Brendan Latimer was knocked down by a herd of fellow protesters during a G20 demonstration at Queen’s Park.

Lying on the ground, police moved in and arrested the delivery worker. That’s when one of the officers allegedly struck him in the face, causing a fracture.

The 19-year-old’s case is one of six from the June G20 summit that has been probed by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.

On Thursday, the agency announced no charges will be laid against police officers for injuries to civilians during the G20 protests. In Latimer’s case, the agency interviewed nine witness officers from the Toronto Police Services as well a civilians. SIU director Ian Scott concluded that while there was “reasonable ground” to believe excessive force was used, they were unable to tell which officer caused his injuries.

“I’m let down, I’m very frustrated,” said Latimer, who says he also suffered two broken ribs and a deep cut to his head.

“They spent all this money installing cameras and surveillance devices . . . I’m enraged that they could use that stuff to catch protesters but not to catch police.

“It just seems like a double standard,” he added.

The SIU has a mandate to probe incidents involving police that result in death, allegations of sexual assault or serious injury.

Quote from Sueycide_FD :I remember in GT2 you had to wait for the 2000GT to pop up in the used cars section. Sometimes you would wait a couple in game days, other times it it would be a real time week of playing before it showed back up.

and if i'm not mistaken, in both 3 and 4, certain cars were only available on one day, and that day only... if you don't have the money, then you have to start a new savefile.

if we get what we were suggested we were getting, and nothing more... probably not... but maybe we're all wrong. i hope that we are.

okay, i gotta stop reading this thread, i'm getting dizzy from constantly going in circles.

Quote from shiny_red_cobra :It wouldn't mess up posts. You can delete your posts manually, and the forum won't be broken. Just any links pointing to your posts will result in an error page. But that's normal.

except that it's bad form... i didn't check his posting history, but if he asked or answered any questions, deleting his posts would leave those threads in a horrible mess.

if you want an example, please feel free to PM me, and i'll show you one.

again with the OSS stuff...

i'm as much of a fan of OSS as the next guy, but the developers have the right to choose whether to release the source or not, and in all fairness, i can't see them doing it.

Quote from MadCatX :Browser just like any other app can take advantage of advanced CPU instructions if it's compiled for a specific architecture. For example, I know for sure that there is pretty significant performance increase in Avidemux (think linux VirtualDub) when I compile it with "-march=core2" instead of "-march=x86_64" in GCC. What I remember from the times I was running on Gentoo, FF compiled with a boatload of optimizations in GCC wasn't any faster than an official binary build, I guess it's because browser isn't all that CPU intensive for these optimizations to have effect.

i've always wondered how much xorg plays into firefox's performance...

as for core2 vs the generic x86-64, i'm afraid i don't know what gcc options that expands to, so i can't say much there.

Quote from majod :i recommend you http://www.palemoon.org/

you cannot find faster and more tweaked firefox than this...

Quote :Mozilla does not provide optimized browser packages for Windows, while many Linux ("from scratch") users get the advantage of a browser built specifically for their system.

i don't understand this... i could see them making this claim if every linux distribution was the same, but many distributions have different conventions requiring these "optimizations", typically with the filesystem layout.

now, if they're talking about CPU features, maybe i could see them making this claim if browsers specifically needed SSSE3 or whatever new technology AMD is coming out with... but does a browser really need that?

dunno, maybe i'm not seeing the point here.

i didn't actually meet him, but al pacino was in hamilton yesterday for some fundraiser...

normally celebs don't come here, and would go to toronto instead, so this was a nice surprise... even if i couldn't afford to go, or afford the $1000 for a VIP picture.

bill clinton's been here a few times for speaking jobs. (yeah, people actually pay him to expel hot air, to the tune of $150K+, if i'm not mistaken)

sometimes i hate living in this wannabe-"big city"... and now that the steel factory is closed, this city is going to return to the sewer. which is a shame, because this city was one of canada's original settlements.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :bunder.. IE actually loads pages faster than Gecko for that reason. Gecko is slow at rendering.

really? i've never actually timed it, but when i load a webpage, i normally expect to read text... if firefox can get me the text portion of the website faster, then i'm all for it.

Quote from EliteAti :Demo drag racing is a joke, the insim allows you to jumpstart so easily. Too many crashers there, and banning them isnt useful since they always come back with new account. Your best bet is to buy S2 (atleast S1 if you want the Autocross area which includes drag)

i've always said that it sucks because that the blackwood straight is a downhill slope, and uneven to boot.

to be honest, i'm not sure why i used that extension in the first place... firefox loads pages pretty quickly compared to IE, because gecko doesn't need the whole page to load before rendering.

Quote from amp88 :I must admit I've never heard of that. Source?

which part, about the fake raid, or about adding disks to arrays?

https://ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/SATA_RAID_FAQ

the only real raid is the kind you need a plug-in controller for.

as for adding disks to windows raid arrays, i'm only going by what i remember from school, and i could be wrong, but i'm almost positive it can be done.

now there's one thing i didn't mention, and that is that this would only work if the array isn't the system (boot) volume... but i don't think that'll be a problem because you normally can't install windows on a software raid array because you can't build the array before installation.

i think you can do this, regardless of operating system...

if the raid is on your motherboard, it's 99% most likely windows software raid.

i think all you need to do is go into disk management and add the disk to the array and let it rebuild... but in all honesty, i've never set up a windows soft-raid (well, that's not true, but vmware doesn't count)... in linux, all you have to do is run "mdadm --add" and wait.

Quote from ToJo :I don't understand why everyone is nagging about the new content wich hopefully will come. LFS might not look as good as iRacing, NkPro or any other newer sim. But as far as playability, and the fact hat you can jump right into any race whenever still makes it for me the most enjoyable sim today. And I also race in both iRacing and NkPro. But then again I look more at the course and planning the next turn then looking at the scenery...

new content doesn't always mean texture updates.

Cost me nearly 50 quid just to get a new dongle. **** that! Been mugged.

sell it for a g25/27.
