no, editing DDS files is okay, people have done it to their headlights and other places (replacement back seats, steering wheels, etc)... they're just texture files.
edit: but i never downloaded the file. from the pictures i couldn't tell there was indeed a vob mod attached.
do you know how many demo users come here trying to code cruise insims with C#, not knowing a single damn thing about programming and expecting us to hold their hand while they create "yet another" cruise insim?
yes, the physics are probably a little lacking, but at least it's a real city. i see nothing wrong with the open config idea lfs is doing, but that's going to be something the cruisers will be complaining about for years. "why can't i go here?" "i want more cities" "when will we get tow trucks?" etc.
look, i have no problem with cruisers, in fact, i've even thought of purchasing TDU2 (or a similar laid-back driving game). i just don't think lfs is the right platform for it, and i'm sure plenty of other people agree with that statement.
i'm sorry for derailing this otherwise useless thread.
one thing i don't get about cruisers, is that they want a racing simulator to be a driving simulator... what's so cool about driving around on aston pretending it's a real city? there are games which do pretty much everything they want, all they have to do is LUA script their extra missions.
have what turned around? an autocross layout? lfs doesn't (and can't) do that by itself. you need to turn the S/F line around, reassign the checkpoints in proper order, along with any route checkers you have installed... it's not that hard of a task, but lfs isn't just going to do everything magically for you just because you clapped your hands...
i did, i didn't see anything about it, aside from the layouts being posted in a schedule thread. if they want a reverse config, all they have to do is flip the start finish line 180 degrees, reorder the checkpoints and move the starting positions.
from what i can tell, they are using slickmod, does that even work for the newest patch?
scawen knows about qualify not working on open configs, he said he's going to fix it... it's been repeated so many times now...
as for there being no Y for autocross, i don't see why there would be a need for it, you have to manually place the start/finish line on the track anyways.
the one side of my family is rife with alcoholics. on the subject of drinking and family, i lost a family member back in 2005 after a drunk driver had crashed into the car he was a passenger of.
personally, i have no problem with alcohol. i don't like to get drunk, but i do enjoy having a beer or two (or six) every now and again... i don't see what the appeal is of getting so drunk you puke all over the sidewalk, or partying every weekend and sleeping with random women (who most likely also sleep with random men on a weekly basis)
why should i break RFC and piss off my users, because other people use "stupid" passwords?
and i didn't exactly mean DDoS, but when you have 500 or so computers pointed at you, it might as well be. the only thing that prevents it from denying service is the fact that i upgraded that server some time ago. in its previous form, the bots would consume CPU power normally used by the users, and that is a denial of service.
i'd be glad to "]continue this conversation, but the LFS forum is hardly the place to be talking about my entrepreneurial business practices.
yes, yes, i've heard all that jazz before, in fact, i've suggested it before. fail2ban does not do anything about distributed bots. i get those just as much as i do the type seen in past years.
