Quote from BlueFlame :Completely agree. I think it's stupid, after all, if it's a 3rd party camera and they've paid to be at the circuit to watch the cars, how can the FIA claim copyright infringement? That's what I don't get, unless they were using footage from FIA camera men (but I don't know because I didn't get chance to see the footage).

They took off my videos when i went last year says on the back of the ticket you can't record anything.

Quote from samjh :The punny game has already started: Di Grassi enjoys first Virgin run.

I'm very much looking forward to the Virgin, Red Bull, and Force India at Jerez this week.

Pun intended?

Okay, so a bit late for the Dubai and Daytona 24hr but who cares

The serious stuff is underway now. The Le Mans series entries have been confirmed. LMP1 is looking interesting with 2 audi's, but no factory Pugs and a lone Aston driven by two people i've enver heard of. LMP2 is LMP2 in LMS, nobody really stands out which can provide good racing. GT1... yeah... and GT2 looks really good, three entries from AF corse, including one with fishysmella, and some good drivers in the porches. Also theres the BMW with Jörg Müller and Dirk Werner.

Looks like it's gonna be fairly interesting in LMP1 and definatly interesting in GT2 with some really strong line ups. I look forward to seeing how AF Corse handle their 3 driver line ups, their all VERY strong.

Also, heres the 24hr list, but i dont have time to write my comments on it atm

Quote from Niels Heusinkveld :At the end these things tend to be won by 'gamers' by which I mean people who spend hours and hours using the fact that the track conditions and car condition is the same (or at least changes at exactly the same rate) everytime.

This possibility of extreme practise still requires some talent, even with GT5, but there is more gaming determination involved than driving skill to make it to the top of a hotlap competition..

If it makes u feel less innadequate

At the end of the day it still takes a degree of understanding the racing line and how to go faster, also determination is one of the biggest things when it comes to being a racing driver.

@Tristan: Thats what i mean, the air will probably already have been angled on the underside of the car to blend with the air on the top. Aerodynamics isn't just limited to the outside of the car. The only problem would be dealing with convection.

lol, jokes on me then . I don't think there will be much of an issue with it changing direction, it's probably already "prepared" under the engine cover from air that flows through the sidepods/radiators.

Quote from 5haz :Perhaps that exhaust area is also an outlet for the air from the radiators too.

That's exactly what it is. By exhaust Tristan wasn't talking about the actual engine exhaust but the heat exhaust for the engine.

the McLaren and the Ferrari have a triple diffuser, the rest only seem to have a double.

The Mercedes kind of has a triple but not really..

Looking at how high up the driver is compared to the ferrari i think McLaren have moved the oil or fuel tank under the driver, whereas other teams probably moved the oil tank to the gearbox area. That would explain the tiny rear end.

Yeah i see it, like the camera housing that is normally on the roll hoop at the top of the car but integrated into the nose. I have seen it before, i think the Red Bulls had it for 2/3 races last year.

Yeah, heres an example: http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/2009/813/673.html

I liked all the winglets and bumps on the pre 09 cars personally. The best looking ones came in 2004 though.

You can quite clearly see the effects of the bigger fuel tank too.

Besides, From my experience using the HDMI output for a PC doesn't really work as the TV (assuming ur using a TV) starts acting all weird and shiz. Most TV's with a VGA/DVI input have a PC mode which acts like a monitor and u dont get the errors of HDMI mode. My PC stopped recognising the HDMI was connected on boot up and i ended up with one monitor instead of 2. Then i would reconnect it and set it up and it got confused between the nVidia control panel and the windows one. So long story short, just use the PC mode not the HDMI mode on ur TV if ur gonna use one. a good quality VGA cable can show as clear as a DVI cable too (something i never found out until after i had bought my HDMI cable).
