Some optimisations should be made, because I don't believe rendering cockpit requires so much power, especially since its most time just static

There is a big difference when you render something in OpenGL2 and OpenGL3 which gives you about 10 % better performance. Lets hope its similiar with DirectX

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Considering the twitter account was created after that quote was stated. Also the LFSRacing twitter account has a follow button on the main LFS.net page.

OK, I guess Victor´s opinion about twitter didnt matter (no offence, Victor, you are great )

Just do one thing. When Schirroco will be released in a test patch don´t report any bugs of it so it can be pushed into final release AFAP

From what I know WINE is translating DirectX to OpenGL at runtime so thats why there is a performance drop. Remember that DirectX was meant to be Windows only (and Xbox? not sure).

People don´t mind if their personal data are sent to server (hotlaps ) so everybody should be ok withsending info on their Windows version.... or Linux/MacOSX because there are players using WINE to play LFS on other platforms.

In my country, using automatic shifter is a sign of weakness

Yes, people will always have trouble with getting used to changes and it gets worse as they are older(including us!). But technology is advancing fast nowdays so we just have to adapt to survive... And DX9 will be crucial to survive arrival of new GPUs because not all of them will have DX8 support

This puts an attention to completely new kind of problem for LFS. So, if the newest AMD hardware does not support Direct X properly, Scawen should hurry with porting LFS to DirectX 9 or (just my wish)OpenGL 2.3

Instead of this, I would introduce back the licence point system as is in cargame.nl servers and/or in older versions of LFS.

Do i remember correctly when I was little I drove LFS demo cars and after each race (even offline) I got credits for finishing first-fourth?

EDIT: im not strictly against buying car parts for in-game money though I really don´t mind.

Quote from Racer X NZ :Sorry but this is my experience,

XP, as good as it is, was released in 2001.

XP is by far the best Windows for 32bit PC´s. However, if you have 64bit machine you should go for Win7 because it has better memory management and proper 64bit support.

I have done networking only in Python but IPv6 doesnt seem to be a huge pile of work. World is slowly moving to IPv6 and LFS should not stay behind.
It wouldnt mean anything good for me personaly but im tired of endless NATing that sometimes may bring unstability to the network. Please, google some info about IPv6(im writing IPv6 so much today ) to understand.

cargame.nl:

!WARNING, long text if it s too long, read only the last line!
IPv6 is definetly a next evolution step that has to be taken (like moving from 32bit to 64 bit PC´s and operating systems).
In next few years, amount of machines connected to the Internet will grow damn fast, so the most important thing is bigger adressing space... much bigger than now.
Also, file sharing options will grow, imagine that you could send any file anytime to any PC in the world. no skype or public file sharing service is needed because all adresses could be static.

I understand that Ip6 may mean nothing interesting for you but for more technical people it will make some things easier

Can you add IPv6 compatibility for the next patch please ? Thanks.

and tyre physics test patch for people with IPv6 adress /troll

Anyway, it would be great, if LFS master server supports IPv6 it would be no problem. But running it alongside with IP4 is a bit different story... i think

I don't want to see people racing on the track and then disappearing for a minute and then suddenly reappear in the middle of a field of cars for 10 seconds...
.

Dont worry(be happy), Im not playing on cargame.nl servers because I dont have a steering wheel anymore and im racing only on demo servers when T-mobile sends my net speed down.

I think that every server should be able to set its own ping limits. Ping limit on some cruise server doesnt have to be a small as on cargame etc...

Much longer timeouts - lower probability of disconnection

YEEEEAAAAH. Finally i could playthis game when my ISP(T-Mobile) throws my net speed to 10KB/S. Thanks a lot.

Hm, CUDA for calculating particle effects(smoke etc.) would be indeed cool, but a bit of overkill
