Quote from Homeless_Drunk :I don't know a single car company that would honor after-warranty clams and give a discount on labor/parts...that's because no car company/dealership/repair shop is in the market to lose money...

What are you talking about?

Warranty Ends = End Of Warranty...it doesn't mean, "we feel bad because things broke so here's a discount because you beat the shit out of your car."

When a rather high amount of your cars have similar problems after 5 years, a car company isn't just going to ignore them, else no one would buy their cars...

As Jak says, happens a lot and i've heard of it, quite a lot.

That's the thing, I come on here and see so many people saying "ZOMG WATCH THIS IT'S AMAZZZINNGGG!?!?!?!!!!!?!!" and I just ignore it, but when I see someone say something is garbage i'll watch it, ie Drive and now The Devils Doubles, both well worth watching.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Avoid The Devil's Double like a plague. Unless you're one of those who liked Drive.. (they don't have anything similiar to make it clear, they're just both stupid movies).

I saw this post then went and watched it, enjoyed the movie.

I didn't mind drive either, it was different, interesting..

I play pool for my local area, had a tournament a couple of weeks ago, we won 1 out of 6 games in the qualifying stages and were almost the worst team in the entire tournament, however we just qualified for the knock-out stages.....

This was the live stream on the final, the bouncing idiot is me...

Quote from S14 DRIFT :
as for your boost leak, do the 130's come with the FMIC or is it just the 150's? either way check around the intercooler as the clips are rubbish, also check around the EGR and where the silicone tube joins into the plastic one as it heads back down under the engine. vw clips on their intercoolers are notoriously bad.

Nah it's a SMIC, only the 150's with FMIC, yea the problem is dark when I go to work, dark when I come back, so it's a weekend job really.

It sounds like it's coming from around the intercooler area so it's most likely one of the slutty clips. Though everything will be getting checked, done all the hoses etc on the last car so I at least know what to be looking for when i'm down there.

As for the map, I know I see some people hitting 180bhp from a map in a 130, the 150's don't go much higher from a stage 1 either and are more prone to problems, so i'm quite happy to say the least.

My uncle has a bora tdi130, must be mapped because it's insanely fast, just need to get christmas over and done with then I can spend some money on it.

Definite leak of some sort somewhere, MPG struggles to go above 40, gave it a good blast down the motorway, the top end is a good bit better than the old car as well, power just keeps coming.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :without looking i found several 1.9 se's (which have auto lights, auto wipers, cruise control and air con, some come with the awesome stereo like mine hehe :nod for £3500-£4000 and with between 80k and 120k. you can buy a 2.0tdi golf for as little as £4500 but would personally pay more from a vw dealer as early cars (before 07) get the old porous block problem and the protection of a vw warranty in that situation can be very cost effective.

My 1.9 has hit 117500 these last few days (i had it from 99k) and it's going as strong as ever. only thing that's gone with with it has been the dmf (no thanks to my remap, smf and uprated clutch fitted and all is well, and the fuel temperature sensor, replaced for £20 and job done) - engine pulls very well (beat a corsa vxr to 70 lol ) and as you probably know from ukmkivs you can tune these pd105 lumps quite well, mines only stage 1 and got 150 brake! if anything goes it'll be the turbo which in engine terms isn't that major, new hybridised units can be had for about £750 exchange. trust me a 120k mk5 will last you a lifetime so long as it's not crashed and had a full service history, on time with PD rated oil!!!! better to drive and a nicer interior, more reliable, and parts are actually a little bit cheaper

This is very true, but for £3300 the standard of a MK5 golf would be NOWHERE near the one i'm driving just now.

58K miles, massses of history, full heated leather, all the toys, nicer to sit in than a standard mk5 interior...

The only problem is there is a right wooshing sound when I get into the turbo, which sounds like a boost leak, however it still pulls really well, much better than the 115 which had a few things done to it..

Took a quick video of the 3rd gear this morning, will get a look under the bonnet over the weekend, MPG is down too which is quite nice, looking forward to finding the problem and trying it after that...

Still no pics, dark when I go to work, dark when I come home.

Really fond of golfs, was gunna get a MK5 TDI but really, i'm looking at around 4k for one with 120+k miles and it's not gunna be the top spec one.

At least with this MK4, it's like new and proper nice inside, will get pics up soon.

Nice little remap too, hey then it will beat skylines and imprezas.....

Quote from Mysho :Dunno if it happens by accident or something, but 95% of people I met either eye-to-eye or online said they were smashed by a dumb cow.

Just imagine the world without dumb cows. Would be A LOT safer and car friendly.

True, but they admitted liability and paid out more than what the car was worth imo. I was coming up to a mini roundabout, turning right, nothing coming from my right, I pull out, smash, woman from my left doing about 40mph wipes me out. The funny thing is she asked "where did you even come from" and tried to blame it on me haha.

Quote from Jakg :Thats a writeoff?! :S

Quote from JO53PHS :It's probably on the borderline of being a writeoff, but the repair costs are still pretty significant in comparison to the market value of the car.

All we can really see from the photo provided is the bodywork damage, but that's probably £700+ in (decent not bodged) paintwork even before you factor in the cost of the actual panels and fitting. Then there's all the bits and pieces behind the bumper and under the bonnet that could need replacing.

True, the engine has moved, chassis legs bent, radiator damaged, I think in panels alone the front end would be 1k to fix, when you include brand new panels, painting and fitting etc. Then you get all the damage in behind there, isn't worth it really.

Quite gutted but have a GT TDI 130 lined up, full heated leather, all the toys, 53 plate, 58k miles (genuine) for a really nice price.... Completely un molested as well.

Happend a couple of weeks ago, dumb cow smashed me at a roundabout, didn't admit fault at the time but her insurance has paid out and it hasn't affected me.

Car is a write off, getting a new one at the weekend.
