the profile is what contains all your settings and extensions. if you delete it, firefox goes back to what it was like when you first installed it, at least for your specific computer user.
it's usually stored in c:\docs and settings\you\application data\mozilla\.
what would be the point of randomly turning off someone's computer though, that makes no sense... it would be more advantageous for them to keep it on and use it for nefarious purposes.

i haven't noticed a difference in hosting servers with wine since the 0.9.x days... for what it's worth, most of wine's updates would affect a person playing in wine more than it would a person hosting a server with wine.

on the client, the scrollback appears when you press H, but it's limited... i'm not sure if it's logged to file anywhere for the server or to go back further back than what the screen holds.
