sure they are... i've created templates for both v2 and v3... it just takes some reading and some knowledge of php, but it's mostly html and phpbb variables.
some sections of our major highways have been repaved so many times that there is actually a hump from one layer to the next, hitting it at 100km/h gives you a nice jolt, i think the one time i even hit my head off the roof.
apparently if enough people complain, they shave the hump down, but they never do a good enough job of it. plus when they shave large sections of the road, it makes considerable noise on the tires.
hm, i guess it has been some time since the graduated system has been in place... funny how time flies by.
on the other hand, canada's worst driver 5 was only a couple years ago, and the one guy actually used to drive in the middle of the road... i guess some places in india don't have line markers. how he got his license over here is a mystery.
on the topic of worst traffic in canada, word has it that toronto is the worst, but i haven't been there in years. i would consider hamilton a close second or third though... maybe i'm just less tolerant of moron drivers than people in smaller cities/towns.
yeah, that's a problem... immigrants with licences from another country are automatically given licences here...
add to that the grandfathering of the old system, which means you can be a blind old dingbat and nothing will happen to you until you get pulled over for running over that playground of kids...
g1 - written multiple choice test, can't drive without a licensed passenger, can't drive on the major highways, no booze, can't take g2 for a year
g2 - simple road test, no booze, can't drive with a full car at night, can't take full g for a year
full g - highway road test, under 25 no booze still, over 80 have to take a vision test and get that same test every 2 years
we don't require that, and i think it's rather silly. on the other hand, g1 drivers who do take driving school can take their g2 test some months early, and they get a break on their insurance.
actually, most taxiing is done under idle thrust... you need a little thrust to start rolling once you take off the parking brake, but it pretty much rolls along like a car does.
but i decided to try it out in a fully loaded 747-400 with fsx, despite the fact that it's hardly accurate (i had to re-do the 737-800's config, it was too light and underpowered compared to specs), and i used 18000lbs for takeoff and climb (to [email protected] from 750-ground) alone... 17 pounds per second - per engine at it's worst... but i must say, that's still more than i had expected... that plane is a frigging pig... it makes you wonder how it can make it across the ocean.
anywho, back to f1... how come ferrari is doing so badly this year? they're usually the "i win" cars of the championship...
yes, but the concorde's P+W engine provides almost twice (if not more) the static thrust as the 737's CFM engine. plus, the concorde can do over mach 2... neither the 737 or 747 can be flown that fast, it would rip itself apart.
while the 737-800 has a smaller engine than the 747-100, i don't believe that figure...
6.75 lbs (average fuel weight for 1 gallon) x 48,500 gallons (747-100's tanks size) = 148,000kg of fuel... if it spends 2000 of that just taking off, then it's not going to go very far at mach 0.84, let alone have ~2 hours of additional fuel in case their destination airport can't accept their arrival.
how long did it spend taxiing? what was the ground level? what was the cruising altitude? did they follow FAA guidelines on speed? what was the climb rate? ...wind speed, weather?
so much for the Manitoba moose, word now is that if Atlanta moves to Winnepeg, Manitoba is moving to St. John's Newfoundland, previous home to the Toronto Marlies (then called the St. John's Maple Leafs)... again, nothing is finalized or confirmed.
which doesn't bode well for Vancouver, as they would lose their AHL "training" team, but it has been suggested that they'll take Atlanta's old team from Chicago.
so what's the problem with that? that's no different than going out and buying one of those cyber-nanny programs, except the kid can't get too smart and turn it off... it's not like you're being forced to use it.
