Eeeeh? I'm having the most fun than ever before, I'm enjoying the challenge. Gear changes don't feel slow either, but of course, those are only my opinions.

Here is my third, or second "proper" movie. Bloody decompressing almost made me loose my mind, but eventually all came together and here is the crappy Youtube version.

Might upload a better quality if I manage.

Feel free to comment.

Quote from Dmt :Hello, there is some deep hole :P

I would just like to comment on that and say that Chicane route is missing the barriers from that spot like Classic has. And that "hole" is only visible from cockpit view.

The first annual bike throwing championships were a success, dispite the fact some competitors really didn't get the idea of throwing their bike, instead of driving them.

Quote from Scawen :Tyres R1, R2 and R3 now heat up a little more quickly and wear more quickly. The tiny bit of increased heating also results in a tiny bit more rolling resistance. If your tyres are overheating, you should use the next R number up - that is intended.

All other tyres and all other aspects of tyre physics are not changed.

Thanks for your input. No-one has said anything to put me off. I admit to being surprised that there wasn't more negativity given that there must be a majority of younger people here. Very refreshing.

Oh, I forgot one! Old people. Damn those old people.

Quote from Albieg :I'll spell it Raikkonen, but it's not an error, it's just an approximation due to keyboard limits and a bit of lazyness.

Njaah, it's ok to spell it with a and o, because some keyboards don't have those characters. It's spelling it totally wrong ie. Riakkoen Kolvaenn etc. that makes us mis-spell British racing car drivers.
Quote from deggis :Umm, what do you mean? I remember just few weeks ago in Hesari there was a study that rental apartments are here little above the European average, square metre per person or something. Might remember completely wrong though.

Well, compared to the land area we could built on the houses are small. But big houses are expensive to keep warm anyway, so it not might be that bad. Europeans live tight compared to Americans in any scale.

More about alcohol price, it's 170% over the European average I think, only Ireland is more expensive.

edit.

One thing you silly Brits should love is the true limitless broadband. Not the most fastest in the world, but I'd say 2/1 megs is available even on the most rural areas.

And btw, have you though where around Finland you were going to move Doorman?

Yes, it's funny you see because you people can't spell Räikkönen or Kovalainen and we can't spell Blotton, Humdton, or Cultard. What a coincidence I say!

Hard to say really. Haven't really seen the world and it's hard to see the trees from all the forest some time. If you don't mind the dark winter, and some cold temperatures every now and then, I guess it's not that bad. People are a bit different than Englishmen I'd say, cultural differences you always get when changing country. People don't really talk much, silence is a blessing and empty talk is for the empty headed. But of course, we've moved to the more central European direction and we are actually having small-talk nowdays. Although, the difference might be that when a finn asks "how are you doing?" it might actually mean, how you really are doing and if everything alright. I'm not really sure about it though.

What else. Well, cars are ridiculously expensive, houses are small, and people drink.

And btw, shouldn't it be "the worst thing" not "worse".

Quote from Californian :How do you even start with autoclutch without braking your engine?

Someone should make a giude for autoclutch users, soon.

I mean why in earth we, momo racers can't use the old system with auto throttle cut and blip? There is still automatic gearbox...

-Gear change auto throttle cut and blip options removed

Why not remove automatic gearbox then? I don't see it being fair right now..

Eeeeh? First, automatic gearbox is always the slowest because you have no control what gear you are going to be. Secondly, automatic doesn't have blip that would be stabilizing the car under braking and therefore have advantage. Thirdly, auto clutch hasn't changed in any way since X10. It's still a robotic system that makes sure you can't stall and have clutch when changing up. Only way to heat your clutch is probably start with a too high gear and full revs.

Anyway, guide to the world of auto-clutch:

Make sure your gear rations are not too tall when starting. The automatic clutch doesn't drop it instantly, but allows slip and that will heat your clutch. Change up&down when you like, lifting slightly on upshift migh be recommended.

Quote from Lateralus :Cyanide is cyanide, there aren't different kinds.

Lethality is all about dose, however. A small amount of cyanide is harmless (apple seeds and some other fruit seeds contain cyanide), but a little too much and it'll kill ya quick.

Well I actually came across this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanide when I was checking if I got the translation correct, and it says like that. But I guess if it's in liquid form it's toxic.

Not all cyanide is toxic. I think. Yeah, but falling in a vat must suck though.

Quote from Hyperactive :Bollocks. What we have got in this patch is just a start. Lots of stuff needs to come and go before LFS is "truelly a simulator".

I mean, people are building "forum clubs" for a single clutch heat update. Not trying to spit on the latest update but the clutch heat is really really small realism update.

Lifting while upshifting hasn't been revolutionary since marioKart.

It is about a time there is something done with the flatshifting problem and I thank Scawen that he went and did something to it.

Still long way to go even to beat GPL. Food for thought. Maybe we need pizza delivery missions to keep the gamer types happy when we add front wings that can fall off when you crash in single seater and small mind bending mini games to keep you gamer types entertained while the pit crew changes the said front wing...

I can relate to what you wrote. While the Club thread is a half joke (if you saw the small print in white in the first post) and a jab for the silly arcade crowd, I do hope there is reason for such threads in the future too. But I think here is too much praising and how awesome is teh patch around here. It's normal I know, but Scavierge should be kept on their toes to deliver more hardcore.

Y will be great, and I have never enjoyed failing at something like I did mis-shifting my gears and loosing the draft last night. But it has to be the beginning, I sure hope so too. Racing should be more dynamic, and not a laboratory of perfection lap after lap, clutch brings something, but there should be more in the future. Not that I can enjoy much of the improvement in the next 6 or so months though, but that doesn't matter does it. We need someone to give some seat time to Scawen in a proper racing car, maybe crash it slightly too. That should get him inspired. :P

Quote from russraine :Any newa on this? Since test patch x30 i've started noticing this again whilst racing. As said, it's true about the skins not loading whilst at high speed, but there is a noticable stutter when someone leaves the pits, maybe it's more an initial syncing issue rather than skins.

Maybe it's their skin download that causes a small lag spike. I've noticed it some times again, not that bad though.
shaky steering on kerbs

Are AI trying to over correct wheel movement when they drive over kerbs? Or do they just have very flimsy hands with great strength but no resisting muscles? Because their steering and hands shake very violently and incredibly quickly to side to side when they drive over kerbs.

AS Cadet and the chicane braking on the second sector is a good place to demonstrate it, see the replay.

Quote from spn43 :I don’t know what cars you ppl drive, but 80% of new (regular) cars have either, pedal shift on the steering wheel or +/- on the shift handle where you don’t have to lift at all…..so for me it’s all unrealistic bs.

What you've described sounds like Tiptronic. The road cars we have in LFS are old and probably wouldn't have such fancy technology. And why on earth you would want such thing anyway? Manual is faster on track, and much more fun.

Quote from kaynd :I have been in situations going up a steep hill with many cars in front of you starting and stopping. You basically slip the clutch all the way up…
Also it is possible to keep the car stable stopped on a small hill by slipping the clutch in low rpm.
I know people doing that a lot, almost in every traffic light, and no one had any problems whatsoever… (I don’t like doing it because I know it stresses the clutch with no reason) I bet none who knows about car abuse that happens a lot when you are around 20-30yold… experienced the clutch getting loose so fast.

In the attached replay you can see the CT bar that gets red in 33 sec of sliping in around 2000-3000rpm with less than 1/5 of the clutch pedal release and less than ¼ of throttle @ an XFG…

Have you ever been in a trafic jam that lasts hours? if you had that kind of clutch in your car you would be off in 10minutes...

I could almost guarantee you that if you do the same thing with a real car, you could have this burning sensation inside the car even faster. You don't stand in a slope with clutch when you got 2000-3000 rpm, it will slip and smell. When pulling off maybe, but it doesn't take that long.

Not saying the clutch model is perfect. I still think it's not easy enough to stall, although starting on full revs and high gears seem to kill the clutch better than I first though. But having your revs all down below 300 and getting away with it seems a bit odd for me. Maybe the next thing on the list should be engine damage.

Quote from mrodgers :
How are people overheating the clutch with just a single race start?

Too long first gear and probably automatic clutch that leaves the clutch half open.

edit. Some clutch standing testing with automatic clutch, cbecause it can find the right point I can't. You can stand there quite a long time I think, had shorter gearing than the default setup and the red didn't feel that worn to be honest.

It's ridiculously hard to do that manually though, the revs just drop to zero like a rock some point. It might be because you can't feel the accelerations with your body of course.

Quote from JTbo :Muahahha, wrong move

I can't see speedo of FBM even I wear my glasses and look very closely of screen, I can barely distinquish 7x kph from 8x kph if I look close and hard, but that is about it, so I could say I haven't looked that speedo ever

Well I don't even know how fast that thing goes! I know I did 1:16.73 on Chicane route few minutes ago and to be honest I don't even care. Because I know I was near my limits, and looking the speed in those speeds (whatever they were) doesn't help your time at all.

Quote from Boris Lozac :They do eh, didn't have the time to test all cars... What about FOX and F08 (sorry, i'm at work, not being lazy)?

Quote from Blackout :the single seaters, FBM aside, all have ignition cut.

Quote :What about auto blip, so some real cars even have that on auto or you can assign a button for it?? I'm all for realism but if a cup version of Clio for example have an auto cut than i want it for XFR to have it..

I think that for starters, the gearbox should be semi-auto to have automatic blip, like Enzo or F1 car for example. Can't really tell how advanced is the ignition cut, and how common, but you will need to have sequential gearbox for that to work I think. If the car doesn't have that, it can't have the ignition cut either. And I really doubt some entry level racing class would allow such to keep the cost down.
