It's surprising how much the first word of a post can sometimes reduce the credibility of the rest of the post. No matter how correct you may be, it somehow doesn't seem to matter when you start the post with "lol"...

Personally I think it would be better to just move the "Today's birthdays" thingy someplace more visible... like to the header of the General discussion? And congratulate with PM's if you actually know the person, instead of making a thread for it.
Excluding the people who create duplicate threads / ask the same questions over and over again, I think the birthday threads were the most annoying thing in the "old" LFS forum at RSC.
