Well, he obviously started, but then Scawen realised that the new content must have new physics, which is great anyway. Lets see what will come after physics update. I think that Eric and Scawen have more surprises for us

I dont see why is Eric so unpopular. About graphics side, Eric cant do more details than what the game engine allows him. Damn, LFS hasnt even support for bump maps.

!!!WARNING: GEEKY STUFF!!!
From little I know about C++, that relplacing DX8 for newer version, or even OpenGL3* might not be that difficult if the code is well written. Replacing old routines may be done without harm because graphic side of DX is just a sort of thin layer.
I did once a rewrite of one of my libraries(game settings customisation) and except the module, no files were affected, because it was still doing totaly same things, but in more modern way under 3 operating systems... just in case you want to tell, that im just whiny kid who had seen programming once in TV.

So, blame Scawen(sorry for that:schwitz

In general, the rendering system update will bring faster rendering and huge variety of effects. I think that this will be next step after implementing new tire physics, engine temparature and maybe new visual damage system.

Then we can blame Eric for not making ultra detail stuff
P.S. No offence to Scawen, i know what tremendous amount of work is involved in programming of mathematical formulas that have to be performed so many times per second(2000 Hz i think, to prevent vehicle spasming)

* in case of replacing DX with OpenGL, there would have to be added aditional libraries, like OpenAL for sound and SDL for user interface.

Quote from Whiskey :Not natively. But you could use some emulator (WINE kind of emulator).

Wine Is Not Emulator

But yeah, it should work. I run this game on Linux sometimes, without problems(except sound lags, sometimes)

EDIT: and there is similar tool for Mac too, try to use google

Dead game: the game that no one plays anymore
dead game devellopment: game that is still played but isnt developing anymore

So think about what u answered

Anyway, we need some more reports, i mean NERDY stuff about calculations, variables, constants, graphs, infrastructure changes, cookies, whatever...

Meh, I solved it by removing cfg.txt to see what will it do

Never happened on Ubuntu, it was definitely a configuration problem.

suggestion for people with same problem: delete your cfg.txt file located in your game directory.

Thanks for reply anyway.

Steering wheel resets it´s position when I brake

Hello, after a long time.

I launched my LFS after 6 months but I found out that every time I brake, my steering wheel* resets it´s position. It is very annoying, I crash in almost every turn I get into when I brake. Does someone please know, where the problem is?

Reseting game configuration may also help.... but I dont know how

No, I cant reinstall the game because of my internet traffic limit. and last time I had to install LFS on Linux Ubuntu and then copy it to Windows 7 64bit because I couldnt install it there in a normal way
* I mean steering wheel in the game, not HW steering wheel with pedals... I will have it back in 2 weeks.

Quote from der butz :Oh hey, you get something for free and still moan. Spoilt Kid...

Well, it is avaiable on lfs website in one piece so splitting it up into a dozen of files makes no sense... and that means it is a stupid idea

Well, if devs would increase it to 64 they would satisfy the commuinty for quite a long time

Well, i think this will not happen. But it would be possible if rims would have some impact on car´s physics somehow.

The video one page ago was great, I would personaly love to drive that car in LFS... <trollmode> this car would also make more use of pits ingame, wouldn´t it? </trollmode>.

Electric cars would be great for short tracks(south city?) where they would have advantage because they don´t need gearbox(from what I´ve heard)

I dont see any point in this except there would be an option to listen some internet radios ingame, so you would not listen to that internet radio from your music player but straight from LFS.... but I don´t know to imagine it at the moment.

Quote from E.Reiljans :I have bad news for you.

Its not a bad news for me, I don´t get paid for the game(LFS) development
I guess that they have built the server application from scratch with the information about packets sent and recieved in original LFS. Something like Wine(to run LFS and others on Linux)

Well... they may want it but they wont have it unless they buy the licence... And there is still no crack for online game that would work except https://www.lfs.net/?page=shop .

I think that everyone who knows this will have no problem with demo people.

I have learned one thing on this forum (i was a demo for a long time)... NEVER suggest adding new cars when you are a demo racer. I dont know why but it causes a lot of flame here:tempted:

btw. every new car would be nice to have... but I would prefer new tracks
Bigbob1993

I think that low framerate may be caused by poor culling system. Before, LFS had culling system that only showed the next part of the track depending on configuration.
But since, on open configs, the whole track is rendered the framerate is getting low. Also, layout objects are not good for FPS. I don´t have much experience with culling systems(well, almost none :shy so Scawen(game programmer) may give you a better answer...

Wonderfull, I especially like the picture of XFG on South City. That car reminds me of Škoda Fabia even more when drawn by hand

guests making layouts on server = anarchy
I may be wrong but that would end up with a group of spectators making baricades around racers or some similiar kind of crazyness

In my humble opinion, for cruise maps, the limit could be removed entirely and every pit could have a sensor detecting if there is a car in pit... if there is none, new player can be spawned there.

P.S. once it happened that I came into garage and 5 seconds later, another player spawned inside me and sent me to moon(*quote Scawen in my signature*)
