I really liked the concept livery from when the 2017 911 RSR was officially unveiled. Could someone make an FZR skin out of that? I tried to do it myself but it turned out quite badly.
I see a problem, but it's only something you'd pick if you were familiar with branding and marketing.
You won't ever see Lucozade and Coca-cola sponsorship on the same car. Lucozade is a Pepsi associate (via Suntory Japan), and in a case where Lucozade was the prime sponsor (featured on the nosecone), Coke wouldn't go near it. Vice-versa, if Coke were the prime sponsor, Suntory (the owners of Lucozade) would not allow one of their brands to run the risk of being associated with one of their associates' competitors.
Additionally, cropping logos is only okay when the livery is primarily about that logo. Secondary positionings, such as the front wing, would not rotate, crop or otherwise compromise the integrity of the branding. If I were the branding manager for Coca-cola, I would not allow the logo to appear as you have it here. Best case scenario, they would make you redo the stickers. Worst case, they would withdraw their sponsorship...
I don't expect that anyone will care, and that this is all semantics, but it's something you might like to keep in mind for your next livery...
Welcome to the wonderful world of marketing and advertising
Sully, what sponsors do you want on the cars?
Would appreciate if you paired then to a position as well
Either that or I'll slap some on myself, if no other changes are needed to the livery?
Many thanks,
Cheers
@Mkydr bruh isn't that the 2000 Buzzin Hornets Jordan?
Decided for 2017 I shall have a skin for myself.
My current is getting a tad old (2 years) so I thought, hm, you guys here seem pretty in the know about skins!
There aren't any limitations to your creativity for this one! Let your hand (and mouse) go wild, but here are the few "musts(?)" that I hope you'll put in.
- Skin should be professional looking. When I mean that, not just in the edit, but the design. Not those wild graffiti/random lines type of skin, more towards actual racing category type (An actual livery).
- Avoid any pink, please
- Certain logos should be on the skin (you can color them to blend into the skin, or edit them slightly in terms of design to fit your look of the livery), such as :
>https://i.gyazo.com/2a60e0e0a18901bc75f08eff78568c51.png < are two seperate, not one. Most prominent on the car.
>A Michelin logo < lest prominent
>Racing number, 11, and my name, Nova <name should be on the driver cockpit restrain sides, if possible
Other sponsors/logos feel free to fill in just for looks, but be mindful I'll be selecting if the skin is fitting, so don't go and plaster some wonkey adultsite link or something on the side

Alright, knock yourself out! Hope some good entries come in, haven't done this type of free-designing concept at all.

I guess my take on any real racing org livery is..
In LFS only most cars are not the make , model or type the original design is on in real life, the BF1 etc are the exceptions and then it could be argued they now are not the current model or shape.
So if I put the design of a V8 Supercar (My local racing format) from a from Craig Lowndes Caltex sponsored car onto the FZR its going to be different due to the car shape no matter how faithfully I reproduce it.
Lawyers may try a "look and Feel" case but as you point out it's an inspired replica of a real life paint scheme and unless its on a Holden Commodore in LFS it isn't exact
If the skin is fan-made, and as long as it's not distributed as part of the game, there's no problem and nothing the original owner of the livery can do.
The only thing that would make it a problem would be if someone was to try selling that skin for profit, for example, including it in the game's installation, or starting a e-commerce website that sold custom skins. That's when the lawyers start to turn up...
It has been quite a while since I've skinned (outside of team skins). However, here I am again. I was first making this as a request for a friend, but a public release is a no-brainer. I present the FIA Formula One World Championship winning 1999 McLaren-Mercedes MP4/4. Both driver editions - #1 Mika Häkkinen and #2 David Coulthard - are available for download!
Livery of the 1999 McLaren-Mercedes MP4/4, MH & DC editions.
By the way, the skins are already on LFS World, so you do not need to upload them.
This skin is free for public use, but please do not edit it, do not rename it, and stuffs.
The PRIZE for the winning design will be 2 x VIP Hospitality tickets with our team to Silverstone where your livery will make its debut, plus MAJOR kudos for you!
Is that a livery or dazzle camo?! Anyway, yeah, it's fairly easy to make the texture or textures separately and paste them onto the skin as you want. Just remember to paste them, rotate them first then adjust for stretching.
Well it is not a huge issue to me.
But for example this skin for Raceabout:
As .png it is 114 kb
As .jpg with 100% qualy it is 433 kb
The jpg is 3.7 times larger.
(Not a big problem: saved with 98% or 99% and it goes under the 400 kb limit.)
For previewing I always "trick" the Skinviewer by renaming the exported .png files (from Inkscape) to XFG_mySkin.png.jpp
Works for LFS.exe too.
It is just bit strange that I have to convert files to make them bigger.
Quality wise there is not much difference, not sure how much traffic or storage matter.
I noticed several times that my skins as png were smaller than the jpg versions.y
jpg and png compress different, so it depends on image content what is better.
This livery might work better as png:
-clear lines
-large areas with one shade of color
This livery might work better as jpg:
-no large areas of same color
-color gradients
That might be cool too. Skin templates have some empty areas that could be used.
But not sure how compability with jpg would work and many current skins paint into the "empty" areas. Main use would be flag/number/name which could be in driver profile, like license plate. But goes bit offtopic now..
