in them as well at a much smaller budget. That's why they can release awesome shows like Last Exile, without a breaking the bank like The Lord of the Rings movies (I use both of those as examples, because they're both approx. 13 hours long).
And as far as crying, how in the hell can you justify that crying while watching an anime is sad? It tells a story, stories can be depressing. People cry when they read books. Do you find that those people are sad as well? Some people are more emotional than others. What the hell is wrong with that?
By the way, you watched Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. It was targetted towards probably ages 10 and up. The English version was licensed by Disney, so of course it's going to be alittle childish in a few ways, as are many other Ghibli films. But adults can easily enjoy it just like they enjoy Disney Pixar films.
Grave of the Fireflies, mentioned earlier, which started this whole mess, also a Ghibli film, is one that isn't really targetted for children. In fact, it would probably give kids nightmares if they saw it. Even Roger Ebert gave it great reviews and even claimed it had him cry alittle.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Some people here are actually kids, you know.

Luckily we have Netflix in the States. And they have a really, really good selection of anime. That's what my main source for watching anime is. It kinda makes it too easy. I could probably list everything I've watched. But it would be a pretty big list. I've currently seen 164 different movies, series, and OVA's. And I'm currently watching 10 different series.
