Quote from sinbad :The worst thing you can do is just lift completely off the throttle and try to recover a lary slide with the steering alone. That route leads to tankslap city.

At Skip Barber Driving School they teach you to lift completely off the throttle and countersteer. I corrected nearly ever slide with only countersteering.

Yes, tapping the throttle 2 or 3 times might help a little bit, but i got the impression that he meant holding the power steady.

Quote from tristancliffe :Yes you do! Not all the time, but sometimes.

This is true in both RWD and (more frequently) in FWD.

In FWD the power (with opposite lock) can pull you back straight, and in RWD it's all about slip angles and weight transfer. Adding power might transfer more weight to the back, which might help the rears gain traction. Saying you never do it is wrong.

True, in FWD it does help but if you find yourself sliding the last thing you want to do is floor it. I've thrown my car into slides on purpose (in open, empty parking lots) in order to test the different methods of correcting a slide and found that applying throttle will RARELY help at all.

And if you're sliding already, applying throttle will just spin the tires even more making the rear unlikely to gain traction again. Obviously there is some weight transfer but not enough for spinning tires to magically grip the road..

Maybe you are arguing this method for racing purposes but if you are driving around town or in the snow or in the rain on public roads, never apply throttle.

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :LFS has helped alot with my oversteer correction alot. If you watched me race my mini about a year ago, i was'nt what you would call a pro. When ever i used to get oversteer (a 230hp mini CAN get oversteer you know :tilt i used to aplly too much throttle and steering to try and straighten it out. This just caused me to either lose alot of time because of getting too much angle, or i used to just spin out completely. Now, im alot calmer when this happens, and i am alot gentler on the throttle instead of just having it on or off.

you never apply throttle if you're trying to save a skid...

Quote from mrodgers :Don't know where you are from, but RappaZ is close to me, as in the next state over to the east. It is definitely not cold out and we just were done with 5 days of 95 degrees with high humidity. Don't listen to him .

It is cooler this week. Some 80 F temperature is quite a nice break from 95 and humid. Last week was so humid I could only sleep about an hour or 2 every night because everything felt so wet.

Yesterday couldn't have been a better day. It was about 72 without a cloud in the sky until later on at dinner time.

I'm from Long Island and we experienced the exact same weather . Yesterday was beautiful.

Quote from red_wing_2121 :We all do realize that this is a computer game we are talking about, right? People are free to choose what servers they wish to join and what servers they do not. So, there is no reason to bash anyone's server because you think you were banned for no good reason or whatever. If something like that happens to me, I go to another server! I don't make a thread about how much I hate a specific server or their admins.

Moral of the story: If you don't like it, TOUGH! Go find another server.

Agreed.

Now someone should close this thread before it gets out of hand........wait a minute

Quote from Breizh :I'd wager the odds are that the longer you wait, the worse the post-op experience will be. So by your terms, you should be booking an appointment with a dentist asap.. If they are growing crooked, their screwing with the other teeth is independent of whether they've emerged from your gums or not.
Just don't schedule the operation less than two weeks before any important speeches you need to make

What i heard is actually the contrary. The dentist explained that if you wait until the wisdom teeth grow fully, they are easier to extract because the whole tooth is not embedded in the jaw bone anymore. Instead, if you take them out early like i did, the WHOLE tooth is under the bone and therefore a huge incision must be made in order to chisel out the tooth. The problem is if i waited, the rest of my teeth could have gotten crooked. Kinda a Catch 22.

It is now day three and my mouth is still swollen as anything, everything is sore and i feel constant pressure in my jaw. The right side of my mouth is perfect, no pain (still swollen) but not sore. Its the left side that is causing the trouble...this is going to be a long week lol.

Quote from shiny_red_cobra :LOL @ this thread!!!!!!! So the dentists tricked all of you into having your wisdom teeth removed? LOL. Guess what?

They're taking advantage of you. Think about it. People these days just don't have the dental problems that people had say 40 years ago. With all the advancements in toothpaste, toothbrushes, and regular cleanings, people's teeth are in far better condition than they used to be decades ago. Bottom line? The dentists can't make money anymore like they used to, back when everybody had major problems with their teeth. Cleanings are NOT expensive and dentists do NOT make much money off of them.

So guess what they come up with to fill in the void? "Hey, we can make some money by removing people's wisdom teeth!!" It is a good plan indeed, as almost everybody falls for it. I just turned 21 and I have not, and do NOT plan on removing my wisdom teeth. Why remove them? The dentist muttered something like "they will push my teeth together or outwards or something", but that is a bunch of BS to get me to do it. If it really WAS a serious problem he would make sure to let me know. But if he tells me "it would be good" to remove my wisdom teeth then I know there is nothing actually wrong with their presence in my mouth.

Use your brain when making this decision, don't just take the "trusty" dentist's word for it, because they are business people too, and they want to make money off you just as much as the next guy. And here is the icing on the cake: ask your parents if they had their wisdom teeth pulled when they were young. My parents did not have them taken out, and they still have them in to this day with absolutely no problems, and so does mostly everybody in their generation. Do not waste your money on USELESS operations. As much as I support dentists, I do not like being ripped off.

You're icing is similar to that of mud being placed on a pile of B.S. (you're "cake"). BOTH of my parents had their wisdom teeth removed and after wearing braces for years, my teeth are finally straightened out. If i didn't get them removed, they WOULD have pushed my teeth together again and caused them to bunch together.

Hey Lizard, this is Captain if you remember from Junkies =]. My advice is to learn on the most common combo available. Blackwood GP with an XRT. Once you get you're times to at least 1:26, you'll be confident in the line and it will be easier and quicker to learn the lines of other tracks. Practice Practice, no different from the oval =] (which, might i add, people don't give enough credit to)

Quote from Craig WA :Hi,

Hope you feel better soon. I had two compacted wisdom teeth taken out in hospital about 15 years ago (showing my age). I remember having to take painkillers every 4 hours 24/7 to numb the pain for about 6 weeks before I could get into Hospital to get them out (and that was a Private Hospital).

When I came round I was dosed up on painkillers until the next day and then never had a painkiller from then on.

Maybe I was lucky to have had the pain beforehand !!!

Cheers CRAIG

Ha interesting. I spoke with a few of my friends that had it done and got mixed reviews on it (like this thread). Some said it was sore the first 2 days and thats it, some said it was sore for a week. I guess we'll see.

Hehe, mine weren't fully developed so the roots had not grown in al lthe way. I obviously feel soreness but it honestly isn't as bad as i thought. It hasn't openly bled since the operation and i hope it stays that way.

Just had my two bottom wisdom teeth yanked out. My bottom lip is still numb and tingly from the Novocaine they used but the operation was painless...probably because i was put to sleep. My bottom jaw is pretty sore, the left side more than the right.

Has anyone else had their wisdom teeth pulled? If so, how did you feel after, and how long after the operation did it take before you could eat normally again?

Come on, the guy asked a question, stop ruining his thread.

My favorite is the 1966 427 Shelby Cobra because my dad built a replica with his friend and i've been around it since i was born. It's a frighteningly fast car and i actually had my first drive in it last week. Two words, RAW POWER.
