i don't do overlays, but thanks for the info. the LCD on that machine is pretty much shot anyways, so it's not a huge of a deal as it used to be, say 2 years ago.
no shadow bugs? does the FFB work properly? i stopped testing wine bugs around the 1.1.x mark, and it was just terrible, hardly even worthy of the silver classification.
i found they were okay if you could put up with random hardlocks whilst using opengl, or hardlocks when exiting X...
but they were faster than the OSS drivers. then it got progressively worse, and the OSS driver still hadn't matured enough (IMO). then ati decided to remove "legacy" support from fglrx, which meant if you weren't using a R600 core or higher, you're SOL... which is a shame because i know of plenty of machines using the R420 which are still in use.
so now my laptop has zero opengl performance at all, despite glxinfo's claim that it does.
depends... i had a 2000+ machine running as a server for some years before it got relegated to being my lfs machine... if it's just a windows file server, then it's more than plenty. i wouldn't expect it to handle a big db load, or such though.
yeah, i heard that... i heard north of toronto got hit too...
it's strange, hamilton's dodged a bullet so far this year... except for the temperature department... we're stuck in the same below-seasonal frigidity as everyone else.
i guess i spoke too soon... yeah, we got dusted here as well... and it's packing snow too... twn says more snow is coming, but we're likely to just get another dusting.
i think this will be the first time we've had "real" snow. (and by real i mean that it didn't come down with freezing rain or hail, and it will stay on the ground for longer than 24 hours)
and the first year in many that i've joked about moving somewhere warm...
edit: hmm, it doesn't appear to be sticking to grass or trees... maybe i spoke too soon again.
i dunno, rockstar always has this thing with lighting and skin tones... the detail and animations look great, but they don't look like people faces to me.
